Chapter 434: Chapter 434

Yan Rongrong smiled as she hung up the phone, giving Chenyang an "OK" sign. She then briefly relayed what the media company’s owner had said.

After listening, Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "Daring to go head-to-head with Lin Jiji’s company and his backer? It seems this Fifth Brother of yours is no ordinary person."

Yan Rongrong pursed her red lips. "Fifth Brother’s father used to be a leader in the Provincial Writers’ Association. In his early years, he was a director and a producer. His mother is the daughter of a big shot in Kyoto from a politically powerful family. Although his family never supported his second-rate media company and he never asked for their help, his parents had actually already put in a good word for him with people in the industry."

"Let’s put it this way: if he doesn’t cause trouble, he’s just a small fry in the media and entertainment world. But if he *wants* to cause trouble, even if he burned the whole entertainment industry to the ground, someone would be there to clean up his mess!"

"Hiss..." Chenyang couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. "As expected. Anyone who can be friends with you is no ordinary person."

"Are you complimenting yourself with that?"

"Me? ...Maybe I’m the only ordinary one?"

"You’re not ordinary either, you know." Yan Rongrong gave him a playful look and said in a voice only they could hear, "Setting aside your medical skills and kung fu, that thing in your pants is way more impressive than most men’s."

Chenyang grinned. "Didn’t you say I couldn’t perform?"

"I said your *stamina* was lacking. After all, you were holding your back just from taking care of the three of us sisters. I never said your *equipment* was no good."

"You..."

Chenyang pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation. ’Taking on three at once? Anyone would be holding their back after that!’

But he didn’t continue arguing with Yan Rongrong, getting back to the topic at hand. "Have you notified our ally?"

"I’ve texted her. She’ll be making her move soon."

The ally they were talking about was, of course, Liu Yue.

Originally, Chenyang had wanted Liu Yue to come forward and expose Lin Jiji directly. After all, to take down someone like Lin Jiji, there was no more direct method than having his own assistant turn against him.

But Liu Yue had said during their negotiations that she didn’t want to be exposed, to avoid retaliation later. Besides, she and Chenyang had slept together. Even though there were no feelings between them, Chenyang didn’t want to be the kind of guy who just screws and bolts, so he decided to let her have her way.

Doing it this way would make the process a bit more complicated, but it wouldn’t affect the final outcome.

"Are you two done whispering over there?"

Lin Jiji’s voice interrupted Chenyang and Yan Rongrong’s conversation. When they looked up, they saw him sneering. "The facts are right in front of you. Even if you manage to cook up some other dirty trick, you can’t change anything."

Chenyang retorted sarcastically, "I should be the one saying that to you."

"Heh, I always act with integrity. I never resort to dirty tricks." Lin Jiji’s lips curved into a smirk. Feeling emboldened by his fans’ support, he paused briefly before turning his head. "Xiaoyue, you saw them whispering and plotting together. That alone should be enough to tell who’s right and who’s wrong, shouldn’t it?"

Lin Xiaoyue said coldly, "People who believe they’ve done nothing wrong can face anything openly. Only those with a guilty conscience resort to secret schemes they don’t want others to know about."

"Exactly. I’ve been open and aboveboard from the very beginning." Lin Jiji grinned. "As for those exposés online, only one thing is actually true, and it wasn’t illegal, nor did it betray my feelings for you. Of course, lying to you is still lying, and I’ll give you a proper explanation for that later. At the same time, I hope you can give me another chance."

Lin Xiaoyue’s expression shifted slightly. "Let’s talk about it after this is over."

In the last few minutes, her opinion of Lin Jiji had changed somewhat.

But to say she could ever have good feelings for him again was probably impossible.

Because after reading about everything online, all she felt was anger. No regret, and certainly no sadness.

This was her first relationship, but she knew that if you discovered someone you truly liked had done bad things and deceived you, you were supposed to feel sad.

But she didn’t!

’When she truly looked deep inside herself, she had a belated realization. Perhaps what she’d felt for Lin Jiji before wasn’t love at all, but... the thrill of trying out a relationship for the first time?’
