Chapter 446: Chapter 446

If it were entertainment reporters offering a million for the secrets in his possession, Chenyang would have agreed instantly without a second thought.

Because neither the scandalous news about Lin Jiji and the boss lady of his parent company, nor the information about Lin Jiji’s major legal violation, would fetch a price anywhere near a million on the open market.

To put it bluntly, a million was more than enough for both pieces of information. If someone offered a million for just one, it would be like getting free money for Chenyang.

More importantly, selling to these reporters meant he wouldn’t have to assume any risk. After all, once the reporters had the story, they would protect his identity to ensure they kept their exclusive.

If his identity wasn’t leaked, it meant he wouldn’t face retaliation from anyone.

But selling to Sister Rose was a different story.

Sister Rose and the boss lady of the parent company were on the same side.

She might be willing to sacrifice Lin Jiji for the sake of profit, but she would never turn a blind eye to matters concerning her boss lady.

Once Chenyang sold the information to her, she could tell the boss lady his identity, and that boss lady, in a fit of rage, would very likely send people to get revenge on him.

In other words, while a million per secret was a high price, the risk Chenyang would have to assume by selling to Sister Rose was several, or even dozens, of times greater than selling to entertainment reporters.

Chenyang was no fool.

Even if he was willing to take a risk to make money, the reward had to outweigh that risk.

Chenyang had no intention of hiding these thoughts. He knew Sister Rose was no ordinary person, so beating around the bush was pointless. He boldly admitted that he felt the money wasn’t enough.

After he finished, Sister Rose smiled. "I understand your concerns, but one million is definitely a high enough price.

An ordinary doctor like you, no matter how skilled, would need several years to earn this much money.

And the two secrets you possess can be sold for a total of two million. An ordinary person might not earn that much in their entire lifetime.

That amount should be more than enough to cover the risk you’d be taking."

Chenyang shook his head. "Maybe that’s enough for someone else. They could take the two million, leave this place, and start over in a city where you’d never find them.

But I’m different. I’m not leaving. That means as long as your boss lady wants revenge, she can find me whenever and wherever she pleases. So for me, two million isn’t enough!"

"The reason you feel it isn’t enough isn’t really because the amount is too small. It’s because you think my boss lady will retaliate, and you could end up losing both your life and the money.

If the amount is too small, it feels unbalanced. If it’s larger, you’ll at least have an extra layer of security when facing greater hardship and danger."

As she spoke, a smile touched Sister Rose’s red lips. "I’m not wrong about that, am I?"

Chenyang shrugged, offering no denial.

Sister Rose gave him a meaningful smile. "Actually, aside from making a deal with you, I have other ways to get that information. And those methods are cheaper and easier than going through you!"

"Oh?"

Seeing the faint smile playing on Chenyang’s lips, Sister Rose shot back, "What? You don’t believe me?"

"It’s not that I don’t believe you—after all, you’re no ordinary woman. I just can’t figure out why, if you have a cheaper and easier way, you’d waste your time and money coming to me."

"Two reasons. First, I’m not afraid of trouble, but I don’t like it. Coming to you directly might cost more time and money, but it doesn’t require much thought.

Spending a bit of money and a few words to buy what I want from you is far better than bypassing you to deal with one or more other people."

At this, Chenyang suddenly laughed. "Are you sure negotiating with me doesn’t require any thought?"

Sister Rose shrugged. "I originally thought it wouldn’t, but it looks like it does. Still, less than it would take with other people."

"May I ask who these ’other people’ you’re referring to are?"

"Shouldn’t you be more curious about my other reason for dealing with you directly, rather than that question?"

Chenyang laughed. "You’ll definitely tell me the other reason, but you won’t necessarily tell me who the other people are."

"Ha, ha." Sister Rose laughed, then fixed her gaze on Chenyang. "You know, I think I’m starting to like you."
