Chapter 105: Chapter 84: Enhanced Vision, Bullet Time

So much so that the spider leg she was about to strike Lu Chen with paused mid-air, forgotten. Wait, how could she have forgotten that this kid had secretly learned her Leg Technique earlier?

It was true that his weapon was shattered, but he could use his legs in place of a sword!

After a brief moment of panic, however, the White-faced Spider quickly calmed down. "So what if you can use your leg as a sword? I don’t believe your flesh and blood can compare to my special Leg Blades, which rival Magical Artifacts!" she thought.

"Die!"

The White-faced Spider roared as her six white jade-colored Leg Blades viciously thrust toward Lu Chen.

In response, Lu Chen seemed to freeze, remaining motionless where he stood. This led the White-faced Spider to mistakenly believe that he had given up resisting, and a flash of joy appeared in her eyes.

But had Lu Chen truly given up? No. He was merely waiting for the perfect moment to strike. After all, the series of intense battles had consumed no small amount of his Spiritual Power. Therefore, if he couldn’t finish off the White-faced Spider in one swift strike, he would truly be in danger.

Watching the incoming Leg Blades, Lu Chen’s pupils suddenly gleamed.

"Cyan Lotus Eye - Strong Vision... activate!"

As Lu Chen channeled the Power of Green Lotus into the Strong Vision Pupil Skill, a wisp of cyan smoke drifted from the corners of his eyes, making it look as though two clusters of cyan flames were burning within them.

The next second, the Jade-faced Spider’s attacks appeared to move in slow motion before his eyes.

Bullet time. This was the Effect of the Power of Green Lotus enhancing his foundational vision. Fundamentally, this so-called bullet time was a special visual phenomenon created because Lu Chen’s current dynamic visual processing surpassed the Jade-faced Spider’s attack speed.

Relying on this, Lu Chen gained ample time to formulate a countermeasure. A moment later, having fully simulated his attack pattern in his mind, he finally moved.

WHOOSH!

As a layer of purple flames suddenly engulfed his right leg, his figure vanished from the spot, leaving behind nothing but an afterimage. Immediately after, he darted and dodged through the Jade-faced Spider’s frenzied barrage of attacks.

The White-faced Spider’s Leg Blades, capable of effortlessly slicing through steel, couldn’t even graze him now. He perfectly evaded every single strike by a hair’s breadth.

Moreover, accompanied by six crisp kicking sounds...

The Jade-faced Spider watched in horror as her six Leg Blades were instantly shattered by Lu Chen’s kicks!

"H-How is this possible?!" she thought in disbelief.

While the White-faced Spider was reeling in shock from Lu Chen’s astonishing display, a figure had already materialized right above her head, using his leg as a sword!

BOOM!

Lu Chen’s kick landed squarely on the Jade-faced Spider’s head, instantly generating a terrifying shockwave. The sheer force sent the Jade-faced Spider flying backward. Her body tumbled across the ground several times before slamming violently into the wall behind her.

BANG!

The Jade-faced Spider’s body smashed a massive crater into the wall, a dense spiderweb of cracks spreading out around the impact zone. The impact was so immense that it shook the entire second-floor hall.

It took a moment for everything to settle back into stillness.

[You have killed a Nine Nether White-faced Spider (Foundation Establishment Third Level). You gained 1,600 Experience Points, Soul Crystal Fragment (Green) *1...]

[Current Experience Points: 18,000]

Landing on the ground, Lu Chen didn’t spare a glance at the interface prompts popping up before him. Instead, he looked down at his right leg in slight surprise, seemingly not having expected his kick to possess such devastating power.

However, it only took him a brief moment of thought to realize the reason. Since entering the examination venue, he had been relying on an ordinary Magic Sword. But a Magic Sword of that Quality simply wasn’t enough to withstand too much of the Vibration Power from his Water Dragon Roar. As a result, whenever Lu Chen used the Water Dragon Roar, he had to deliberately suppress the might of his Swordsmanship to prevent the Magic Sword from breaking prematurely.

Just now, however, when he substituted his leg for a sword, he had instinctively unleashed his Divine Techniques to the maximum limit his body could endure.

Although his physical body wasn’t actually as durable as a Magic Sword, the flexibility of the human body meant that executing the Water Dragon Roar with his leg generated an instantaneous burst of power far greater than using a Magic Sword. Not to mention, he had subconsciously integrated the Purple Mist Divine Fire into the attack during the process.

That was what led to the staggering feat of kicking the White-faced Spider to death in a single strike.

At this thought, Lu Chen suddenly realized an issue he had never paid attention to before. His understanding of his own body... seemed to be far from sufficient. After all, prior to today, it had never crossed his mind to abandon his weapon and solely rely on his body to unleash the Water Dragon Roar and the Purple Mist Divine Fire.

As he pondered, Lu Chen felt a myriad of thoughts flooding his mind. He ended up standing there deep in thought, slipping into a profoundly mysterious state.

It was a state frequently mentioned by Cultivators—an epiphany.

Three minutes later.

Lu Chen, having gained a brand-new comprehension of the Sword Dao, finally roused from that unique state of epiphany.

He glanced at the nearby corpse of the Jade-faced Spider and sighed, "It seems I really fell into a cognitive trap before. I only considered myself a pure Sword Cultivator, completely forgetting the existence of other Techniques like Leg Techniques or Fist Techniques...

"No wonder people always say that to practice the sword, one must first practice the fist, and to practice the fist, one must first practice the mind.

"If you don’t even understand your own body and mind, how can you expect to understand external objects like Spirit Swords?"

[Due to your new understanding of Sword Skills, the Skill Proficiency of ’Dragon Roar Heaven-Breaking Strike’ has increased...]

[Dragon Roar Heaven-Breaking Strike: Breaking Realm 10000/30000]

[Current Experience Points: 18,000]

The 18,000 Experience Points were the reward he earned for killing the White-faced Spider and clearing out her nest. Coupled with the 10,000 Skill Experience Points added to his Dragon Roar Heaven-Breaking Strike from his epiphany, he now only needed to acquire another 3,000 Experience Points to obtain his first Dao Entry Level Skill.

Lu Chen was filled with anticipation.

Because this goal... was finally within his grasp.

...
