Chapter 110: Chapter 110: I Am the Future Master’s Wife

"Well... it’s not what you think," Zhang Yun said, a bit embarrassed. It would have been easier to just lie; trying to explain would be too inconvenient.

"Haha, I saw it!"

"Huh?" Zhang Yun was taken aback. "You... saw it?"

He thought she might have been woken up by the barking dogs, worried about thieves, and looked out her window. If so, she really could have seen him taking care of those two assassins!

"The dogs barking woke me up last night, and I couldn’t fall back asleep. Later, I saw the lights turn on in your room... You two really should have closed the curtains, especially since you went out of your way to turn the lights on." As Xiuxun said this, she kept her head down and walked a little faster.

Zhang Yun was left inexplicably stunned.

He wondered, "Wait, the thing Xiuxun saw wasn’t the two assassins? Mingruo only turned on the lights after I returned, which means... did she see the moment Mingruo hugged me? Can her room even see my window?"

The two houses weren’t far apart, and Zhang Yun could indeed see Xiuqin’s House from his window. However, he had never been up to her second floor and didn’t know which room Xiuxun stayed in. Plus, the curtains were usually drawn, so he had never paid much attention.

Seeing that he had stopped talking, Xiuxun forced a smile to lighten the mood. "Haha, you don’t have to be embarrassed. Your girlfriend clearly looks like she’s from a big city. It’s totally normal for you guys to be a bit more open-minded."

"Well... sometimes seeing isn’t believing. She’s not my girlfriend, and nothing happened between us last night. The dogs were barking because a thief came, and she was scared, so..."

Zhang Yun didn’t know why he felt the need to explain, but his explanation only made things more confusing.

Xiuxun said softly, "You don’t need to explain anything to me. I won’t go gossiping about it with anyone."

Zhang Yun checked to make sure no one was around and lowered his voice. "I’m telling the truth. Just like that time in the cornfield, we didn’t do anything either, right?"

Xiuxun immediately blushed and frantically glanced around. "Let’s not talk about that..." she whispered.

Rural houses generally had poor soundproofing. Even though no one was in sight, someone inside a house might have overheard them. Xiuxun quickly picked up her pace and hurried off, afraid Zhang Yun might say too much or that it wouldn’t look good if someone saw them walking together.

The further she walked, the more flustered she became.

She had already been tossing and turning last night, and being woken up by the dogs only made it harder to sleep. Once her eyes adjusted to the dark, any light outside became very obvious. So, when the lights went on in Zhang Yun’s room, she couldn’t help but look out her window.

From that distance, she could only make out a rough shadow, but it was enough to tell that two people were hugging. She hadn’t seen the prelude to their bedtime activities, so she wasn’t sure if they were sleeping in the same room.

However, there were only two possibilities: either they had rested until midnight and excitedly decided to have another round, or the woman had sneaked into Zhang Yun’s room in the middle of the night. Since they were already hugging, they were naturally going to have a go at it...

Later, when she saw the lights turn off, she strained her ears, trying to listen. Part of her wanted to hear some kind of noise to confirm her suspicions, while another part hoped she wouldn’t hear anything, leaving room to guess that they had only hugged before returning to their separate rooms.

Given the distance, she naturally couldn’t hear a thing. This kept Xiuxun awake until dawn!

Before the sun had even risen, she had gotten up to wash the rice and steam it. After she was done, she went out to water the vegetables, only to unexpectedly bump into Zhang Yun. Heaven knew just how awkward and flustered she had felt earlier.

She wondered, "Why did he explain it to me? Was he telling the truth? Last time, we also..."

The more Xiuxun thought about it, the more confused she felt, and her steps grew faster. Zhang Yun couldn’t exactly follow her, as her field was in a different direction.

However, her unintentional words made him realize he needed to get into the habit of drawing his curtains. Otherwise, it would be extremely embarrassing if someone caught him doing some "solo activities" one day.

He mused, "Then again... what if only Xiuxun can see in from that angle?"

From the small convenience store owner to the villagers he bumped into on the road, everyone was smiling and teasing Zhang Yun. It seemed that overnight, everyone had found out a beautiful girlfriend had stayed at his house.

For the others, Zhang Yun simply smiled and played along, not bothering to explain anything.

When he got home, his dad still hadn’t returned. He was probably afraid of awkwardly waking them up too early. Zhang Yun handed a toothbrush, towel, and other toiletries to Ouyang Mingruo, then immediately brought out the giant tomato.

Zhang Yun followed the same method as last time. He extracted some tomato juice, which felt even thicker than before, though it remained perfectly sweet and sour after being diluted with water. He then diced a portion to make a bowl of "frosted tomatoes" that required no added sugar. Even after all that, there was still a lot left over.

He thought, "I’ll make tomato and egg stir-fry then!"

It was perfect timing, as he had messaged Xu Jin and the other three early in the morning, telling them to come over for breakfast. Otherwise, an all-tomato feast would be too much for just three people to finish, let alone enjoy.

"Is this your kitchen? It’s quite unique."

"Tomato juice? Mmm! This tastes really good! This must be true organic, eco-friendly produce. Homegrown vegetables definitely taste better than farm-raised ones."

"Wow! These diced tomatoes are so delicious! I don’t see any sugar, and it doesn’t have that refined white sugar taste, yet it’s so perfectly sweet and sour."

The countryside Ouyang Mingruo had experienced in the past consisted of rural farmstays developed for tourism, or quick, surface-level tours of model "beautiful villages." She had never seen a truly authentic rural kitchen like this before, making everything feel fresh and novel to her.

Of course, the real reason the tomatoes conquered her taste buds was that Zhang Yun had grown them in the Peach Blossom Spring Space. If they were just regular homegrown tomatoes, they would only be slightly fresher, lacking that indescribable deliciousness.

Afraid his dad might awkwardly assume they were doing "morning exercises," Zhang Yun sent him a message while cooking, telling him to come home to eat.

By the time breakfast was ready, Xu Jin’s car arrived.

"Master!"

After being dismissed the previous afternoon with a vague instruction that he would call them if he needed anything, the four had been feeling a bit down. On the drive back, they had even discussed finding excuses to come back and cozy up to him. So when they received the surprise invitation early this morning, they were absolutely thrilled.

"These are your disciples?" Ouyang Mingruo glanced at them. She could tell that aside from Fu Yudie, they were all older than Zhang Yun. No matter how she looked at them, they resembled background extras in a movie.

"Hey, then I must be your future Master’s wife!"

Whether it was her looks, temperament, or the imposing aura she naturally carried, this beautiful woman was completely out of place here. Xu Jin and the other three were already surprised, but hearing the words "Master’s wife" left them utterly shocked.

They wondered, "Are our Master’s flirting skills really this impressive?"

Zhang Yun introduced her with a straight face. "This is Miss Ouyang. She’s recently run into a bit of trouble and wanted to ask me to come out of retirement to help. But a master like me naturally isn’t that easy to hire..."

Hearing his pretentious acting, Ouyang Mingruo couldn’t help but laugh.

"I recommended you guys to protect her. Are you interested? The pay definitely won’t be low, and you’d be doing me a favor." Zhang Yun’s gaze swept over them.

Hearing that they would be bodyguards, the four of them were quite excited. Being a bodyguard was a common career path for martial artists, but without the right connections, they wouldn’t necessarily reach advanced positions.

But his last sentence made them even more thrilled!

They thought, "Master saying we’d be doing him a favor is just him being polite. In reality, this is definitely a test!"

"We’re willing!" they answered in unison, having exchanged a quick glance.

"It still depends on whether she is willing. Put on a performance and show off your greatest capabilities to put Miss Ouyang’s mind at ease!" Zhang Yun spoke very seriously. If they dropped the ball, it would be his face on the line.
