Chapter 1246: Chapter 842: Seizing Every Opportunity (Part 2)
The damage caused would be far too great.
To endure the true Doomsday of Destruction that would come later, their population numbers had to be raised.
Population, enough population, elite population.
That was the main purpose of all these plans of the Night Watchers.
Facing the embodiment of the Rule of Destruction before him, Kana’s figure turned away without the slightest hesitation, ignoring the Purple Crystal God behind him that still whispered the concept of destruction and radiated terrifying radiation.
He seemed to merge into the star map itself, tearing open a passage and vanishing in an instant.
The light on the Void Purple Crystal God’s body flickered once; the annihilation patterns at its core seemed to spin faster with a faint "satisfaction"—the source of interference had vanished, and though the process of destruction had been slightly hindered, it would ultimately return to its original course.
...
The Abyss.
City 1121 Blood Battle Battlefield.
Blood Pit Fortress.
At this moment, the air here was filled with a sky-towering roar of slaughter and a scalding scent of rusted iron.
For the Abyss, such things seemed commonplace, and all the more so for the Blood Pit Fortress, but this time the momentum was vast, far beyond the past.
The reason for this, naturally, was that more Demon corps armies were attacking.
By now, the Demons already clearly knew of the newly erected fortress on the Blood Battle Battlefield.
Right at the Blood Pit Fortress on the flank of the main battlefield.
From now on, every Blood Pit Fortress would experience the same treatment as a Blood War Fortress, only with the number of Demons not quite as exaggerated.
And the reason for this war was that—
The Abyss had seized the "opportunity" when Kana was distracted elsewhere!
Clearly, for the Abyss, the problems facing Kana’s world were no secret.
The Blood Pit Fortress had been completely transformed in appearance.
If the previous battles had been small elite assaults and probing attacks, then this moment was a cascading flood of annihilation!
Outside the fortress, as far as the eye could see, was an endless tide of howling, roaring Demons.
Low Level Demons carpeted the charred earth like a filthy, rotten sheet of flesh; there were so many of them that it even slowed the speed at which their corpses turned to ash.
Among them were massive Abyssal Magical Beasts, packs of terrifying Demon Commanders, cunning succubus Assassin regiments, and even mobile "Siege Towers" fashioned from countless twisted limbs fused together.
The sky was blotted out by gargoyles, winged Demons, and all manner of misshapen Flight Demons, the shadows they cast reeking of foul sulphur and despair.
Above the fortress, the Iron Flower Structure that had originally been responsible only for Purification and Defense now blossomed with a far more intense light, one that carried an unmistakable offensive edge.
The edges of its petals flared with pure beams of Order, sweeping across the sky and the densely packed Demon hordes on the ground like heavenly judgment; every salvo cleared vast swathes of space, melting flesh, shattering bone, and purifying souls.
It itself was like the center of a vast vortex, madly absorbing the chaotic Abyssal Magic Power diffusing through the battlefield as fuel, converting it into even more lethal Order Energy.
This Iron Flower Structure’s main function was still concealed; instead, it kept displaying its many auxiliary functions.
One could say that for every Iron Flower Structure, no one truly knew what functions it specifically possessed.
The city wall Defense line was the core of the flesh-grinding mill.
Demon corpses and the shattered fragments of Night Watcher armor had been piled into a new bulwark.
Raelia’s figure was like the lightning core of a battlefield storm.
She was no longer a lone-wolf Hero, but had become the command nexus of a lethal storm.
The Long Spear in her hand had long since turned into a spinning wheel of light, the Holy Flame of the Furnace burning fiercely; every sweep drew a fan-shaped field of purifying fire.
Her Silver Battle Armor was stained with pitch-black Demon blood; the gaze beneath her helmet’s visor was sharp as a hawk’s as she precisely directed the Defense line. Her voice, via some Magic Array, resounded directly in the ears of every Night Watcher:
"Gap in the third Defense segment on the left wing! Alchemy group, Metal flood ready! Reserve spear formation push forward three meters! Hold the Impact!"
"Airspace! Coordinate B-7! Twin clusters of gargoyles! Iron Flower, concentrate beams! Blast them down!"
"First echelon on the right wing fall back for rotation! Sanctuary of treatment, prepare to receive the wounded! Second echelon move up!"
Her orders were concise, clear, and allowed no dispute.
She herself was a totem of inspiration.
In every battle, this Charge-leading commander personally took the vanguard, like a razor-edged blade on the battlefield, rampaging madly through the Demon formations.
"Weak Demons, turn to dust!"
When a powerful Abyssal Giant Beast smashed through a section of the city wall, attempting to tear open a massive breach, Raelia abandoned her safe position without a moment’s hesitation.
She let out a long howl, the soul-burning azure flame pouring through her entire body; like a silver-white meteor falling against the current, its tip wrapped in pale blue, she crashed head-on into that colossal monster, massive enough to rival a fortress tower.
The soul-burning flame erupted at once, condensing into a searing spearhead. Amid the deafening sound of Metal being torn apart and the monster’s agonized screams, it forcibly pierced through the Golem’s hardest "heart" stone core, the enormous kinetic force toppling the Golem’s corpse backward.
If this had not been within the Blood Pit Fortress zone, the materials from this Giant Beast’s body would have earned the Night Watchers a tidy fortune.
A pity, then, that it was right here.
At the torn breach in the wall, the Iron Flower Structure fired a thick pillar of silver-white light.
The gap was filled by a phantom, though it was only a semi-transparent projection.
The Alchemists who had been waiting below immediately set about operating the material transport apparatus arranged there.
They guided certain materials into the projection.
"Order construction command: Ironblood Bastion! Solidify!"
Amid harsh sounds of flowing Metal and dark-red energy pulses, silver-white liquid sheathing various Metals surged along the edges of the breach like a living giant serpent, racing, climbing, and shaping itself.
It solidified with tremendous speed, its surface bristling with sharp barbs and etched with defensive runes.
The construction system.
In the Abyss, no craftsmen were needed; as long as the proper Magic brought the materials in, Magic would replace tools to rapidly build.
In just a few breaths, the gap was replaced by a new defensive layer that shone with a metallic chill and scarlet energy circuits, even more Solid and intimidating than the previous Stone Wall.
Behind the newly patched breach, ranks of Night Watcher Heavy Armored Warriors and rune Archers rapidly took their positions, their concentrated fire once more sealing off the direction of the Demons’ advance.
The fortress was a highly efficient, unyielding war machine, frantically operating on the knife’s edge between Life and death.
Raelia and the Night Watchers’ will was the core engine that drove this machine, while the Iron Flower Structure was its integrated offense-defense system and Endless source of energy.
Yet the mood of the battlefield suddenly grew thicker, heavier.
A terror beyond words, like the wailing of billions of wronged souls mixed with sulphur and despair, abruptly descended upon the battlefield.
It did not come from a single direction; instead, it seemed to shroud the entire sky and earth of the Blood Pit Fortress, weighing down heavily upon every soul.
The frenziedly Charging Demon hordes faltered for an instant, then erupted into even more fanatical cheers!
The Suppression of an Abyss Evil God!
A twisted, blurry figure forcibly squeezed through the layer of Abyss energy storms outside the fortress. Its form was grotesque and incomprehensible, flickering ceaselessly between beast and human, its whole body oozing foul blood slurry and ever-burning Abyss runes.
Its aura was vast and chaotic, brimming with unwillingness and compelled fury.
"Damn Night Watchers... damn construct devices... damn little God... and damn Abyss Will!" The broken, filthy roars crashed directly against the fortress’s defensive shield.
"Come out! Cowardly God! Stop hiding in your rat hole! My lord is watching! He is furious and has ordered me to crush you insects!"
This was clearly a Low Tier Abyss God, forcibly dragged out from some unknown corner by the Abyss Will to shoulder the duties of a Divine war.
Its Power was beyond doubt, yet its posture was more akin to a savage beast driven onto the arena by chains, full of humiliation and resentment—and that humiliation swiftly turned into an even more brutal malice toward the fortress.
The Divine war could no longer be avoided!
The pressure inside the fortress spiked to its limit.
Raelia was drenched in blood, the soul-burning fire blazing fiercely as it resisted this God’s Suppression.
She raised her head toward the Iron Flower Structure and swiftly sent this urgent message to Kana.
The message was stripped down to the bone:
"Enemy Divine Level unit has appeared! Requesting support!"
The words were short, yet they carried an irresistible weight, and a hint of resolve that would not waver even when facing a hopeless dead end.
