Chapter 1241: Chapter 840: Calamity of the Forest (Part 2)

"Elder... My blindness... destroyed our home... but I am willing to perish together with it!"

He wanted these people to retreat, while he resisted with those willing to stay.

Consider it redemption for his arrogance.

Just as the elf defense was about to completely collapse, urgent and heavy hoofbeats sounded from the forest.

Two well-equipped squads, like two sharp arrows, suddenly tore through the outer crystal-legged insect swarm and charged into the battlefield.

They wore the emblematic armor of the Night Watchers, riding specially bred and magically enhanced land birds, moving swiftly and efficiently.

Their running could crush the nearest row of Void Creatures into dust.

"The Night Patrol is here! Establish nodes! Sweep the Abyss!" the leader, a human-clad captain, ordered sharply.

The two Night Patrol squads demonstrated formidable combat skills.

One squad, with Shield Warriors as the vanguard, blocked impacts while Elf Rangers in the rear precisely targeted the shriekers with "Demon-breaking Arrows."

The other squad was led by Human Mages, constructing a flickering energy barrier that temporarily blocked the void purple light, buying elves a respite.

The sharp calls and charges of land birds instantly disrupted the swarm’s formation.

At last, a force was infused into the desperate battlefield.

"Reinforcements! The Night Watchers are here!" Elian’s spirit lifted, his weary body seemingly gathering a bit of strength.

Though there were not many who came, just two teams.

Nevertheless, the strength of the Night Watchers was indisputable, providing a psychological balm.

At the very least, it could allow the elves, now nearing collapse, to regain some confidence, extending resistance against the Void for a while.

However, the deadly Void Rift abruptly trembled, expanding to its extreme as if it were a living entity.

The edges of the rift transformed from chaotic to smooth and solid, rotating rapidly inward to form an unfathomable dark hole.

The rift solidified.

No more low-level creatures emerged, a terrifying pressure born purely for destruction crushed the scene as if tangible.

Alarm bells rang in everyone’s hearts.

A shadow appeared without warning from the stabilized "gate."

It was not a giant beast but rather a slender, eerie figure with a humanoid silhouette.

Its limbs seemed composed of pure spatial shadow, edges indistinct, moving silently, leaving an elusive afterimage on the retina as it shifted.

"Level Eleven, Legendary!"

The captain immediately recognized it and shouted loudly to alert everyone present.

The newly arrived Night Watchers felt their hearts sink.

The rift... how did it produce a Legend?

They were not equipped to withstand it; this was not a Soul Guardian Squad, incapable of resisting the Void Legend’s power.

But there was no retreat now.

This Level Eleven Void Legend creature—Scythe of Shade—was the embodiment of death.

It did not even offer the Night Watchers time to assume defensive postures.

Silence, slaughter, destruction.

It nonchalantly waved a blurred "arm" towards the Night Patrol squad that was first to respond.

Soundless, yet several barely perceptible black space rifts flashed by.

The next second, a terrifying scene unfolded.

The chest of the human Shield Warrior at the Night Patrol squad’s front row suddenly developed a bowl-sized, mirror-smooth hole, penetrating through his back.

His health bar vanished instantly, cleared in one move.

Before shock could register on his face, his body was filled with purple cracks like shattered glass and fell to the ground.

Almost simultaneously, the throat of the team’s Elf Mage cracked open awkwardly, extinguishing life instantly.

The half-elf Thief preparing to throw a flying knife felt a chill at the back of his neck, his vision sinking into eternal darkness as his head rolled to the ground.

All lethal strikes.

In an instant, the health bars of these skilled individuals were wiped out.

No time for a normal person to react.

It fully showcased the destruction power below Legend status.

Especially considering it was Void, representing the destruction of legends.

"Mark it! Quickly!" The remaining Elf Ranger in the squad let out a desperate roar.

As the Scythe of Shade’s blurred figure was about to disappear again, a human Night Watcher Warrior, lying in the dust with half a scorched cavity in his chest, used his last strength to draw a mysterious symbol in the air with his bloodied fingers.

"Anchor!"

He shouted his last words with all his life, extinguishing the fire of will in his eyes.

A faint but exceptionally stable star-mark anchored at the shadowy core, marking the moment the Scythe of Shade’s form solidified again.

Marking successfully completed.

But the cost was half a Night Patrol squad’s lives, including the Warrior’s body shattered and split in the purple-black light.

"Damn Void bastard!" The captain of the other squad, an Elf-clad Warrior, roared with rage, brandishing a Curved Saber and charging forward, "Avenge our brothers!"

Other Night Watcher Warriors, filled with grief and anger, attacked madly under the mark’s guidance.

However, the Scythe of Shade remained slightly restrained, seemingly provoked by the mark.

Its shadow blurred again, and two beams of space rift beams silently shot toward the charging Warrior.

"Clang—poof!"

Although a comrade’s Tower Shield blocked in time, the energy within the beams shattered the solid magic Shield instantly.

The Shield Warrior of the Night Watchers grunted, his arm and shoulder armor torn apart, blood mixed with purple-black minced meat exploded.

Death’s presence enveloped the battlefield.

"Demon! Get out of my forest!" A thunderous shout, imbued with immense Power of Nature, exploded like spring thunder.

A dazzling silver-green light tore through the space at the edge of the battlefield, and an elf legendary clad in a starlight-embedded Vine Armor and wielding two Crescent Long Blades made a booming Descent.

He was the Guardian of Cyan Forest, a Level Eleven Elf Sword Master, Eyndrel.

He was here purely by coincidence, merely wandering, but as an elf legend, he was also the Guardian here.

When he sensed the corruption of Void energy, he realized something was wrong and rushed here with all his might.

His sharp gaze instantly locked onto the deadly Void Assassin, joining the fray like a swift wind.

"Void, scum! What have you done?!"

With just one glance, fury raged within him.

Yet upon first clash, Eyndrel felt a chill in his heart.

His speed had reached perfection, reflecting his rule, but the momentary movements and attack trajectories displayed by the Scythe of Shade in marked status almost surpassed the limits of physical perception.

His dual blades sliced through the shadow, executing sharp attacks trailing the marked phantom, while the opponent’s space-tearing attacks constantly threatened dismemberment if he neglected caution.

Even more horrifying, the elf legend clearly sensed that each attack carried a rule power of destruction that dissolved the essence of life, causing his formidable Power of Nature to feel sluggish and depleted.

He was internally shaken: "The power is of my equivalent level, yet this destructiveness... far exceeds reasoning! Is this the essence of the Void Destroyer?"

Is this the rumored existence bringing apocalypse to the world?

"Its core is beneath the left rib! Mark the point there! After each ability is used, it temporarily solidifies!" The severely injured Elf Captain coughed blood, loudly conveying critical information to Eyndrel.

"Hold on! Pin it down!" Another Human Night Watch Mage strained to maintain the glow of the slowing spell.

Eyndrel’s heart stirred.

He observed the Night Watchers from various races and backgrounds beside him, their wounds, and the twisted corpses of sacrificed comrades being eroded by Void Energy on the ground.

He saw the unwavering determination in their eyes, devoid of fear, only a resolute will to protect... battling for this forest belonging to elves.

For the creed of a "Night Watcher," for the grand desire of "Salvation."

Now, there was no one unaware of the Night Watchers.

Yet he had never fought alongside the Night Watchers.

This strength of belief surpassed the shackles of strength and inter-racial barriers!
