Chapter 149: Chapter 100: Black Lotus Descends, Demon Fiends Attack the City
Faced with these terrifying monsters, the thousands of people in the hospital immediately fell into chaos.
Some screamed, some fled for their lives, and some picked up weapons in a futile attempt to fight back.
No matter what they did, it couldn’t change the outcome in the slightest.
Before long, the massive hospital fell into a dead silence, save for the RUSTLE RUSTLE of centipedes crawling everywhere.
In a corridor on the third floor of the hospital.
"D-don’t come any closer..."
A pretty nurse with trembling hands wielded a fruit knife she had acquired from who-knows-where, waving it wildly at Dr. Chen, who wore a strange, eerie smile. She desperately tried to keep him at bay.
She had seen with her own eyes how this Dr. Chen had crushed people to death with a mere wave of his hand.
Faced with her extreme reaction, Dr. Chen—or rather, the Thousand Poison Taoist, Wu You—just smiled and stepped forward.
"Stay away!!!"
The nurse instinctively thrust the blade at the approaching Wu You.
The sharp fruit knife instantly pierced his unguarded body.
The next sight, however, plunged her into absolute despair.
Not a single drop of blood flowed from the wound where Wu You had been stabbed.
That was because his body... was made entirely of centipedes!
Through the gaping wound, the nurse could clearly see a massive swarm of finger-length centipedes writhing and intertwining, forming the entirety of Wu You’s physical form.
Some of the centipedes even began to slowly crawl out along the blade of her fruit knife.
At the sight, the nurse collapsed to the ground in sheer terror. Dropping the knife, she burst into loud sobs.
Seeing this, Wu You immediately pressed an index finger against his lips.
"Shh, shh. Don’t cry, don’t cry..."
Whether it was because his words actually worked, or simply out of sheer terror of defying his orders, the nurse didn’t dare to shed another tear.
Wu You smiled and crouched down, plucking a smartphone from her breast pocket. He proficiently dialed a certain number.
Before long, the call connected.
"Who is this..."
Hearing Yu Tianqi’s voice from the other end of the line, Wu You smiled. "Hello there, Lord Tianqi."
"Who are you?"
Realizing Yu Tianqi hadn’t caught on yet, Wu You gave his own head a belated smack.
The flesh around his throat wriggled for a moment, and his voice instantly changed.
"Can you tell who I am now?"
"..."
There was a brief silence on the other end before a cold, murderous voice replied.
"Thousand Poisons. Where did you get my number?"
Wu You chuckled dismissively and joked, "That’s because I’ve always been keeping an eye on you, Lord Tianqi! After all, I still vividly remember your heroic feat of fighting three Protectors of my religion all by yourself. I..."
"Cut the crap. Spit it out, what do you want?"
Wu You held the phone closer to the nurse and smiled. "Come on, say hello to our Lord Tianqi."
The terrified nurse was far too traumatized to speak.
She stared at Wu You in horror, her mind entirely blank as tears streamed down her face.
"Oh dear, I told you not to cry. You should know that the person on the other end of this call is a Golden Core Stage Cultivator. If you cry for help now, he might just rush over right this instant to save you."
Hearing this, the nurse clung to his words like a drowning woman clutching at a lifeline. She desperately grabbed the phone and stammered, "S-save me..."
"Thousand Poisons, what the hell are you trying to do?!"
Seeing that Yu Tianqi was thoroughly enraged, Wu You nodded in satisfaction.
He pulled his hand back, completely ignoring the desperate nurse on the floor. Walking to the railing of the third-floor corridor, he pointed the phone’s receiver toward the hospital lobby below.
The lobby was currently packed to the brim with people.
They stared in terror at the grotesque centipedes surrounding them, completely at a loss for what to do.
Screams, sobs, and frantic shouts...
All these sounds were transmitted through the phone to Yu Tianqi, wherever he was.
Seeing that the setup was just right, Wu You brought the phone back to his face and smiled. "Lord Tianqi, I’m currently at the public hospital in the West City District. Let me just see how many living people are left here."
Wu You closed his eyes for a moment before speaking again. "Nine hundred and eighty-two. There are currently nine hundred and eighty-two living people left in the hospital.
"Starting right now, Lord Tianqi, for every second you’re late, I’ll kill one person."
"Thousand Poisons!!!"
"The countdown begins. One..."
"AHHH!!!"
The very instant Wu You spoke, countless centipedes swarmed out from the cabinets behind him, the ceiling, and the cracks in the floor, engulfing the unfortunate nurse in a single wave.
"Two..."
Every time Wu You read out a number, a bloodcurdling scream would echo through the hospital.
Whatever Yu Tianqi was doing on the other end of the line, the audio had been replaced by the roaring sound of wind tearing through the air.
"Ten..."
When he reached the number ten, a deafening crash suddenly erupted outside the outpatient building.
Wu You smiled and looked in the direction of the noise. His centipede-composed body instantly melted down, breaking apart into countless individual bugs.
By the time his body reformed, he was already standing in the open space outside the outpatient building.
Staring at the Thousand Poison Taoist who had just appeared before him, Yu Tianqi practically radiated a sky-high murderous intent.
"Thousand Poisons, I’m going to shatter your bones to pieces, little by little. Then, I’ll use these damned centipedes of yours as a snack to go with my liquor.
"Rest assured, I won’t let you die too easily. I’m going to make you pay the ultimate price for everything you’ve done."
In response, Wu You showed absolutely no fear. Instead, he maintained that highly punchable expression.
He looked at Yu Tianqi and asked mockingly, "Is that a promise, Lord Tianqi?"
