Chapter 2058: VIP Shopper

Dana considered the possibilities. "I think that we could actually do quite well if we made the Villa Stones more like that. But I would say that the usage case is much more niche here than it is on a Divine Battlefield world."

Sam nodded. "Yeah, there it’s a necessity. Here, it’s more of a crutch for those who like to get in fights, but who don’t have a Karl to back them up."

That definitely felt like a dig at Cara.

"Actually, why don’t we go to the arena and watch some fights from a private booth? That gives everyone something to do other than working in silence? We wouldn’t want our littlest one to get bored." Dana joked.

Skadi didn’t mind the teasing, and she also liked to watch the fighting in the arena.

The bunnies and the constructs were nice to her.

"I think that Oak is getting close to figuring it out. I saw her last night at the party, and she had a strange look, like she had just made a profound realization," Skadi announced as they began to walk.

"Well, if she did, I’m sure that she will come looking for us. That will also make the day fun, but she might be busy with Remi all day. She’s not a pill master like Andrea, but she is an Alchemist, and Remi has a new potion.

The dragon will want to learn it before anything else.

So, we should have at least half the day before she comes looking for me, if she really has figured out the game."

The Doppelgänger was actually identical to the green dragon in body, it was only the face that was different, and today even Sam’s hair matched Oak’s, and it was out in the open, with no hood.

Skadi suspected that Sam wasn’t even trying anymore and was just trolling the dragon.

That was a problem for later, though.

She took Dana and Sam by the hand, and then shifted them straight out of the Tiny World into the city, at the gates of the arena.

There was no official event going on right now, but it was open for challenges free of charge. You just had to sign up in case there was a queue. But the arena floor had been split into a half dozen different separate spaces so they could have multiple fights, and you could watch them all from a bird’s-eye view, or use viewing magic to get a better view.

Unless you wanted to pay the extra to buy or rent a viewing stone, that acted like a flying observer, allowing you to move your point of view freely around a chosen space in the arena.

It only worked in the arena, and it was expensive, but you could rent it for the day for ten gold coins, which was what everyone who didn’t live in the city did. Not the cheapest option, as much as a small group would spend on snacks.

But totally worth it for the view that it projected. ℴ

Those in the VIP booths had no such issues, as the spell was built into the booth so that they could watch in a dozen different ways, or even make their booth feel like it was inside the arena itself.

The demons at the doors patted Skadi on the head as she passed, dragging Dana and Sam toward the vendors.

"If we’re going to the booth, we need to try the new stuff. Look, they’ve got both the peach and the watermelon juices today. Oh, and there are deep-fried plantains with chocolate."

Dana laughed. "You just woke up, and that’s what you want for breakfast?"

"Oh, no. I will get a proper breakfast too, but these are too good to pass up. Hold that for me, will you?"

A few people gave them strange looks as the shopkeepers simply handed things to the little white haired girl with tiny antlers. But, she was a Darklight Host member, so they assumed that her family simply had a line of credit here.

She might not be with her parents, as one appeared to be a fox, and the other a transformed dragon, but most Clans kept some sort of credit system for the kids. It was safer than having them carry money everywhere before their System activated, and they could put it in their storage.

Then, they came across a stall selling breakfast burritos and bowls.

The bowls were potato and scrambled egg with a spicy tomato sauce and your choice of second protein. A simple staple that was a bit messier than most event food, but no worse than the breakfast burritos.

Too many people didn’t understand the concept of "Unwrap as you eat".

"What would you like this morning, Miss Skadi?" The bunny operating the shop asked.

She was an actual Divine Cook, one of many in the Darklight Host, and Dana was a bit startled to see one working in the arena selling breakfast foods. However, after a moment, it began to make sense.

What better way to show off their skills?

The bunnies were used to being looked down upon by everyone else, but the ones here were Immortals with valuable crafting skills of their own. They were eager to show the world that bunnies shouldn’t be underestimated, but never lost that innate urge to be helpful that had been selectively bred into them over tens of thousands of years.

So, she subtly flexed by running affordable food stalls in the Guild Arena, using Divine Cooking.

Dana noticed that there was a Naga Warrior in the back of the shop, which was a bit odd. It was clearly a construct linked to the arena, but she didn’t remember them putting any Naga into the spell, and bunnies were usually terrified of them.

He was stacking ingredient bins, and cleaning the floor, but there was a club hung at his waist.

So, he was security for the bunny.

An interesting choice for sure, and Dana wondered if the bunny had picked it herself or if the arena had randomly assigned her someone suitable to the role. There was a lot of random in the assignments, after all.

Even the food specials that the construct run shops ran had an element of random to them.

More curiosities for later, and Dana was beginning to understand why Sam and Oak always had that insatiable urge to find out new things. There were too many mysteries in the world, even when you understood the basics of how they happened.
