Chapter 166: Chapter 166: The Truth About the Tough Guy

"Sister Xiaoyun’s foot is bothering her, so let’s just stay in. What do you guys want to drink? I’ll go..."

Before Zhang Yun could finish, Feng Ru interrupted. "I checked the reviews, and the hotel’s coffee bar has a pretty nice atmosphere. Let’s go down and sit for a while before we head out for dinner."

"Alright, it’s just downstairs, so we won’t have to walk far." Yang Xiaoyun glanced at Zhang Yun. She figured that if they stayed in the room, even if she didn’t tease Zhang Yun, Feng Ru certainly would. It would be better to go out for drinks. In a public place, they would have to behave themselves and could just play on their phones.

Since they had both agreed, Zhang Yun couldn’t really object. He planned to sit downstairs for a bit, then text He Xiong to come find him so he could use it as an excuse to slip away. There had been too many coincidences today. He really didn’t want to bump into Ouyang Mingruo while escorting two mature beauties... He’d much rather go with He Xiong to his family’s grand exhibition.

"Xiaoyun..."

"What is it?"

Feng Ru burst into a giggle. "Should I call him ’Little Yun’ or just ’Zhang Yun’? I keep mixing up his name with yours."

"Sister Ru, just call him Zhang Yun."

"You, Little Yun, hurry up and help your Sister Xiaoyun." She grabbed Zhang Yun’s hand and pulled him over to support Yang Xiaoyun. Whether intentionally or not, his arm brushed against her chest.

Yang Xiaoyun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "What ’Little Yun’ and ’Sister Xiaoyun’? Just call him Zhang Yun. You’re confusing everyone. It’s not that serious; I can still walk. If I needed to be carried, I wouldn’t be going out for coffee."

Feng Ru ignored her. She was determined to create opportunities for Zhang Yun and Yang Xiaoyun to touch, hoping to help them grow closer naturally.

The coffee bar was in the first-floor lobby. As they stepped out of the elevator, Feng Ru looked around for it, while Zhang Yun quickly scanned the area to see if he might run into Ouyang Mingruo, Ouyang Kunpeng, or anyone similar.

"Over here!"

Feng Ru linked arms with Yang Xiaoyun, and Zhang Yun followed slowly behind. As they headed toward the coffee bar, he actually spotted a familiar face.

"You guys go ahead. I see someone I know; I’m going to go say hi."

Before Feng Ru had arrived, He Xiong had knocked on the door, and Yang Xiaoyun had heard them talking. Knowing he had acquaintances around, she didn’t worry and pulled Feng Ru toward the coffee bar.

The man had been observing the area as well. Seeing Zhang Yun approaching, he immediately turned and walked outside. Zhang Yun quickened his pace and chased after him, finding the man waiting just outside the doors.

"Hello, boss..." the man greeted him humbly as soon as he saw Zhang Yun.

He was actually a boss himself—the leader of the thugs Tang Zhiwei had hired to chop him up earlier.

Under Zhang Yun’s scrutinizing gaze, the gang leader offered a bitter smile. "Please don’t look at me like that. I’m terrified you might blow me away at any second..."

"You have one minute to explain," Zhang Yun sneered.

The leader had already prepared his excuse and quickly explained, "I had stationed someone outside the Vienna to keep an eye on you earlier. After you... taught us a lesson, we were in such a hurry to get Tang Zhiwei and the others to the hospital that I forgot to pull him back. That idiot took it upon himself to follow you from a distance when he saw you changing hotels. Of course, he only knew you were at this Hilton; he didn’t know the exact details..."

Seeing the unfriendly look in Zhang Yun’s eyes, he grew even more nervous. "When he reported back, I cursed him out and told him to get lost so he wouldn’t bother you. But later, I needed to talk to you about something, so I had no choice but to come here and wait."

Zhang Yun stared at him without saying a word.

The leader lowered his voice. "Don’t you have a piece? I know a wealthy boss who’s been wanting to get one for self-defense, but he doesn’t have the right connections. If you’re willing to part with it, or if you can provide a channel, he’ll definitely offer you a satisfying price."

"Hmph!" Zhang Yun scoffed coldly.

Sweat began to bead on the leader’s forehead. He hurriedly apologized, "I didn’t reveal any of your information! He’s just been begging me, and I wanted to earn a little finder’s fee. Times are tough right now; we even have to take money from scum like Tang Zhiwei... To be honest, he doesn’t even want it for self-defense. He just wants to collect it to show off. You could charge him an exorbitant price..."

"Do I look like I need money?" Zhang Yun reached out and gripped his shoulder.

The leader immediately winced in pain, forcing a smile. "You don’t lack money, but no one ever complains about having too much, right? If you happen to have a spare... you know."

Zhang Yun could tell he was terrified, but he had still bitten the bullet and come here just to earn that finder’s fee. It seemed being a gangster these days wasn’t easy.

In countries where firearms weren’t banned, legal gun shops were everywhere, fully stocked with all varieties at dirt-cheap prices. They were just ordinary commodities. But in this country, for the safety of its citizens, they were strictly controlled. You couldn’t buy one even with money, and if you bought one through foreign channels, you couldn’t bring it in. Because of this, there was no standard market price.

Zhang Yun’s current handguns had all been snatched from Ouyang Qilin’s subordinates. Fortunately, he had his Personal Space; otherwise, he wouldn’t have anywhere to hide them, and being caught with them would be a serious offense.

Unlike his ginseng, firearms were a market with prices but no supply. Buyers had no channels to purchase them, and if he wanted to sell, he wouldn’t know how to find buyers without the right connections. The man standing in front of him was exactly that kind of connection.

Zhang Yun pondered for a moment. It would be easy to chase this guy away and force him to keep his mouth shut. But he had already been planning to find an excuse to slip away from the girls anyway—why not just go make a deal? He could at least see what price was being offered. If it was right, selling a piece or two wouldn’t be a bad idea.

"You still haven’t explained your leg!"

Zhang Yun suddenly shifted to another question. He was genuinely puzzled. Earlier, this guy had viciously slashed his own leg. It had connected, and it had bled. That show of toughness was exactly why Zhang Yun had let them off the hook. Yet, just now, he had been walking without the slightest issue!

It was impossible for anyone to heal faster than he did. A small scrape was one thing, but with a deep gash like that, even Zhang Yun wouldn’t have been able to stop the bleeding and heal so quickly.

The gang leader looked a bit ashamed, but also a little sly. He whispered, "Actually, I had a silicone pad strapped to my leg with a small blood pack on top. It was just to bluff... Sorry about that..."

"..."

Zhang Yun had the urge to kick him into orbit. He had thought the guy was a tough guy, but he turned out to be a slippery bastard!

"Boss, how about... you go have a chat? That wealthy boss is very interested... Of course, without your permission, I haven’t dared to reveal a single detail. I came here first to ask you..."

Having already made up his mind, Zhang Yun lowered his voice. "If you dare play me... you know the consequences!"

The leader quickly raised his hand in a swearing gesture, maintaining his sycophantic smile. "How could I dare! I saw what you did earlier with my own eyes... right? My head isn’t as hard as a brick. Should I... call a car over?"

Zhang Yun recalled how a single gunshot earlier had scared all of them into hitting the dirt. Since this guy wasn’t a tough guy after all, he was probably terrified of dying and really just greedy for the finder’s fee. Rather than sipping coffee with two mature beauties while constantly worrying about a coincidental encounter, Zhang Yun was more than happy to play along and see how much money he could make.

"Call a car first. I’ll go tell my friends," Zhang Yun said, using it as an excuse. He needed to head to the restroom to prepare. He couldn’t just make a gun appear out of thin air in front of someone else.
