Chapter 439: Chapter 439

After hearing what the three officials said, the beautiful reporter, Yao Yadi, and several other officials beside her couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Chenyang, however, wore a playful smile. "You officials should be careful what you say. Superstar Lin is still here, you know. Watch out, or he might rally his fans to come after you!"

Lin Yongkun scoffed. "If this were two or three minutes ago, we really wouldn’t have dared to say that. But now? Forget making snide remarks about Lin Jiji. Even if we walked up and kicked him a few times, his fans wouldn’t say a thing. In fact, they might even join us in slapping him across the face."

"That’s right. And you can’t blame us. We were just so disgusted by how cocky that guy has been. If we don’t get a few jabs in, I’m honestly worried I’ll lose my appetite for lunch."

Zhang Hongtu said with a laugh, then waved his hand. "But let’s leave it at that. We are representing the Yangcheng Government right now, after all. We can’t become a laughingstock for the public and our friends in the media."

"Don’t worry, say what you will. Our cameras are only on Lin Jiji." Yao Yadi smiled, pressing her lips together. It was clear she, too, had been putting up with Lin Jiji for a long time.

The other reporters from the official media outlets just looked at each other and smiled.

Although the official powers backing them were far stronger than these Yang City leaders, when it came down to it, most of them were part of the same system as Zhang Hongtu and the others.

To put it bluntly, since they all had "iron rice bowls"—secure government jobs—they were all insiders. And insiders, naturally, don’t screw each other over.

As for an outsider like Lin Jiji, he would inevitably face their collective rejection now!

As the old saying goes: when a tree falls, the monkeys scatter.

With Lin Jiji’s downfall, the situation at the scene instantly became completely one-sided.

The fans who had once defended and supported him, now filled with anger, turned on him with disgust and curses.

As for the onlookers who were just there for the show, they now treated him as a punching bag, endlessly spewing all sorts of ugly insults. They grabbed whatever they could find nearby and hurled it all at Lin Jiji.

He was lucky this wasn’t a vegetable market; otherwise, in these past few minutes, Lin Jiji would have already been pelted with rotten leaves and spoiled eggs.

The sight made Lin Jiji’s face turn deathly pale.

He was completely bewildered.

He had never imagined things would escalate to this point.

In his eyes, Chenyang was just a so-called doctor who didn’t even have a medical license.

What’s more, he had specifically investigated Chenyang’s background. Forget a powerful backer—the man didn’t even have parents!

All he had was a grandfather in the countryside, and he had been expelled from medical school before he could even graduate.

In the past, a nobody like this was someone Lin Jiji would have treated like an ant.

But now, this ant had reduced him to such a pathetic state!

’How could anyone believe this?’

Of course, no matter how much he refused to believe it, it was now a reality.

So, beyond his shock, he was filled with regret.

’He was furious with himself for making such a huge deal over a minor incident at the car crash. He deeply regretted orchestrating this whole fiasco.’

’But there was no cure for regret in this world, no pause or restart button.’

’The most urgent thing now was to figure out how to overcome this hurdle.’

Lin Jiji, slumped on the ground, tried to calm down and think of a plan.

He also wanted to contact Sister Rose and his agency as quickly as possible so they could help him figure something out.

But a constant barrage of pebbles, smelly socks, and other objects was being thrown at him from the crowd.

The reporters’ cameras were practically shoved in his face, and their microphones were nearly stuffed into his mouth.

Coupled with the ceaseless waves of angry shouts, it was impossible for him to calm down, let alone find a moment to pull out his phone and call for help.

Seeing Lin Jiji in such a miserable state—unable to live and unwilling to die—left Chenyang, Yan Rongrong, and the others feeling immensely satisfied.

"We finally took care of that bastard."

"If that son of a bitch had kept showing off, I don’t think I could’ve stopped myself from slapping him."

"Seeing him like this now, isn’t this even more satisfying than just slapping him a couple of times?"

After listening to An Xiaoqing, Chenyang nodded. "It is satisfying, but... not satisfying enough."

"What do you mean?"

"This isn’t over yet. He still hasn’t paid the full price."

The corners of Chenyang’s mouth curled up. He turned to the official media reporters and said, "Everyone, I have an even more explosive story about Lin Jiji. I wonder, would any of you be interested in hearing it?!"
