Chapter 174: You Demonic Cultivator
Chapter 174: Chapter 174: You Demonic Cultivator
"To think that I, Huang Tianbi, have fallen so low!"
Master Huang was extremely indignant, roaring as he spat up blood.
"Yandao, hold on!"
He shouted this last warning as loud as he could, hoping Liu Yandao, who was hiding in the other office, would hear it.
Liu Yandao didn’t respond. Shouting encouragement back and forth with Huang Tianbi was meaningless at this point. The last barrier had fallen; his only priority now was figuring out how to escape as quickly as possible.
Zhang Yun, however, felt that something was off.
Unless this old man claiming to be Huang Tianbi was rushed to a hospital this very second, he was a dead man. His only goal was to stall for time so Liu Yandao could get away.
But Liu Yandao could, at best, escape through the window. Given that Liu was just an average middle-aged man, Zhang Yun was entirely confident he could catch him before he even got into a car.
"Why do I still have this bad feeling?" Zhang Yun wondered. Old Man Huang was already at the end of his rope. After taking another heavy blow, he had collapsed in the corner, completely unable to stand. What kind of threat could he possibly still pose?
"Kid! Tell me who you really are, or I won’t rest in peace! Even as a ghost, I won’t let you off!" Huang Tianbi glared at Zhang Yun, cursing intermittently. He spat blood as he spoke, though the volume was steadily decreasing.
Zhang Yun finally realized what was wrong!
It was perfectly normal for Huang Tianbi to spit blood after being injured, but he had been tightly gripping that short blade the entire time. When he spat blood just now, he had deliberately held the blade in front of him, letting all of the blood land right on the steel.
Furthermore, the blade seemed to possess some kind of suction force. Instead of dripping off, the blood completely congealed on its surface!
Naturally, a few drops of blood had also splattered onto his clothes, which wouldn’t normally have caught Zhang Yun’s attention, but the inexplicable sense of impending danger had forced him to notice this detail.
"Tell me! I’m about to die. Even if I was defeated by you, I’m at least old enough to be your grandfather! Don’t I deserve to die knowing the truth?"
Huang Tianbi continued to speak brokenly, trying his best to cough up more blood as he talked. However, he couldn’t cough up much anymore, and he was growing visibly weaker.
Zhang Yun ignored him, still pondering.
Was there something strange about this short blade?
The Ancient Artifacts he had come into contact with back in the village were limited in both age and quality, and poorly preserved at that. Yet, they still contained a certain amount of Spiritual Energy! Let alone those thousand-year-old, national-treasure-grade antiques.
As for this Huang Tianbi, if he truly came from an Old Martial Arts Family, given his seniority and status, it wasn’t impossible for him to possess an extraordinary Treasure Saber.
Zhang Yun took a step forward and saw Huang Tianbi’s hand twitch!
BANG!
Zhang Yun fired without hesitation, shooting straight through the old man’s shoulder to ensure he couldn’t raise his arm.
"Ah—!"
The elderly master, who had been enduring the pain all this time, finally broke down and let out a bloodcurdling scream.
"Are you crazy?! I’m already dying, and you still want to torture me?"
Zhang Yun quickly stepped forward and stomped on the gunshot wound on his shoulder, eliciting an even louder scream from Huang Tianbi. Only after confirming there was no risk of a sneak attack did he snatch the blade away.
Huang Tianbi’s screams ceased. He looked at Zhang Yun in disbelief. "How... how did you know? Who exactly are you?"
Zhang Yun held up the short blade. Just as he suspected, the blood wasn’t dripping down. Instead, it was condensing on the surface, as if the blade was actively absorbing it!
"Is this it?" Zhang Yun toyed with it disdainfully, as if examining a child’s toy.
While the gunshot had used physical pain to crush the weakened Huang Tianbi, these words shattered him psychologically.
"Impossible... No one else could possibly know the secret of the Blood Demon Blade... Unless you’re an heir of the Demon Sect!"
Huang Tianbi began to mutter to himself before suddenly looking as if he had figured it all out. "No wonder your methods are so bizarre! You’re a descendant of the Demon Sect! Kid, if you dare show your face, everyone on the Righteous Path will have the right to execute you!"
Zhang Yun rolled his eyes at him. "Righteous Path, Demon Sect... These kinds of settings are decades-old cliches from martial arts novels. Who are you trying to bluff? Besides... heh! If this Blood Demon Blade belongs to the Demon Sect, why is it in the hands of someone from the Righteous Path like you? Why is it impossible for anyone to know its secret?"
Huang Tianbi was left momentarily speechless.
"Unless your founders labeled others as the Demon Sect, stole their Treasure Saber, and then silenced them," Zhang Yun continued. "With actions like that, even if you are nominally the Righteous Path, aren’t your deeds those of the demonic path?"
"You’re finished! You will be hunted down by the entire Righteous Path!" Huang Tianbi repeated like a broken record.
Zhang Yun unceremoniously plunged the short blade into his stomach!
He waited for a few seconds, then pulled it out and stabbed it into Huang’s thigh.
"So ruthless! You really are a demonic brat! Kill me if you have the guts! The heroes of the world will avenge me!"
Zhang Yun smiled faintly. "The Blood Demon Blade needs to absorb blood, right? You were feeding it with your spat blood earlier, but it wasn’t fast enough. I’m just lending you a hand."
Huang Tianbi coughed up another mouthful of old blood!
Unfortunately, he had already vomited almost all of it, so he merely spat out a few bloody strands.
It turned out that repeatedly stabbing him wasn’t meant to torture him, but to draw blood from different parts of his body.
"You people from the Demon Sect will die a horrible death!" Huang Tianbi cursed one last time, feeling himself growing weaker by the second.
He had taken three bullets, been kicked, and intentionally spat out a large amount of blood. Now that his blood was being absorbed, his elderly body simply couldn’t withstand the toll.
Zhang Yun sneered. "Feeding a blade with blood and preparing to use an Evil Technique to harm me—yet when you do it, it’s the Righteous Path? When I do it, I’m someone from the Demon Sect? Isn’t that a bit of a double standard?"
He continued stabbing Huang Tianbi in different places, feeling the hilt of the blade grow scorching hot in his hand. It seemed this thing really could absorb blood! Or perhaps it was extracting a person’s Energy through their blood!
"You... you..."
Seeing that the old man was about to kick the bucket and couldn’t provide any more blood, Zhang Yun swiftly turned and left.
He didn’t go to the office to look for Liu Yandao. Although he could easily kick open such a simple door lock, he had wasted some time with Huang Tianbi. Liu Yandao couldn’t possibly be waiting inside to die; he had definitely escaped through the window.
Zhang Yun rushed back to the entrance. Sure enough, he saw Liu Yandao running quickly from outside. His car was parked right here; as long as he got in, he could escape!
"Boss Liu, I’ve been waiting for you."
Seeing a blood-soaked Zhang Yun walk out—pointing a gun at him with one hand while toying with a blood-stained blade in the other—Liu Yandao instinctively stopped in his tracks.
"Is this... Master Huang’s blade? Is that Master Huang’s blood on it?" Even though he had already guessed the answer, Liu Yandao still trembled slightly as he asked.
"Whose blood it is doesn’t matter. What matters is... if someone wants to kill me, I will definitely kill them first!"
Zhang Yun spoke nonchalantly, then suddenly lunged forward, charging right in front of Liu Yandao in the blink of an eye!
Liu Yandao was also holding a gun, but it was just a last resort for self-defense. His reaction time and speed were nowhere near that of a professional.
When Zhang Yun had aimed at him, he had quickly hidden the gun behind his back, preparing to distract Zhang Yun with his words before firing without a trace.
He never expected Zhang Yun to charge so fast. Before his arm could even extend halfway, the blade plunged into his shoulder, rendering him completely unable to control the gun in his hand.
