Chapter 158: Five Empresses Arrive

Katarina locked her amber gaze onto Rosalind’s golden slit pupils, her mouth curling into an arrogant smirk as she glanced sideways at the hulking tiger-kin beside her.

“Sure,” Katarina scoffed, patting Boran’s massive, corded shoulder with a heavy slap.

“I just hope your little miracle can survive a few stray swings from my dear Boran when the doors open.”

Her feral gaze drifted back to Azriel’s dark violet eyes, searching for a tremor of fear or hesitation.

Meeting her stare, Azriel offered a subtle, impeccably rehearsed submissive smile, a slight lowering of his chin and a gentle, obedient curve of his lips that perfectly mimicked a well-trained pet acknowledging an apex master.

Seeing the performance, Rosalind’s lips twitched upward into a razor-sharp smirk of sheer amusement.

She alone knew what that docile beast was capable of doing to highborn women once the bedroom doors sealed shut.

Across Azriel’s private interface, the stream erupted in chaotic delight:

[LIVE CHAT]

[Sadistic69] (Red): LMAO! Look at that fake little obedient smile! He’s playing the sweet little puppy while planning to mount every woman in this room!

[Nine_Tailed_Vixen] (Cyan): The acting! The absolute audacity! Rosalind’s smirk says it all, she knows that ‘submissive’ mouth was commanding her to beg on all fours just hours ago!

[God_Slayer_Klara] (Red): Tiger mommy thinks she has him figured out. Oh, Katarina, you poor, arrogant thing… you’re setting yourself up to be thoroughly broken.

[Moon_Priestess] (Cyan): A dragon pretending to be a koi fish. The contrast between his public deference and private brutality is pure art.

[Lusty_Sera] (Golden): Boran looks terrified just standing there, while Azriel is mentally measuring Katarina’s waistline. I need him to snap her pride next!

The conversation between the two Duchesses drew the attention of the surrounding elite.

Marchionesses, countesses, and high-ranking matriarchs began clustering closer, their jeweled silks rustling against the dark marble.

Among them approached the last of the three great Duchesses of the Sekhmet Empire, Duchess Sylphira of the Nivus Clan.

A chilling drop in temperature preceded her arrival.

Sylphira was a pureblooded snow leopard beastwoman, draped in pale frost-silks that clung to an impossibly slender, delicate frame.

Her skin was unblemished porcelain, framed by long, cascading snow-white hair, and her glacial blue eyes carried an aura of absolute detachment.

Despite holding ducal authority comparable to Rosalind, she looked barely older than an imperial academy youth, wrapped in an impenetrable wall of frigid disdain.

“Aunt Vesperia. Rosalind,” Sylphira greeted softly.

Her voice sounded like ice cracking over a winter lake.

Vesperia acknowledged with a tilt of her head.

The snow leopard duchess offered minimal court pleasantries, answering any probing inquiry from neighboring nobles with monosyllabic, icy detachment before stepping back to observe the floor in quiet vigilance.

Soon, the concourse swelled with sovereign delegations arriving from the other cornerstones of Gorgorath.

Formidable, scale crested matriarchs from the venomous Naga Empire glided past in shimmering gossamer, their reptilian eyes assessing the crowd.

Savage, war scarred warlord duchesses from the volcanic Karnvokh Dominion marched in heavy obsidian plate.

Duchesses from the subterranean Skraal Krag and the towering, tusklike armored matriarchs of the ZalTusk Empire gathered in competing circles of power.

It was simultaneously the most fortified haven and the most lethal powder keg on the entire continent, a concentration of raw, unyielding matriarchal supremacy where a single misstep could ignite a bloodline feud.

Suddenly, a profound, resonant chord echoed through the high-arched concourse.

Melodic, ancient strings blended with the deep, rumbling hum of horns, vibrating through the dragon-glass skylights.

The ambient chatter ceased entirely.

Every matriarch, duchess, and armored knight turned toward the northern dais, lowering their heads in practiced imperial etiquette.

The colossal gates of the high sanctuary parted.

An imperial envoy draped in radiant golden mantles stepped forth, holding a ceremonial scrying staff woven with prismatic light.

His voice rang out, loud, booming, yet carrying a magically serene cadence that blanketed the entire hall.

“Bow before the sovereigns of Gorgorath! The pillars of the five empires have arrived!”

The envoy struck his staff against the black granite, sending runic ripples across the floor as he announced the five supreme rulers of the continent one by one:

“Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mahesa Ro’Khan, Sovereign of the Sekhmet Empire!”

“Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Vraksha Az-Karn, Sovereign of the Karnvokh Empire!”

“Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Xylissia Nagaroth, Sovereign of the Naga Empire!”

“Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Vayra Krag-Zephyr, Sovereign of the Skraal Krag Empire!”

“Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Torag Zal’Makh, Sovereign of the ZalTusk Empire!”

Azriel stood half a pace behind Vesperia and Rosalind, his violet eyes widening slightly as the five supreme rulers stepped into the hall.

The procession was unlike anything this body or his past had ever witnessed.

Each Empress radiated a suffocating, peerless gravity that transcended mere Overlord status, their divine bloodlines manifesting as shimmering, physical halos of pure aether.

Draped in ceremonial regalia that blended ancient primal authority with imperial elegance, they walked side by side, five apex matriarchs holding the fate of millions in their hands.

The sheer majesty of the sight struck a visceral chord deep within Azriel’s soul, not with intimidation, but with the cold, surging thrill of an apex predator setting his sights on the highest thrones in existence.

The five Empresses moved in synchronized, majestic cadence across the grand terrace toward the Sovereign Thrones overlooking the arena sands.

At their center walked Empress Sekhmet herself, a peerless lioness monarch draped in flowing cloth-of-gold and blazing sun-runes, her golden mane cascading down her bare shoulders, amber eyes shining like twin stars holding the weight of an empire.

Flanking her were four apex rulers of equivalent majesty: Empress Vraksha Az-Karn, a towering horned matriarch of the Karnvokh whose broad, armored shoulders and sweeping obsidian horns commanded the raw momentum of the western steppes.

Empress Xylissia Nagaroth, the naga sovereign whose jewel-encrusted serpent coils glided effortlessly over the marble floor, her gossamer veil shifting over unearthly, venomous beauty.

Empress Vayra Krag-Zephyr, the avian monarch of Skraal Krag, whose razor-sharp plumage and raptor-taloned gauntlets radiated the icy, untamable pressure of the northern mountain winds.

And Empress Torag Zal’Makh of the ZalTusk, a massive, bear-kin matriarch clad in primeval dire-pelts, her scarred, brawny frame and thick fangs carrying the bloodline weight of the continent’s most savage pack berserkers.

Every matriarch, duchess, warlord, and noblewoman in the grand concourse bowed their heads deeply at the waist.

Beside him, Vesperia and Rosalind executed graceful, flawless court bows, their silver hair falling forward.

Even the boisterous, muscle bound Katarina fell still, clasping a fist over her leather clad chest in solemn deference.

Azriel inclined his head just enough to match the protocol of a bonded retinue, his posture loose yet controlled.

Through lowered dark lashes, his violet irises tracked the supreme sovereigns as they ascended the elevated dais.

The four visiting rulers glided toward the dais and took their places upon the towering, carved seats of state, each throne forged from the sacred materials of their home domains, obsidian and living magma for Karnvokh, coiled abyssal pearl for the Naga, petrified ironwood for Skraal Krag, and mammoth ivory for ZalTusk.

Yet at the dead center of the dais, flanked on both sides by the imperial rulers, sat an ornate, empty throne wrought of iridescent jade.

No one dared approach it, let alone sit upon it.

Standing tall before her golden seat, Mahesa Ro’Khan, as the Empress of the host empire, commanded the room.

She was a pure-blooded lion kin of peerless majesty.

Her skin carried a warm, sun-kissed, dusty golden hue, taut over a slender yet lethal frame cut with sleek, toned muscle.

Her fierce golden eyes glowed with solar brilliance, crowned by a thick, wild mane of golden-tawny hair that cascaded past her shoulders, twin lioness ears twitching atop her head with imperial authority.

Raising a single, ringed hand, her voice washed across the hushed gallery like rolling thunder.

“Rise,” she decreed, allowing the assembled matriarchs, duchesses, and scions to straighten

Her golden slit-pupils surveyed the grand concourse with commanding grace.

“Before we consecrate the tournament, we first pay homage to the guiding star of our continent’s youth,” Empress Mahesa began, gesturing smoothly toward the vacant celestial throne.

“Join me in welcoming the esteemed Senior Envoy of the Ancient Beast Academy, Grand Elder Maeve.”

A formal hush fell over the hall. Nobles held their breath, waiting for the celestial representative to make an entrance worthy of the empty jade throne.

One second passed.

Then three.

Then five.

No grand tear in the fabric of space appeared.

No herald chimed.

Total, dead silence hung in the air.

Empress Mahesa’s cheek twitched with a faint, barely perceptible spasm of aristocratic irritation, her regal hand lingering awkwardly mid-air as the seconds ticked by.

In the heavy, suffocating quiet, a soft, sleepy, utterly weary female voice drifted through the back of the gallery:

“…Mm, how do you smell so ridiculously good?”

The bizarre, breathless murmur cut through the royal protocol like a stray arrow.

Instantly, the gaze of every single Empress, matriarch, warlord, and attendant in the hall snapped in synchronized shock toward the source of the voice.

Every eye locked straight onto Azriel.
