Chapter 1861: Build A Team
Chapter 1861: Build A Team
The Elders brought over another group of Void and low Ascended Immortals.
"These will be the mining team. They’ve all got skills for mining, so they do it fast and have few problems finding the veins. Just keep the bosses off them and everything should go smoothly.
The patrol pattern is random, so don’t get too far from them unless you’ve got all three bosses engaged at the same time." The Elder reminded Karl and his team.
"Alright, let’s head straight for the dungeon then. We will have the miners wait by the entrance for a moment while my team spreads out and ensures that the area is clear.
We don’t want anyone getting caught in an area of effect skill.
After that, we should be good to go, and I will adjust the golems as needed to ensure their safety while we deal with the bosses and move them as far away from the mining operations as possible."
"Which one are you going to try to find first?" One of the miners asked.
"Doesn’t matter. We’ve been briefed on all of them. But ideally, the Tunnel Worm. With a large number of constructs, its giant body will be an advantage for us. It might be the most durable, but it’s likely to be the fastest to die."
The miners didn’t seem convinced, but the team led the way to the dungeon, and Karl led the way directly inside.
What he found was that the dungeon was dozens of kilometres underground, according to his senses, and the tunnels were over fifty metres tall and clearly not naturally formed.
They also didn’t appear to be made by the tunnel worm, as they had smooth, flat floors and textured walls.
So, this was likely an underground city, and the actual mines would start in front of them.
"Alright, this is the entrance. There are two ways into the mine, straight ahead and right. We usually start mining in the right tunnel, since there is a good chance for a Verite vein to spawn there.
If you can clear it in front of us, that would be perfect."
Karl nodded, and called out the beasts, then noticed that Thor was missing.
[Eggs are too close to hatching.]
[Got it buddy. We’re in a tunnel anyhow, likely not the best place for a behemoth.]
The miners looked confused, then Karl, Rae and Dana began to call out their Golems, as well as the [Army of the Dead] and the [Undead Minions] from both Karl and Rae.
"Miss Haint, will you take these to the right and clear the tunnel? Stop at the first intersection and wait for us to catch up."
The Haint nodded happily, and then skipped off hand in hand with the two Epic Guards.
"Your constructs are a bit odd."
Dana winked at the Elder. "That’s actually a Haint, a living weapon. Not a summoned construct. The Epic Guards are intelligent summons."
Karl and Remi called their bodyguards, and Karl gestured to the miners. "Remi, take the bodyguards and make sure that nothing sneaks up on the mining team. That will let the rest of us spread out without fear of ambush.
Dana and the majority of the team can join the Golems to control whatever we find on the right side.
I will go the other way with Rae."
The miners frowned. "You can’t just send two people to find and fight a boss."
"Oh, we’re not alone."
Karl activated [Guard Pets] and called the Diamondback Rock Spiders. Fifty stone skinned spiders with variations on their backs that looked like that of a rattlesnake appeared in the large chamber.
Each had to be over three hundred kilos, the size that Rae had been at Overlord Rank.
They had sharp legs similar to Rae’s they were venomous, and they could use webs to control enemy movement. That seemed perfect to Karl.
Plus, they were all Void Immortals. One on one against a peak Immortal boss, they were just squishy trash mobs. But fifty on one? That was a whole different story. Especially with Rae around.
"Holy shit. That’s nightmare fuel," the Yizimon Elder gasped.
"Right? The bosses are going to love it. Plus, they’re constructs, so I can just replace them when they get crushed. Now, I will take Rae, and you can go start mining. Don’t worry, we will keep the bosses off you.
My Guild members can call me back if you get tag teamed by two of the bosses, but I think that the two of us should be able to kite them to the back of the dungeon, well away from you.
So you’ll have plenty of time to mine."
The others nodded. Time was wasting, and even this starting area wasn’t off limits to the patrol routes, so the longer they stood here, the higher the chances they were caught in the open were.
The members of the Darklight Host and New Home Merchant Clan rushed down the tunnel to join the battle they could hear starting with the Golems, and Tian hopped up on Dana’s shoulder, so he didn’t have to run.
This place felt much more like home, being surrounded by nice safe stone, like a den.
He wouldn’t mind coming back to this dungeon.
Once everyone was out of sight, Karl activated his other new summoning spell.
Twenty thousand mana summoned four members of the [Army of Nature’s Vengeance], which Karl didn’t get an option on the appearance of.
Four Dryads appeared around him, looking very much like the Haint, mostly tree, but with the upper body of a female elf in the centre, as if the branches were her limbs and she was embedded into the trunk of a tree that extended well over her head, but radiating nature magic instead of soul magic.
They all had Epic Grade constitutions, and Karl smiled. This should work out very well for him.
So, he summoned another ten, pouring a fifth of his mana, a full fifty thousand, into the summoning.
"Ooh, it’s a party now," one of the dryads giggled.
"Indeed it is. We’re playing a game. I sent Oathbreaker and a bunch of golems the other way, to look for dungeon bosses. We want to find and eliminate one before the other team manages theirs."
The dryad smiled, and a vine whip shot out toward the tunnel.
"I can feel the life force from here. Whose team is the spider on?"
"She’s going to work on her own for the third boss. Can you tell her where it is?"
"Right at the back of the dungeon. Try to keep yourself moving in line with this direction, and you’ll find it."
Rae smiled, and raced off with the spiders chasing behind her.
