Chapter 2835: Chapter 2835: One Year (4)

That Jiang Dayong is from the Jiang Family Village in Qinghua Town, with two acres of land at home. He used to live with his mother, but after losing two wives in a row and being labeled as a jinx, his mother fell ill from worry and passed away two years ago.

However, Jiang Dayong is tall and strong, and good at work. He takes care of the crops and earns some cash by doing labor at the dock during his free time, so he’s getting by.

Initially, he had given up on getting married again, thinking he could just live on his own. He didn’t expect anyone would be willing to marry him now, so he had no reason to be picky; as long as it’s a woman, that’s fine.

In fact, Yang Baihe’s features are quite pretty, and the struggles of recent days have made her lose a lot of weight, so at first glance, she’s still quite attractive.

Jiang Dayong isn’t ugly either.

And so, the matter was settled just like that.

Yang Ruxin was amazed by the speed of it all, this just sounds like a flash marriage, let’s hope it doesn’t end in a flash divorce.

Jiang Dayong gave a sincere betrothal gift of ten taels of silver.

Some might say he could buy a wife with that amount, but his second wife was bought, and she died less than half a year later. So, he doesn’t plan to buy one again.

As for old man Yang, he didn’t shortchange Yang Baihe and gave her the ten taels as dowry, plus two chests of bridal gifts.

Yang Ruxin didn’t expect Yang Baihe to visit her before the wedding; although she wasn’t fond of her, she didn’t avoid her either.

"Yang Ruxin, I’m getting married." Yang Baihe looked at Yang Ruxin with a peculiar expression.

"Congratulations." Yang Ruxin smiled, "I hope you can live a happy life from now on."

"Aren’t you going to give me something for the wedding?" Yang Baihe frowned.

Yang Ruxin’s mouth twitched: "My mom and mother-in-law have already given you wedding gifts, I’m your junior, what gifts could I possibly add?"

"Because you have a high position!" Yang Baihe said with an air of self-righteousness.

Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but laugh and cry; this one seemed to be particularly eager to squeeze a bit of silver from her. However, she didn’t refuse this time: "I can give you a wedding gift, but I have a condition, which is you must live a good life. How about this, after you’ve been married for a year, I’ll give you a gift worth no less than a hundred taels of silver."

"Why a year?"

"Whether you’re living a good life or not, a year’s time should be enough to tell." Yang Ruxin spread her hands.

"Alright, remember what you said." Yang Baihe turned to leave but returned after a few steps, "But what if he really is a jinx and I don’t survive a year?"

"I think your fate is tougher than his." Yang Ruxin touched her nose.

"You never know."

"Okay, if something unfortunate truly happens, I will burn the promised gift for you."

"Keep your word, or else I won’t let you off even as a ghost." Yang Baihe finished speaking and turned away, walking off with a proud sway of her curvy hips.

Yang Ruxin furrowed her brow as she watched the figure recede into the distance and couldn’t help but sigh. That was one thoughtless person, no point in arguing with her, but hopefully, she stops being troublesome. Otherwise, once old man Yang passes, she’ll be utterly alone for the rest of her life.

"Thanks, big cousin." Yang Rusong appeared from nowhere.

"Yang Scholar, how do you always appear and disappear like that?" Yang Ruxin frowned slightly, "Where were you hiding just now?"
