The First God-Tier Necromancer
Chapter 67: Titanic battle.
Steam still rolled from the Colossal Titan’s exposed muscular body, carrying waves of heat across the muddy ground.
Leon stared up at it for several seconds.
"What the fuck is this?"
His gaze travelled upward and then it stopped.
"...Well, looks like little brother disappeared during the transformation."
"Probably for the best though, it won’t be a great site to lo—"
Karl smacked him across the back of the head.
"Where the fuck are you looking? Focus on the mission."
Leon rubbed his head and finally checked the creature properly.
[Colossal Titan]
[Level: 130]
[Rank: Overlord]
[Designation: Mini-Boss]
"Level 130, it doesn’t sound so terrible."
"If it were that simple, the Pyroars wouldn’t have spent generations hiding from it."
Behind them, the old chief had already lost what little composure he had left.
Seraphine listened briefly and the looked at Karl "The guy wants us to retreat."
Before anyone could answer, the Titan threw its head back and roared and then charged towards them.
For something that large, the distance disappeared almost instantly, the Titan raised one arm and punched straight down.
Karl and Leon jumped apart while Mira sank directly into the shadows.
Seraphine grabbed the old chief and pulled him away from the center.
The fist struck the ground and the ground shattered open.
Mud, stone and thick roots were thrown into the air as cracks ripped outward from the impact and a shockwave tore across the surrounding forest.
Karl landed hard and immediately summoned the Death Stick, death Energy spread around him.
Nearly five hundred skeletons appeared across the battlefield.
Every one of them was Level 99 and Elite-rank, the strongest large batch Karl had properly evolved before most of his Death Energy started disappearing into the Sun Knight’s unfinished evolution.
Then Big Rod emerged, the Golden King Tiger normally looked enormous even among Karl’s undead.
But next to the Titan, he looked almost like a puppy.
Karl directed the skeletons outward while Big Rod took the center.
Leon rushed forward with his strange evolving weapon and Mira’s presence disappeared between the shadows around the battlefield.
The Titan did not wait for them to surround it, instead it slammed his foot on the ground and a strange pressure surrounded the area.
Several skeletons dropped onto one knee while others stumbled as if something had multiplied their weight in an instant.
Next the titan swung at the most threatening looking target and a huge fist crashed into Big Rod’s side and knocked the undead tiger across the muddy ground.
At the same time, the first group of skeletons forced their way through the pressure and attacked from behind.
The Titan turned before they reached it and one sweep of its arm sent several bodies flying, then it stepped through the broken formation and drove its fist down again.
The earth shattered beneath the impact.
A wide section of ground buckled and burst upward, throwing undead apart before they could close around it.
Karl immediately spread the remaining formation wider.
The Titan Field was making dense groups useless.
Leon came in from the side and struck across its leg while Mira emerged from the Titan’s shadow and cut at the back of its knee.
Both attacks landed and the Titan turned sharply.
Mira vanished before its hand reached her, while Leon barely pulled his weapon away before a second strike swept through the place he had been standing.
Big Rod returned from the other side and his claws tore several deep lines across the Titan’s calf but was kicked away
The Titan then moved towards leon though Leon dodged the fist, the shockwave still caught him and threw him several metres away.
He landed, rolled once and got straight back up.
"Tch."
The fight continued around the lake, Karl kept the skeletons moving rather than letting them pile up in one place.
Big Rod repeatedly forced the Titan to deal with him directly, Leon attacked whenever its attention shifted and Mira continued appearing from different shadows before vanishing again.
They were landing hits and cuts had already opened across both legs and one arm.
Another Death Severance left a long wound across the Titan’s torso.
But every time Karl tried to close the formation around those injuries, the creature moved before the stronger attacks could properly come together.
The Titan Field around it suddenly intensified.
Several skeletons were pushed hard enough into the ground for their feet to sink into the mud.
The Titan rushed through them and tore open the formation, then one punch smashed a skeleton apart and continued into the earth beneath it.
The longer the fight continued, the more violent it became, steam poured harder from the Titan’s shoulders and back and the lake started bubbling.
The titan next vanished from where it stood and another line of skeletons was broken apart.
Another line of skeletons was broken apart as the Titan moved through them, black bones scattering across the muddy ground.
Karl stared at the remains for a moment before finally asking,
"System, are you sure Monarch’s Evolution actually evolved these things?"
Another skeleton was caught by the Titan’s arm and smashed apart almost immediately.
"They’re still breaking like sticks."
The System responded.
[Host, no matter how strong a mouse becomes, can it kill a strong cat?]
Karl frowned.
"What kind of comparison is that?"
[A correct one.]
[It definitely cannot.]
Karl’s mouth twitched.
"So I just wasted all those points evolving them?"
The reply came almost immediately.
[Nah, nah, Host.]
[You have learned two important lessons.]
Karl already knew he wasn’t going to like this.
[Invest your resources more carefully next time.]
[And fight opponents your undead can actually handle.]
Karl waved the notifications away.
"Shut up."
The System disappeared and Karl sighed before returning his attention to the Titan.
Annoying as it was, there was some truth to what it said.
Karl and Leon were still Tier 1 despite everything they had gained, and neither of them had many abilities capable of producing enough explosive damage to seriously injure something like a Level 130 Overlord in one go.
Mira had already completed her First Transition, but she was still stuck halfway inside Shadow Body and couldn’t properly use several of the abilities that should have come with it.
Karl glanced toward Seraphine.
"Weren’t you a Divine Priestess of a god? How are you so useless right now?"
Seraphine’s grip tightened around her staff.
"For the nth time, I am not a battle mage."
She pointed the staff toward the Titan.
"Most of my stronger abilities are locked because of the level I’m stuck at."
"The ones I can still use are either too weak against that thing or need time to prepare."
"So if you want me to do something useful, keep that giant still for a while."
Karl raised his hands slightly.
"Okay, okay now don’t get mad."
The Titan slammed another skeleton into the ground.
Leon stared at it for a few seconds.
"Fuck it."
His strange weapon shifted in his hands.
"I’ve had enough."
The unstable mass began changing shape as Leon forced it outward.
The handle stretched while the upper section widened, gradually forming into an enormous battle axe almost as large as Leon himself and then Qi erupted from his body.
Martial Saint Descent.
Dense Qi covered Leon from head to toe and his attributes surged by five hundred percent.
The Titan turned toward him and Leon kicked off the ground.
He crossed the distance quickly and brought the massive axe down with both hands.
The Titan did not dodge and one of its enormous fists came forward with full force and met the descending weapon directly.
BOOM!
The collision sent a shockwave through the surrounding area and the mud beneath them burst outward.
For a moment, neither side moved but then Leon gritted his teeth and pushed harder as Qi continued pouring through his body and into the weapon.
The Titan answered with another growl and forced more strength into its arm.
Then the axe began moving and its blade cut into the Titan’s hand.
The creature roared as the weapon forced its way deeper, splitting through the palm and tearing the hand apart before Leon pulled the axe free.
He didn’t stop there instead he twisted his body and swung again.
The Titan tried to pull away, but the axe had already crossed its chest.
A massive wound opened diagonally across its torso and blood sprayed from the exposed muscle as the Titan staggered several steps backward.
Karl’s Perception immediately updated.
[HP: 68%]
At last, something had done real damage, Leon jumped back and landed with the huge battle axe still in his hands.
He looked up at the Titan and grinned.
"Now fight, you midget."
The Titan went still and rhen it roared next the torn sections of its hand suddenly began moving.
Muscle pulled together as the split flesh rapidly regenerated, while the enormous wound across its chest started closing at the same time.
Then flames erupted from the Titan’s body, fire burst across its shoulders first before spreading down its arms, chest and legs.
Within moments, the enormous creature was completely covered in flames, heat rolling from it together with the steam already pouring from its flesh.
Leon stared at the burning Titan.
"You didn’t have to take it personally."
