Chapter 309: Chapter 309

The assistant had been personally trained by her agent, Sister Rose.

While Sister Rose wasn’t as famous as the celebrities themselves, when it came to connections, tactics, and overall capability, she was absolutely top-tier among the industry’s behind-the-scenes power players.

It was no exaggeration to say that with her abilities, connections, and the resources at her disposal, she could easily turn a complete nobody into a fairly big star.

And if any celebrity crossed her, even an A-lister, she could ensure that, at the very least, their reputation would be ruined. At worst, they’d be doomed beyond recovery, their careers and lives in shambles!

As the protégé Sister Rose had personally trained, the assistant’s overall capabilities were still a far cry from her mentor’s. However, over the past two or three years, she had managed to accumulate a fair number of her own connections and resources.

She wasn’t at the level where she could completely ruin a celebrity, but she could certainly stir up some trouble and make their life difficult.

Take Lin Jiji, for example.

Sister Rose was responsible for sixty percent of his current influence and fame. As for the remaining forty percent, while the assistant wouldn’t dare claim all of it, she was responsible for at least half.

She used to be in love with Lin Jiji. To get close to him and become his woman, she had leveraged nearly all the resources Sister Rose had given her.

Directed properly, these resources could make Lin Jiji even more famous. But if used with ill intent, they would be enough to take at least a layer of skin off him.

And now, the thought of getting revenge on Lin Jiji began to take root in the assistant’s mind.

In truth, she had been fed up with some of Lin Jiji’s behavior for a long time.

For instance, how he’d tell her he loved her while sleeping around with other women.

Or how he’d take it out on her, using her as his personal punching bag whenever he was angry about something that happened outside.

Every time these things happened, the assistant would be furious. But the love for Lin Jiji deep in her heart always made her suppress that anger, constantly finding ways to console herself.

She could suppress it once or twice. A third or fourth time, she could still find excuses to justify his behavior and keep her anger bottled up.

But after what had just happened, she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She wasn’t going to endure it anymore.

Lin Jiji had truly gone too far.

He claimed to love the assistant, yet after brutally beating and ravaging her, he turned around and groveled before Lin Xiaoyue like a dog.

All that bullshit about marriage and a grand wedding—it was nothing but an empty promise he’d dangled in front of her.

Back when the assistant loved him, she clung to the foolish hope that once Lin Jiji was done playing around, he would actually give her that grand wedding.

But now that she had calmed down and was thinking clearly, ’If you really love someone, would you resort to violence every time you were unhappy? Would you flirt with other women right in front of her, while treating her like a sex toy to be used at your whim?’

’More importantly, shouldn’t you show the person you truly love at least some basic respect?’

’But what about Lin Jiji?’

’He called her over when he needed her and kicked her away the moment he was done with her.’

’He never cared about her dignity, no matter the occasion.’

’Is this love?’

’No!’

The assistant realized he was treating her like a fucking chamber pot—used when needed, then kicked aside in disgust!

The moment she understood all this, her love for Lin Jiji instantly turned to hate!

Her hatred now ran as deep as her love once had.

She was going to get her revenge on Lin Jiji.

She would not only show Lin Jiji that she wasn’t some dog he could order around at will, but she would also take away his chance to ever grovel at Lin Xiaoyue’s feet again!

And this current situation with Chenyang was the perfect opportunity for revenge.

All of Chenyang’s so-called "crimes"—being ’greedy and lecherous,’ having ’no medical ethics’—were complete fabrications, made up by Lin Jiji out of thin air.

The online media frenzy and the public condemnation of Chenyang were all orchestrated by Lin Jiji, who was pulling the strings behind the scenes.

To put it bluntly, this was a scheme Lin Jiji had deliberately cooked up to get revenge on Chenyang for not saving him first.

There were two keys to unraveling this scheme.

One was Lin Xiaoyue. If she were to step forward and admit that Chenyang had saved her first, thereby offending Lin Jiji, half of the rumors online would instantly fall apart.

The other half wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny either.

The so-called photos and videos online were all fakes that Lin Jiji had instructed the assistant to pay people to produce. As for the patients and family members who came forward to accuse Chenyang of taking advantage of them or accepting bribes—they had all been bought off with money, on Lin Jiji’s orders.

In other words, if Lin Xiaoyue were to come forward, the entire scheme would immediately collapse.

However, the chances of her helping Chenyang were slim. The assistant had done her research on Lin Xiaoyue and knew she was the very definition of someone who thinks with her heart, not her head, when it comes to love.

Until she learned of Lin Jiji’s despicable actions, Lin Xiaoyue would absolutely, unconditionally believe him.

So, that key was not an option.

The other key was Lin Jiji himself.

If the evidence that Lin Jiji had fabricated facts and manipulated his fans into slandering Chenyang without cause were to be exposed, all the trouble surrounding Chenyang would vanish in an instant.

Going after Lin Jiji directly was arguably the easiest and most direct way to get her revenge...
