Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Then Just Save Up Slowly

Zhang Yun was completely baffled by his father’s behavior. Suddenly, he wasn’t even allowed to finish his meal.

"Hide?" Zhang Fu asked, confused. "Hide from what?"

"No... you’re the one who told me to leave. Where am I supposed to go?" Zhang Yun was even more puzzled.

Zhang Fu lowered his voice. "That was just the first wave. More people are definitely coming. Those guys don’t matter since you can just shoo them away. But after mealtime, anyone with even the slightest connection to us will come knocking to borrow money!"

"Oh..." Zhang Yun finally realized what was going on. "Should I leave some cash for you, then?"

"No need! Hurry up and deposit it all in the bank. Put it all into a fixed-term account!"

Zhang Fu knew his own weaknesses; he would likely be too embarrassed to refuse if someone begged him face-to-face. Therefore, the money couldn’t stay in the house. The longer the fixed-term deposit at the local bank, the higher the interest rate, giving him the perfect excuse not to touch it.

"Can I at least finish eating first?"

"You can eat anytime, but it’ll be a hassle if people show up asking for money! Hurry up!" His own father was literally kicking him out before he could finish his meal.

Left with no choice, Zhang Yun returned to his room to "fetch" the leather suitcase so his father could see it with his own eyes.

Zhang Fu had already seen two hundred thousand in cash yesterday, so the shock was much smaller for him compared to others. However, since this money actually belonged to their family, the feeling was uniquely exhilarating.

"Swap it out. This is too flashy. The moment you step outside, everyone will know you’re carrying a suitcase full of cash!"

Zhang Fu found a few plastic bags to wrap the bundles of money in. He then stuffed them all into a woven fertilizer sack and strapped it to the back of the motorcycle.

"Hehe, this case is pretty sturdy. It’ll make great luggage."

Zhang Yun felt he was being low-key enough. Yet, as he rode through the village, he was met with envious stares from the villagers. It was painfully obvious that everyone had guessed the sack was filled with money, and they all knew he was heading to the bank!

One million! Casually tossed into a woven sack meant for fertilizer and animal feed! To the villagers, the visual impact of that was even greater than a high-end leather suitcase.

This left Zhang Yun feeling helpless. He thought to himself, "I never intended to show off or act tough. I was trying to be low-key. This is all Ouyang Kunpeng’s fault..."

When he arrived at the bank branch, it was still the lunch break. There was only one clerk on duty at the counter, and the bank was empty of customers.

"What business are you here for?" A middle-aged security guard walked over to guide him after noticing Zhang Yun looking around with a woven sack in his hand.

"Depositing money."

"There’s an ATM outside over there. You can use it for both withdrawals and deposits."

"I know," Zhang Yun smiled. "But I have quite a bit to deposit. I’d like the in-person VIP service."

"What? VIP?" The security guard looked him up and down, a clear *You?* written all over his face.

Zhang Yun had spent the entire morning threshing grain. Even though he had washed the mud off his hands and feet, he hadn’t changed into clean clothes. Covered in dirt and stray bits of straw, he looked exactly like someone who had just stepped out of the fields. And looking at the worn woven sack in his hand, it seemed as if he had just finished grocery shopping at the local farmer’s market. *This* guy wanted VIP service?

"How much do I need to deposit to get VIP service?" Zhang Yun asked. He thought, "It’s not like I’m trying to make things difficult for you. I just don’t want to cause a scene. Besides, there’s no way I can shove a million through that tiny teller window."

The security guard deliberately pulled Zhang Yun over to the counter and pointed at a notice. "For deposits under 20,000, please use the ATM."

Zhang Yun nodded. Rules were rules. "So, how much do I need to deposit to get VIP service?"

Before the security guard could answer, the female clerk on duty behind the glass spoke up impatiently. "We don’t have VIP service! If you want to deposit money and it’s less than twenty thousand, go outside. Only come here if it’s over twenty thousand!"

Even though there were no other customers around, she simply didn’t believe Zhang Yun had more than twenty thousand to deposit.

"I’ll make a deposit then..." Zhang Yun placed his woven sack on the counter.

The female clerk looked at it with utter disgust, and the security guard immediately pointed at him. "Put your stuff on the floor! Have some manners, you’re going to get the counter dirty!"

"Oh." Holding the sack with one hand, Zhang Yun opened it and pulled out a bundled stack of cash.

Seeing this massive bundle of cash, both the security guard and the clerk were dumbfounded. Based on their daily experiences, that single stack had to be at least eighty to a hundred thousand.

Zhang Yun gauged the thickness, pulled out a smaller chunk, and slid it over. "Here is my card. Count this and see if it’s enough for twenty thousand."

The clerk was thrown completely off balance. It was her first time encountering a customer like this. Who wouldn’t count their money clearly before depositing it? Who just randomly pulled out a handful like that?

She quickly ran the cash through the money counter. "This is 32,000. Do you only want to deposit 20,000?"

"Then deposit the 32,000."

Since he was a genuine customer depositing more than twenty thousand, the clerk dropped her disgusted attitude and immediately processed the transaction.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?"

Zhang Yun pulled another chunk from the remaining bundle. "Deposit this too."

The clerk was a bit stunned. It looked like another random handful, but she ran it through the machine anyway. "This is 21,200."

"Mm, deposit it all."

The moment the clerk finished and handed the receipt over, Zhang Yun split the remaining cash in half and pushed one stack through the window.

"Deposit it all."

The clerk’s face turned a shade of green. She could tell he was doing this on purpose! But there was only enough for one more transaction at most, so she swallowed her annoyance.

After she finished, Zhang Yun handed over the final stack. "Deposit this too."

The clerk counted the cash, processed the deposit, and then said in a passive-aggressive tone, "It’s just a hundred thousand, isn’t it? Did you really have to split it into four transactions? Are you trying to mess with me, or are you just trying to find excuses to talk to me?"

Zhang Yun laughed. "I saw how great your customer service attitude was, so I thought I’d find you some extra work to do."

"Heh! Right, I’m just so free! Bring more money to deposit if you have it. As long as it’s over twenty thousand, I’ll happily deposit it for you transaction by transaction!" The clerk shoved the receipt back through the slot. Her face was filled with contempt. She wondered why he thought he could show off a measly hundred thousand in front of her. Did he think she had never seen money before? They were a bank, for crying out loud!

"Alright. Let’s keep going then!" Zhang Yun pulled out a second bundle. Dividing it into five parts would require too much calculating, but splitting it into four random chunks guaranteed that each would easily exceed twenty thousand.

The clerk’s face darkened. She hadn’t expected him to actually have more money!

The security guard paced around Zhang Yun with a deeply displeased expression, but since the customer was legitimately depositing money, there was nothing he could say.

Transaction after transaction went by, and a line of customers began to form behind him.

"Keep going!" Zhang Yun pulled out the third bundle.

"Sir! Are you planning to deposit all of it? I can process it for you all at once!" the female clerk said, suppressing her rising anger.

"I only want to deposit this much for now. I’ll decide if I want to deposit the rest later. After all, your bank’s service attitude dictates whether I want to keep depositing my money here." Smiling cheerfully, Zhang Yun pulled off another random chunk.

The people lining up behind him had initially grown impatient. However, once they realized Zhang Yun was intentionally messing with the bank, they happily settled in to watch the show. They weren’t in a rush, and it wasn’t every day they got to see entertainment like this!

By the twelfth transaction, he had finally deposited three hundred thousand.

The clerk simply didn’t believe that this country bumpkin could pull out any more cash. Having been tormented so many times with a crowd watching, she felt too bitter to let it go.

"Do you have any more money to deposit? If not, kindly step aside for the next person in line!"

"Then I suppose I’ll deposit a little more." Zhang Yun pulled out a fourth bundle.

The customers in line, loving the drama, started cheering from behind. "We’re not in a hurry! Take your time depositing, boss!"

The female clerk was on the verge of a breakdown. This meant she had to process four more transactions! She panicked, thinking, "Wait a minute! I saw him carrying that woven sack earlier. Could it be that the entire bag is filled with money? How many transactions will that take? I can’t handle this!"
