The Fantastic Little Farmer
Chapter 136: Catching Bullets Barehanded?
Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Catching Bullets Barehanded?
After one car exploded, the shockwave triggered a chain reaction, blowing up several other cars parked nearby. The deafening BOOM echoed far and wide, completely dwarfing the sound of gunfire. Flames illuminated the resort villa, making it as bright as day.
Ouyang Mingruo couldn’t see Zhang Yun’s shadow in the rearview mirror. Her chest tightened, and tears welled up in her eyes. Did he sacrifice himself to buy her a chance to escape?
"Trust him! Trust him!" Mingruo muttered to herself. She bit her lip, slammed on the gas pedal, and sped forward.
Inside the building, everyone was startled; no one had anticipated this. Zhang Yun clearly hadn’t gotten into the car, which meant he couldn’t have shot the gas tank. The only explanation was that one of their own stray bullets had hit it by pure coincidence.
Uncle Zhong, the only one who had witnessed Zhang Yun’s "Instant Teleportation" and "Invisibility," was already dead. Seeing Zhang Yun vanish, the rest naturally assumed he had been blown away and swallowed by the flames.
"Get her! Don’t let her escape!"
"They don’t have a gun! Charge!"
Over ten thugs charged out, gripping iron pipes.
Before they could even chase after Ouyang Mingruo, they vaguely spotted Zhang Yun reappearing in the glow of the flames! Startled, everyone skidded to a halt and went on high alert, but upon closer inspection, there was no sign of him.
"Did you guys see that?"
"I think I just saw him..."
"It looked like he was running towards us."
"Impossible. He died in the fire."
As they whispered among themselves, Zhang Yun’s figure materialized once more. Before they could even get a clear look, he blew right past them!
"He’s not dead!" someone shrieked.
Panic instantly gripped the group.
The enemy had a gun! Out in the open with nowhere to hide, weren’t they dead meat? In a flash, they all huddled into a tight mass. Everyone tried to squeeze into the center so that if bullets started flying, the people on the outer edges would serve as human shields.
Zhang Yun completely ignored them. For safety’s sake, he frequently entered the Peach Blossom Spring Space during his sprint, momentarily vanishing into thin air.
Just as Zhang Yun rushed to the doorway, he heard someone yell, "Protect me!" and saw a middle-aged man inside aiming a gun right at the entrance.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Seeing a figure appear, Ouyang Qilin fired like a madman!
Spotting the gun in his hand, Zhang Yun immediately "vanished," and a series of screams instantly erupted outside!
Terrified of being shot by Zhang Yun, the dozen-plus thugs outside had clumped together, completely losing their mobility. Even if someone realized their spot was unsafe, they were wedged too tightly to move.
Ouyang Qilin’s wild spray of bullets flew through the doorway and landed squarely on them. A dozen men huddled together made for a massive target; no aim was required for someone to get hit.
"Second Master, you head upstairs first!" Another middle-aged man materialized beside Ouyang Qilin, vigilantly aiming at the door. It was the same person who had been shooting from the window earlier.
"I’m counting on you, Lei Bing!"
"Don’t worry."
Both men sensed that this Zhang Yun was no ordinary foe. The chain explosions outside had merely been a diversion, and this man had somehow rushed over using some bizarre method.
Right as they spoke, both of them saw Zhang Yun reappear in the doorway!
Lei Bing instantly pulled the trigger!
But Zhang Yun was one step faster.
After firing his shot, Zhang Yun shifted his mind to instantly enter the Peach Blossom Spring Space, reemerging a mere second later.
Lei Bing never would have imagined that he’d be the one getting shot in the head. As he collapsed, his eyes were still wide with utter disbelief.
Ouyang Qilin trembled all over. So many men couldn’t stop this guy? Couldn’t Lei Bing at least manage a mutual kill?
They had clearly both fired at the exact same time, yet Lei Bing was now dead on the floor. Zhang Yun had seemingly only vanished for a split second, and was now standing in the doorway completely unscathed!
In reality, Lei Bing’s bullet had simply flown past and struck some poor bastard outside.
"Do you know why I’m fine?" Zhang Yun offered a mysterious smile. Keeping his gun aimed with one hand, he extended the other, closed in a tight fist.
"Y-you..." The already stunned Ouyang Qilin grew even more terrified. Could someone actually catch a bullet bare-handed?
Was this a joke? Even if his hands were forged from steel, could anyone really be that fast?
Zhang Yun stepped forward slowly, the muzzle of his gun locked onto Ouyang Qilin’s arm. If the man so much as twitched to raise his weapon, Zhang Yun would blast a hole right through his arm.
"As for catching bullets..." Zhang Yun continued as he closed the distance, moving his left fist right up to Ouyang Qilin’s face. "...I obviously can’t do that!"
Ouyang Qilin’s eyes widened to their limits, fully expecting to see a bullet resting in that palm. Instead, his ears heard "obviously can’t do that," and his eyes saw nothing but empty air!
"You’re fucking messing with me!"
He prided himself on being a cunning, far-sighted mastermind orchestrating a usurpation, yet he had been completely bluffed by a fake "bare-handed bullet catch." He had actually believed the guy could do it!
What an absolute humiliation!
Ouyang Qilin immediately raised his gun, ready to put a hole in Zhang Yun. At such point-blank range, he refused to believe his opponent could dodge!
BANG!
A gunshot rang out. Ouyang Qilin’s arm dropped, and his gun slipped from his grasp, clattering to the floor.
It was true—at such close range, dodging was impossible. But it was even more impossible for Ouyang Qilin!
After letting out a howl of pain, Ouyang Qilin instantly started begging for mercy. "Please, don’t kill me..."
A mastermind should have a mastermind’s pride, but he firmly believed in bending when necessary. Just as he had spent years kissing up to and enduring Ouyang Kunpeng, he knew the golden rule: where there is life, there is hope.
Zhang Yun chuckled. "Alright. Stop the bleeding yourself."
"..."
He agreed that easily? Ouyang Qilin didn’t buy it for a second!
He kept his eyes glued to Zhang Yun, not daring to let his guard down. He felt like a mouse being toyed with by a cat. Zhang Yun definitely wasn’t going to let him off this easily; he was definitely planning to torture him!
Zhang Yun casually scooped up both of their guns. It was incredibly hard for anyone who wasn’t a big shot to get their hands on these. In such a dangerous world, it was better to keep them for self-defense.
"Why are you just staring at me? If you keep stalling, you’ll bleed to death before I even have to kill you."
"Are you... really not going to kill me?" Ouyang Qilin still couldn’t believe it.
SLAP!
Zhang Yun struck him hard across the face. "Do you really think I’d need to play games if I wanted to kill you?"
"Right, right! That’s the right attitude..." Ouyang Qilin sighed in relief, a faint smile creeping onto his face.
"..."
Zhang Yun was utterly speechless. This guy was projecting his own twisted nature onto others; if you treated him decently, he assumed it was a conspiracy.
Suddenly, the roar of an engine and the screech of tires echoed from outside. Ouyang Mingruo had sped back!
"AAAH!"
Several of the dozen-plus thugs huddled together had already been hit by friendly fire. Now, with Ouyang Mingruo’s car barreling right at them, they had no time to dodge. They were instantly scattered like billiard balls on a break!
No matter how much Mingruo trusted Zhang Yun, she couldn’t suppress her worry and had returned to save him.
As the car screeched to a halt, she saw Zhang Yun standing in the doorway, flashing her a thumbs-up.
Instantly, Ouyang Mingruo’s hands began to tremble on the steering wheel, and she almost broke down in tears all over again...
