Chapter 2067: Nice Place Alchemist

The students that Cara had borrowed to go on an adventure all gasped in shock as the space transformed, and then rushed to explore the shop, marvelling at how the badger had managed to make an illusion into reality.

Then, they realized just how much more than a simple shop decoration had been done.

The alchemy shop itself appeared to fit in the floor space that was assigned to it, and nobody would get suspicious about it. However, the back door did not lead outside, but to a back storage room, far larger than the shop itself.

"Hey, come look at this. The back stairs are magic too," one of the girls called.

The staircase should have led up to the potioneer’s apartment above the shop, and it still did.

But the apartment was no longer the tiny bachelor suite that should have fit over the shop that they chose, it expanded into a luxury mansion inside once you opened the door, with six bedrooms, a fully equipped luxury kitchen, and a domestic helper.

Naturally, the helper was a golem, and this time, Opal had decided that it should be a pink haired Elven girl with small dragonfly wings on her back.

None of the girls knew what sort of Fae that was supposed to be, but she was adorable, and the wings worked, even though they should have been far too small to actually lift her off the ground.

With a buzz, the helper floated across the room to greet them, then curtsied politely.

"Welcome, are you moving in today?"

The girls all shook their heads. "No, this place will be for the Alchemists, I think? We were just with Cara when she came over to help make it."

The helper nodded, and waved her hand, bringing out a platter full of cookies.

"In that case, please sit and enjoy a snack before you explore the house. I’m sure that the new occupants won’t mind."

Now this was hospitality.

They had learned about the constructs from Cara, that they were magical, and part of the building itself, so they were always around places that the Darklight Host had upgraded, but you never knew what they were going to look or act like.

Still, their mothers had drilled manners into them, so they all finished their snacks and washed their hands before going to explore the rest of the house.

No getting sticky fingerprints everywhere.

But once their hands were clean again, they explored every nook and cranny of the house, comparing notes about all the coolest things that had been included with the building.

Becoming an Alchemist definitely had perks.

If they could get a job like this when they finished school, they were definitely going to live a good life. There was a clear master bedroom suite for the shop owner, but the other bedrooms almost looked like guest bedrooms in comparison, so they must be for the people who worked at the shop.

Getting a good job that included room and board meant that you could move out of your parent’s house and not go to the tiny new member apartments.

Of course, if you had the power to do this, even the new member apartments would be fine.

That made them wonder what the apartment assigned to Karl and Dana looked like. Surely, they hadn’t left it just as it was, but nobody really went there, as far as they knew. They had seen Elders go there to visit, but nobody else.

What they didn’t know was that even the Elders didn’t go there much anymore, since there was a portal between the two cities.

Instead, they came to the Guild House here.

However, it was still commonly used by Ophelia and Lotus to get some private time, or to go shopping in the New Home’s commercial area. The apartment was linked to the Tiny World, so they could come and go freely, which was great when one of you was completely spontaneous.

If Ophelia allowed Lotus to stay in the Tiny World all the time, they never got a moment alone before bedtime. The little one was too social, and there were too many distractions around.

It didn’t help that the bunnies agreed with her, and they would often be found napping together.

Eventually, Opal flew into the room. "Alright, Cara says that you have more adventuring to do. I need to go get the Alchemists and get the store inventory set up."

The girls nodded eagerly. There were places left to go, and they had ice cream.

Once they rushed out of the room, Opal sent the message to Remi that the shop was ready for stock, and the Naga brought ten of her alchemists over, along with the pair of Plague Lords, who had shrunk themselves to fit inside a standard height room.

"Oh, that’s a pretty handy skill. What’s it called?" Opal asked.

"It’s not a skill. It’s a shrinking potion. I keep them on hand so that people can’t run into buildings and hide. You wouldn’t believe how popular it is, even Oathbreaker keeps some of them on hand. I tried giving them to Carnage as well, but he got all upset and accused me of trying to make him puny and weak."

"Does the potion make you weaker?"

"The one I offered him does."

Opal giggled at the sly smile on the face of the Plague Lord, and decided that she would have to get Remi to include the shrinking potion in the regular stock of the shop. Partially so that adventurers could get into smaller spaces, and partially because it was just a fun potion to have on hand.

Remi was thinking the same thing, but from a more practical perspective.

Now that she knew the potion was an option, she needed to have it on hand in the shop, assuming that they had all the ingredients. That was why the shop needed such a large back room.

Spaces within the Guild Store storage were actually limited, though the inventory was huge.

But with over a hundred members crafting new items daily, they always had a lot stored. Even just stocking up for a larger than average Dark Elven trade convoy took up half of the store’s inventory space.

That was why larger Clans used warehouses, she assumed.

You could never get enough space for the stuff that ten thousand people needed.
