Chapter 98: You’re So Scheming!

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: You’re So Scheming!

Zhang Yun feigned an exaggerated look of shock. "No way? I honestly thought you came to visit me out of the goodness of your hearts as old classmates, but you’re actually here to borrow money from me?"

"Of course it’s because of our friendship."

"Right, right, sincerely."

Gao Dajin and Liu Yu hurriedly gave awkward smiles.

Yang Bo, however, looked serious. "Zhang Yun, I know you wouldn’t leave me in the lurch."

"Whether you live or die is none of my damn business. I’m pretty sure I already turned you down." Since Yang Bo was being pushy, Zhang Yun didn’t hold back in his refusal.

"Zhang Yun!" Yang Bo, afraid of attracting Zhang Fu, kept his voice down. "I’m just asking to borrow money, not do anything bad. If you didn’t have much and couldn’t lend me a hundred thousand, I’d accept it. But you just got a whole suitcase of cash yesterday!"

"So? What the fuck does it have to do with you?" Zhang Yun sneered. "Just because I have money, I have to lend it to you? Where do you get the nerve?"

Hearing Zhang Yun’s merciless rejection, Liu Yu and Gao Dajin felt incredibly awkward for Yang Bo. Both sensibly refrained from chiming in, otherwise they would be the ones embarrassed.

"Haha, I am shameless." Yang Bo plastered on a smile and smacked his own cheek. "Zhang Yun, if you’re upset, you can hit me again! If you want me to... bark like a dog, I’ll do it!"

Let alone Zhang Yun being stunned by this attitude, even Liu Yu and Gao Dajin, who were more familiar with him, were dumbfounded. Holy crap! Just to borrow some money, could someone really be this utterly shameless? He had always built up the persona of a small contractor and a rural rich kid. Just to borrow a hundred grand, was it really necessary to go this far?

Zhang Yun suddenly understood. What could make Yang Bo stoop so low? First, he was certain Zhang Yun had money, so lending a hundred thousand was nothing, making the chances high. Second, Yang Bo must have already exhausted all other borrowing options to humble himself like this.

"I’m just joking! No matter our relationship, we’re still old classmates after all. How could I do such a thing?" Zhang Yun shook his head.

Yang Bo grabbed his hand, saying excitedly, "I knew you were the most loyal! You’re a good brother, you definitely wouldn’t leave a man to die; you’ll give me a hand!"

Zhang Yun scoffed. "Tsk, tsk, such pretty words. Are you trying to guilt-trip me? So if I don’t lend you the money, it means I’m disloyal, not a brother, and leaving you to die?"

"Haha! We all know that you’re not that kind of person, Zhang Yun."

"Right, right, you’ve always been so kind-hearted."

"We always thought you were a good guy back then."

Seeing that there was a glimmer of hope, Liu Yu and Gao Dajin chimed in.

Zhang Yun smiled brightly, but his words remained a blunt rejection. "See! You guys really don’t know me well, do you? We were never brothers to begin with! I’m the least loyal person out there, and I absolutely love leaving people in the lurch!"

Gao Dajin couldn’t help but marvel inwardly. One launched a shameless offense, while the other immediately threw up a thick-skinned defense!

"Don’t be like that! We all know you..." Seeing that Zhang Yun genuinely didn’t want to lend the money, Yang Bo immediately pulled out his trump card. "I’ll introduce you to a girlfriend!"

Zhang Yun flipped his hair. "The three of you combined aren’t even as handsome as I am. Do you think I can’t find a girlfriend? Even if I’m broke and living in the countryside, finding a pretty village girl is a piece of cake!"

"No, I mean... I’ll help you pursue Chen Hui!"

Yang Bo’s words instantly drew the attention of Liu Yu and Gao Dajin. "Hui? Are you serious?"

"You? Help me pursue Chen Hui?" Zhang Yun shot him a look of utter disdain, thinking that if he really wanted to pursue her, he certainly wouldn’t need Yang Bo’s help.

"Chen Hui was the most beautiful girl in our class, right? You could even consider her the prettiest in the whole school back then. If you claim you never liked her, you’re just being a hypocrite!" Yang Bo looked absolutely certain. "She’s grown even more beautiful now, and she goes to a top-tier university. Are you telling me you’re not tempted?"

"I’m realizing you really are full of yourself. Chen Hui is obviously outstanding, but what makes you think you can help me pursue her?" Zhang Yun mocked mercilessly.

Yang Bo snorted. "Because I know a secret of hers!"

"A secret?" Gao Dajin and Liu Yu grew even more excited. From the past up until now, they could both be considered admirers of Chen Hui. They just knew their place and wouldn’t dare pursue her. Hearing that Yang Bo was going to help Zhang Yun pursue their goddess made them a little jealous, but hearing about her secret made them unable to suppress their excitement.

"Don’t worry about what the secret is. As long as you lend me the money, I guarantee I’ll help you win Chen Hui’s heart!" Yang Bo patted his chest.

A secret? A guarantee to win over Chen Hui? If it were before, Zhang Yun would have simply thought he was bragging. But after video calling Chen Hui the other day and learning about the missed confession from years ago, he now had a pretty good idea of what it was.

Zhang Yun chuckled. "Heh, by knowing Chen Hui’s secret, you mean the fact that she had a crush on me back in school, right?"

"What?" All three of them were shocked. Liu Yu and Gao Dajin were stunned—how could Chen Hui have had a crush on Zhang Yun? They had never really interacted that much. Yang Bo, on the other hand, was shocked because Zhang Yun had hit the nail on the head!

"You bastard! Do you know why I never liked you, why I never added you as a friend back then, and why I haven’t accepted your request now? The letter Chen Hui wrote to me back then was stolen by you!" Zhang Yun bluffed, pretending he had known all along. Coupled with the fact that their relationship was indeed poor in the past and they had never exchanged contact information, his claim seemed entirely logical.

Yang Bo turned pale with fright!

"Y-you saw it? That’s impossible! I watched her put it in your backpack, and I took it away right after..."

Back then, he wasn’t just an admirer; he could even be considered a suitor. He just hadn’t been too obvious about it, though he constantly kept his eyes on Chen Hui. When he discovered that Chen Hui had actually slipped a letter to Zhang Yun, his jealousy became uncontrollable, and he immediately stole it. Seeing that it was a love letter fueled the flames of his jealousy even more! Of course, he never told anyone about this. Afterwards, he intentionally and unintentionally ruined Zhang Yun’s image in front of Chen Hui and never gave them the chance to interact alone. But Zhang Yun actually knew!

His shocked outburst just now left Liu Yu and Gao Dajin feeling complicated and bitter.

"Yang Bo, is this true?"

Yang Bo ignored them. Unaware that he had been tricked into confessing, he thought Zhang Yun had finally snapped and revealed the truth. He immediately began to berate him.

"Zhang Yun! You’re really scheming! You’ve known about this all along, yet you never said a word and acted like nothing happened. Have you been treating me like a joke this whole time?

"That’s right! I liked Chen Hui back then. I sabotaged you two, and I never gave you the chance to be alone together. I thought I succeeded! But it turns out you fucking knew everything! Have you been playing me for a fool this whole time, watching me perform like a clown?"

Liu Yu and Gao Dajin wanted to intervene, but they didn’t know where to start. It had been years, and they were completely in the dark.

"And now you bring it up... Heh! You’re really something! Just now I was begging you, offering to let you slap my face or bark like a dog, and you were just waiting here to deal a critical hit!" Yang Bo had completely lost his composure.

SLAP!

Zhang Yun unceremoniously struck Yang Bo across the face!

Liu Yu and Gao Dajin jumped in fright. Words were one thing, and wasn’t Zhang Yun the one with the upper hand? Why did he suddenly get physical?
