Chapter 121: Chapter 90: Daoist School Selection, Don’t Initiate, Don’t Explain, Don’t Refuse!

"Both of you performed very well this time, especially you, Lu Tongxue. You’ve given us Teachers a massive surprise!"

Hearing Chen Fugui’s words, Lu Chen remained noncommittal and nodded calmly. It wasn’t that he liked to stay silent and act like a master. Rather, there was truly nothing to say. After all, he couldn’t exactly tell Chen Fugui that the reason he was able to cultivate Sword Intent at the Qi Cultivation Stage was entirely because he played a game, right? Besides, how could something like Comprehension even be explained?

Looking at the aloof Lu Chen, Chen Fugui didn’t feel that he was being overly arrogant; instead, he found it completely reasonable. After all, if you could comprehend Sword Intent during the Qi Cultivation Stage and dare to attack someone at the Golden Core Stage while still in the Qi Cultivation Stage... you’d be arrogant too! Moreover, Chen Fugui felt that Lu Chen’s current achievements were precisely due to his unyielding, unparalleled pride that reigned supreme over heaven and earth. Without this innate pride, what would he have relied on to strike at the Black Rock King, an expert at the Golden Core Stage? Furthermore, if young people weren’t vigorous and full of spirit, could they even be called young!

However, Chen Fugui hadn’t called the two of them over to discuss Lu Chen’s personality, but to talk about their future plans.

"How much do you know about the Four Great Dao Schools? Do you have a preferred Daoist School?"

Hearing Chen Fugui’s words, Lu Chen and Mu Xiaoye exchanged a glance. Then, Lu Chen spoke up, "We don’t know much, actually. We would appreciate it if you two Teachers could enlighten us."

Chen Fugui nodded and then explained the detailed information about the Four Great Dao Schools within the Immortal Alliance. As for the Daoist Schools outside of the Four Great Dao Schools, there was no need to mention them, because it was impossible for Lu Chen or Mu Xiaoye to attend them. Through Chen Fugui’s explanation, Lu Chen quickly learned the Features of each of the Four Great Dao Schools.

The predecessors of the Four Great Dao Schools of the Immortal Alliance were Mortal World dojos pioneered by four Immortal League Sacred Lands within their respective territories. Doing so served multiple purposes: firstly, it expanded the Mortal World influence of the Four Great Holy Lands within their respective spheres of influence; secondly, it helped the Sects select talents. It was a multi-faceted win.

Developing up to the present, the Four Great Dao Schools had become the primary places for the Major Sects of the Immortal Alliance to recruit disciples. Many second-rate Sects, in order to recruit promising disciples, would specifically dispatch some Guardian Elders from their Sects to serve as instructors in the Four Great Dao Schools. This was done in exchange for the opportunity to select disciples from within the Four Great Dao Schools.

The Four Great Dao Schools didn’t object to this practice at all; on the contrary, they were more than happy to see it happen. Because this would imperceptibly deepen the connections between the other Sects and the major Holy Lands, and further strengthen the influence of the Four Great Holy Lands across the Nine Provinces.

Based on this point, the Features of the Four Great Dao Schools could be easily summarized:

The Qinghe Daoist School was located in the east of the Nine Provinces. The Holy Land Sect behind it was the Shangqing Daoist Palace, which specialized in Wood Technique and Sword Skill.

The Li Huo Daoist School was located in the south of the Nine Provinces. The Holy Land Sect behind it was the Ten Thousand Professions Immortal Sect, which specialized in Fire Technique and Alchemy Skill.

The Barbaric Daoist School was located in the west of the Nine Provinces. The Holy Land Sect behind it was the Nine Luminaries Celestial Capital, which specialized in Gold Technique and Body Skill.

The Profound Water Daoist School was located in the north of the Nine Provinces. The Holy Land Sect behind it was the Vast Sea Profound Sect, which specialized in Water Technique, Earth Technique, Talisman, and Divination.

Although the Four Great Dao Schools each had their unique Features, it didn’t mean that once you were admitted to a certain Daoist School, you could only cultivate in the areas they excelled at. One had to understand that these so-called specialties merely meant that these Daoist Schools were the best at teaching knowledge in those specific areas; it did not mean they only possessed knowledge in those fields.

Take Bai Ling, for example, who studied at the Qinghe Daoist School. She was a standard Body Cultivator, yet the place she studied wasn’t the Barbaric Daoist School, which specialized in Body Skill, but rather the Qinghe Daoist School. Did this have any impact on her? To be honest, it did, but not a major one. There were also great Body Cultivators present within the Qinghe Daoist School. Although their instruction in Body Skill wasn’t as top-tier as the Body Cultivators in the Barbaric Daoist School, it was more than enough to guide her through all her Cultivation prior to the Golden Core Stage.

As for Cultivation after reaching the Golden Core Stage, it mattered even less. Because once Cultivators reached this Realm, all Cultivation depended solely on the Cultivators themselves. External forces could rarely provide much assistance.

Therefore, in a sense, although the Four Great Dao Schools had their respective strengths and weaknesses, the gap between them was not significant. If the specific areas each Daoist School was best at were rated a perfect 100 points, then they could still achieve around 90 points in the areas they weren’t as proficient in. The difference compared to the other three Daoist Schools would be within a mere 10 points.

Thus, regardless of what a student excelled at, theoretically, as long as they entered any of the Four Great Dao Schools, they would receive top-tier training. After all, the Four Great Dao Schools pooled the resources of the top Major Sects of the entire Immortal Alliance, as well as those of countless Cultivation Clans. Even in Domains they didn’t excel in, they still overwhelmingly crushed any Daoist School outside of the Four Great Dao Schools by a massive margin.

Hence, a saying had always circulated within the Immortal Alliance: there were only two types of young Cultivators in the Immortal Alliance—those from the Four Great Dao Schools, and those rejected by the Four Great Dao Schools.

For the vast majority of students within the Immortal Alliance, whether or not they could be admitted into the Four Great Dao Schools was not just a reflection of their abilities, but something that directly dictated their future. However, nothing was absolute. In the long history of the Immortal Alliance, there were still some students outside of the Four Great Dao Schools who had achieved accomplishments that even the Four Great Dao Schools found remarkable. It was just that such examples were few and far between.

From an objective standpoint, the Daoist School most suitable for Lu Chen was undoubtedly the Qinghe Daoist School, which specialized in Sword Skill.
