The Fantastic Little Farmer
Chapter 249: The Female Ghost’s True Identity
Smashing him directly with a rock?
The person outside was unexpectedly ruthless. No wonder Zhang Yun had sensed danger.
If he had crawled out headfirst just now, his body would have been stuck inside, making it impossible to dodge. His skull would have been cracked wide open!
Zhang Yun’s anger flared. He swiftly lunged out, raising his fists the moment he emerged.
SMASH!
Another rock came hurtling toward him!
Zhang Yun quickly reached out and snatched it right before it could hit his face, his momentum continuing to carry him forward.
SMASH!
Yet another rock flew at him.
Zhang Yun reached out again and caught it.
By now, he was completely out of the hole. The two rocks had become Weapons he could use to counterattack.
Based on the trajectory of the attacks, he had already pinpointed his assailant’s location. Without even waiting to stand up straight, his gaze locked onto a large tree.
A figure stepped out from behind the tree.
It was the white-clad Female Ghost from before!
Standing right there under the midday sun—that alone proved she wasn’t actually a ghost, right?
“It’s you.” The Female Ghost didn’t attack him again; instead, she walked toward him.
Zhang Yun had been seething with anger, ready to smash her head in with the rocks in his hands. Hearing her words, however, made him hesitate.
He thought, “So she recognized me? Did she mistake me for a common grave robber and strike to kill, only to stop when she realized who I was?”
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
Seeing that she wasn’t holding any more rocks, Zhang Yun tossed his away as well.
“Just confirming whether or not you’re actually a ghost.” He pointed at the sun, implying that ghosts shouldn’t be able to appear in broad daylight.
The Female Ghost maintained her distance and came to a halt.
“You trespassed into someone else’s home without permission just to confirm that?”
Zhang Yun laughed. “Last time, you ran on someone else’s roof and crept outside my window. Wasn’t that trespassing without permission? Also!”
He pointed at her from head to toe. “According to you, you ‘found’ all those clothes in the village, which means you stole them! You should strip them all off!”
The Female Ghost fell silent for a moment before returning to the main topic. “What exactly is your goal?”
Zhang Yun’s expression turned serious. “You dressed up as a Female Ghost and ran to my house in the middle of the night. Of course I have to figure out what’s going on! Now I’ve opened the coffin and taken a look. There are no bones inside. So, are you a human, or are you a zombie?”
The Female Ghost’s tone had been completely flat until now, but upon hearing this, a trace of anger seeped into her voice.
“Last time, you claimed to be polite. Is opening someone else’s coffin considered polite?”
“Who exactly are you? How can you prove this coffin belongs to you? Here, look!” Zhang Yun picked up the tombstone from the ground. “Does this have your name written on it?”
“…”
“So, stop acting like I broke into your home. When you broke into my house, that was actual trespassing on a property with a deed. But here? Not only can you not prove this is your home, you definitely don’t have the property deed for it!”
Zhang Yun’s logic was irrefutable. How could an ancient grave have a property deed?
“You’re incredibly rude. I’ll just have to capture you first!”
With that, the Female Ghost’s feet seemed to glide across the ground, and she instantly appeared right in front of Zhang Yun!
Zhang Yun’s hands shot out, aiming straight for her face in an attempt to snatch off her Faceless mask.
The Female Ghost’s palms swiftly met Zhang Yun’s. Though her hands were clearly soft, a surging, enduring force erupted the moment they made contact, directly sending Zhang Yun flying backward!
Zhang Yun did a flip mid-air and landed lightly on his feet. The Lightweight Body Technique he had tested yesterday and practiced for most of today was already showing results, saving him from a miserable fall.
“Huh?” The Female Ghost let out a sound of surprise, realizing that in just the two days since they last met, Zhang Yun’s strength had improved dramatically!
How could a normal person increase their strength so rapidly in such a short time?
There was only one explanation: he had absorbed the Energy from her coffin!
“You thief!”
The Female Ghost charged straight at Zhang Yun again. With a light raise of her pale hands, she quickly formed a strange mudra and thrust her palm directly toward Zhang Yun’s chest!
Zhang Yun neither dodged nor retreated. Instead, he flashed her a confident, enigmatic smile!
She thought, “Is he mocking me? He stole from me, and he still has the gall to mock me? Damn him!”
Just as the Female Ghost’s attack was inches from his chest, he suddenly spoke up.
“Yuan You!”
The Female Ghost’s entire body trembled, but she couldn’t pull back her hand in time. Her palm struck squarely against Zhang Yun’s chest.
Zhang Yun instantly felt as if he had been hit by a freight train!
He was sent flying backward down the slope, crashing into the ground over a dozen meters away.
He felt the blood boiling in his chest and had a sudden urge to vomit blood.
He wondered, “How could she be so powerful? It was clearly just a fluttery palm strike that looked like it wouldn’t pack even a fraction of the punch of someone like Asura. How could it carry such massive impact force?”
Zhang Yun felt that the strike hadn’t just affected the point of contact. The force had penetrated his body, rapidly dispersing and sweeping through every inch of him, leaving him with an indescribably agonizing sensation.
He wasn’t entirely sure what was happening to his body, but he could sum it up with a crude categorization: external trauma plus internal injuries!
This person was somehow vastly stronger than a hulking brute like Asura!
Zhang Yun also quickly realized a crucial flaw. It wasn’t that he had overestimated his defensive capabilities; it was that he had never studied or practiced any form of defense. He had purely relied on his body’s natural endurance to tank the hit, failing to properly utilize his strength.
His vision focused on the “Female Ghost” in the white tracksuit, who had already caught up and was standing right in front of him.
“Stop pretending. You’re human, and you’re Yuan You.”
Zhang Yun spoke very carefully, afraid that he might spit out a mouthful of blood. Fortunately, he could feel his body’s astonishing recovery speed at work. The uncomfortable internal injuries caused by her attack were rapidly dissipating.
The Female Ghost fell silent for a moment before taking off the Faceless mask. Since she had been seen through, there was no point in wearing it anymore.
“You recognized me at the hospital yesterday? And you came here today to open the coffin to prove it? How did you do it?”
Yuan You was genuinely baffled. Guessing that she was human was normal enough—after all, no one had actually seen a real ghost, and the likelihood of her being a martial arts master was far higher than her being an undead spirit. But how had he pinpointed her identity?
“Open your mouth,” she ordered.
“What?” The moment Zhang Yun opened his mouth, he felt something being flicked inside.
“It will help heal your injuries.”
“HAH—PTOOEY!”
Zhang Yun immediately spat the pill out. “You’re the one who attacked and injured me just now! How do I know if this is healing medicine or poison?”
“Are you crazy? Do you know how rare this is?”
Yuan You bent down, wanting to pick the pill up, but Zhang Yun’s saliva had already dissolved its outer layer. Picking it up to store it again was pointless unless someone ate it right now. Since Zhang Yun refused to take it, was she supposed to eat it?
If it had merely fallen on the ground, she might have just wiped it off and swallowed it herself, but it was covered in Zhang Yun’s spit…
“Then just suffer in pain!” she scolded, clearly heartbroken over the wasted pill.
“Heh! What we were doing just now was basically sparring, and I didn’t even take it seriously. But you suddenly struck with lethal intent, knocking me hundreds of meters away. It just shows how vicious your heart is. So why pretend to be the good guy now?” Zhang Yun sat up.
“How did you find out?” Yuan You still couldn’t wrap her head around it. She had been pretending to be a ghost, floating like a phantom without walking normally the entire time, all while wearing a mask. At the hospital, she had appeared as just an ordinary girl, and she certainly hadn’t been wearing the same pair of shoes.
