The Fantastic Little Farmer
Chapter 218: Crow’s Perspective
Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Crow’s Perspective
"It actually wants to run away? Eating my food, drinking my water, I’ve fattened you up so much in just a few days. You’ve even mutated into an Overlord Crow, and now that your wings have grown, you want to flee? You ungrateful Crow! Have you even made any contributions?" he thought indignantly.
Zhang Yun concentrated slightly. Even though it was flying away rapidly, he could clearly sense its location. Inside the Peach Blossom Spring Space, he could sense the turtles and fish, but out here, the Crow was the only soul he had released.
"How should I mess with it?" he wondered.
Earlier, Zhang Yun had only injected his consciousness into it as a form of communication, instructing it to work. He didn’t know how to punish it, so he decided to take this opportunity to experiment.
"Can I control it and make it crash into a wall?"
The moment Zhang Yun had the thought of controlling it, his mind slightly blurred for a split second. Then, he found himself flying in the air!
"Holy crap! What kind of operation is this? Why am I not looking forward, but looking left and right? Hey, hey! Why am I falling?"
A wave of panic washed over Zhang Yun. It felt as if he had just put on AR glasses to play a game; the hyper-realistic augmented reality made him feel completely detached from reality.
The sensation of rapidly plummeting caused his hands to instinctively flap around. The moment he moved, he realized that a pair of left and right wings were flapping, lifting him into flight!
"Wings! Left and right eyes! Am I in the Crow’s point of view?"
Zhang Yun immediately came to his senses. He had just wanted to control the Crow, and he had actually done it! Now, the Crow’s soul was suppressed, and he was the one controlling its body.
This was truly unbelievable, but Zhang Yun immediately grew excited!
Initially, he only wanted to experiment and see how he could control the Crow to prevent it from escaping. He hadn’t expected to strip it of its control rights so easily, gaining a highly realistic firsthand experience.
"Why bother finding ways to control it when I can just take over its body directly? Isn’t this much better?"
"Whoa, whoa! I’m going to hit a tree!" he cried out.
Zhang Yun noticed a lapse in his attention as the body nearly crashed right into a tree. He was still not used to having eyes on the sides of his head.
As he manipulated the Crow’s body to dodge the large tree ahead, his own actual body leaned to one side. When the wings flapped, his hands paddled through the air as well. He soon realized that this looked incredibly silly. If anyone saw him like this, they would think he had lost his mind.
However, it was all part of the process. Never mind AR games—even when playing a console racing game with a controller, people couldn’t help but lean their bodies into sharp turns.
Zhang Yun didn’t deliberately try to correct his posture. Instead, he fully immersed himself in the Crow’s perspective. Having eyes on the sides wasn’t so bad; his peripheral vision could still see what was in front of him. In fact, its field of view was much wider than a human’s.
He tried flying higher. Soon, the entire mountaintop was beneath him. Continuing to ascend, he took in all the large and small peaks, valleys, distant villages, and towns even further away.
He didn’t know what the altitude limit for this Crow was. Anyway, he was just testing it out and saw no need to push it to the extreme, so he shifted to testing its speed.
It had taken Zhang Yun half a day to walk here from the fish pond. In reality, he hadn’t ventured deep into the primeval forest because he had been searching for Fufeng Grass along the way, keeping a slow pace. But now, flying through the sky, he could effortlessly cross roadless valleys, streams, cliffs, and peaks. Traveling in a straight line was so much faster.
He pushed the speed faster and faster, soaring directly over the fish pond and zooming past the skies above Tianxin Village.
What a delightful experience!
Zhang Yun gradually adapted to controlling the Crow. His physical body didn’t need to move; he just needed to use his mind. Whether it was the act of flying or everything he observed, it was all naturally fed back to him.
After experiencing flying, diving, skimming over the water surface, and brushing past cliffs from a first-person perspective, the novelty finally began to wear off for Zhang Yun. He tried loosening his suppression of the Crow’s soul, allowing it to take back control of its own body.
Almost instantly, he sensed a wave of sheer terror!
This emotion was transmitted from the Crow. Zhang Yun’s effortless takeover of its body moments ago had made it realize who the true master was, and who the god that created it was! It reverted back to the reverent and awe-struck attitude it had displayed inside the Peach Blossom Spring Space.
Zhang Yun had originally planned to warn it, but now he felt it was unnecessary. Forcing it to crash into a wall or something similar would be too low-class. Snatching away its bodily control like a god had already instilled a profound fear in it.
While it begged for mercy in terror, Zhang Yun took complete control once again, projecting a crushing dominance over its soul. He made it understand that he not only held its bodily control, but that killing it would take only a single thought.
The Overlord Crow, whose rebellious wings had just been clipped, was now thoroughly subdued.
Zhang Yun directly withdrew his consciousness and stopped controlling its body. Sensing its soul once more, he found that the Crow was already flying honestly close to the ground, obediently searching for Fufeng Grass.
Zhang Yun also felt a sensation of returning to his own body. He couldn’t help but go cross-eyed for a moment, still feeling a bit like a crow. Looking around, he was still sitting on the ground, entirely incapable of flight.
It truly felt like he had just played a game, only the immersion had been incredibly perfect.
"Whether it’s miraculous or illusory, being able to occasionally use the Crow’s body to see the aerial scenery at least... saves me the money of buying a drone!" he mused.
However, a drone could take photos, whereas he could only look through the Crow’s perspective.
Zhang Yun began to ponder again. If he could operate the Crow like this, logically, he should be able to do the same with the turtles and the fish.
"Is there any place where I can put them to use?
"Turtles... never mind. Would I use them to compete in being slow? But those few solid-colored goldfish—if I ever go to a river, lake, or the sea, I can release them to experience an underwater perspective.
"Ah! I made a mistake!
"If I had known about this effect earlier, I should have kept that huge cobra alive! A snake’s perspective would probably be a pretty good experience. Besides, if such a large cobra grew up and mutated, it would become a genuine giant snake! Then it wouldn’t just be for playing around with perspectives; I could release it to fight when encountering enemies!"
Zhang Yun felt a wave of regret. He couldn’t resist entering the Peach Blossom Spring Space to see if the cobra could still be saved. After all, snakes of that size were rare. Even if there were still many in the mountains, he had to be able to find them first.
"Brother Snake, wake up... I stabbed you, wake up, get up and take your medicine," Zhang Yun muttered.
Unfortunately, no matter how much he poked it, the cobra was as dead as a doornail... There was no other way; he could only take it back to make snake soup.
"Wait... it wasn’t a single snake, right? But... I just stabbed it to death. Going after its snake wife and snake children right after seems a bit inappropriate," he pondered.
Then, he rationalized, "Brother Snake! Rest in peace! I will take care of your wife and children!"
Exiting the Peach Blossom Spring Space, Zhang Yun immediately began searching the surroundings. He had already looked around earlier and hadn’t found any Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures or exotic flora. Now, he was looking for any traces of a snake’s path.
If he could find a snake nest, even if there were no snakes, having snake eggs would be good too. A small snake he hatched himself would be even more affectionate.
