Chapter 1273: Chapter 855: Planning Workshop
Tower of Trial.
The pure black giant wall piercing the sky casts a suffocating oppressive feeling at the southwestern corner of South City in Ring Tower City.
Here, less than a hundred meters from the tower base, the vastness of the tower, with a diameter of ten kilometers, is fully displayed.
Looking up, one sees an absolute blackness that devours light, neither metal nor stone in material, and the surface is not smooth like a mirror, but is covered with intricate, barely perceptible patterns.
As if a kind of living creature’s skin, or like a solidified night sky devouring the stars.
Originally, the appearance was not like this when it was built, but after a wish was made, even the material originally used to build the city seems to have undergone some kind of transformation.
Because a whole wish-granting stone was used, coupled with Kana’s wish, this Tower of Trial has, to some extent, become part of the world, part of the earthly world.
It stands silently, constituting a towering wall dividing reality and alternate space at the city’s edge.
Yet, at the foot of this black giant wall, this area of South City is the most rebellious, vibrant, or perhaps chaotic corner of the entire Ring Tower City.
The space here is maximized, even climbing upwards.
Dozens of floating buildings of various sizes and shapes are densely crowded in the sky at the city’s edge, like a flock of strange birds nesting beside the black cliff.
They are not the exquisite and magnificent buildings like the temples or command centers, but rather full of experimental roughness and wildness.
Simply put, these buildings are mostly full of personality, showcasing the wild nature of some groups.
Among them, the most striking and far larger than its peers is a huge entity directly adhering to the tower wall—Night Watcher’s enormous knowledge hub, "Great Library."
This building is also the headquarters of the Great Library, using the same name.
Take a closer look at this floating tower’s shape, and you’ll find it resembles an Iron Flower Structure.
Indeed, when constructing the Iron Flower Structure, the idea was actually to mimic the base concept of this floating tower.
A massive ring-shaped support platform composed of dozens of gigantic Obsidian Crystal leaves, flowing with data golden light.
Upon the platform is a mountain-like pure White Tower covered in a honeycomb-shaped defense field, storing countless confidential files, battlefield reports, ancient knowledge, and spell models of the Night Watchers.
Its enormous shadow, like a contemplative Giant Beast, envelopes a more chaotic area below.
Adjacent to and surrounding the Great Library, above a special "bump"-shaped Alchemy Platform extending from the city’s main body, floats the "Alchemy Laboratory" and its numerous subordinate experimental units.
This area is a dual vortex of visual and energy chaos, a chaotic symphony of vision.
Tilted spiralling towers, like drunken structures, inverted conical experimental pods spewing unknown smoke, steam punk mechanical fortresses with exposed gears clashing with bio-domes crawling with fluorescent vines.
Even liquid bubble groups composed of solidified Magic Spiritual Light occasionally float through the air, like living floating jellyfish.
Various buildings are haphazardly squeezed together, stacked into a rebellious sky shantytown.
The Night Watchers’ fondness for creating wonders led some Night Watchers to fall in love with architecture, even delving into this field.
These peculiar buildings are created by these architects, some of whom are perhaps also heads or experimental personnel of certain experimental departments.
The Magic Power concentration in this area is astonishingly high, the air as thick as Alchemy solution, shimmering with unstable, rainbow-hued halos.
Ordinary people would find breathing difficult here.
Frequent explosions are the daily background noise here, sometimes accompanied by the screeching sound of metal tearing or the dull thud of heavy objects falling.
But there’s no need to fear, as not even noise escapes to the outside because the entire area is enveloped in a barrier, and this barrier is not to protect the inside, but to protect the outside—a barrier from inside-out.
Blocking internal sounds, blocking internal hazards, while also maintaining the internal Magic Power concentration.
"Boom!"
A mushroom cloud-shaped green smoke mixed with failed refined metal fragments spews from the side of a tower, drawing the attention and shouting of several figures on the nearby platform.
"Damn Alba! Another ’Automatic Stirrer’ III model scrapped? My rare catalytic powder fed into your noise machine!"
A Goblin Engineer with singed whiskers waves a wrench, jumping up and down in anger.
"Nonsense! It’s your powder purity that’s lacking, blended with mud from the Sevys Swamp, isn’t it? Look at this Magic Power feedback chart!" On the smoke-wreathed tower, the Dwarf Alchemist retorts, face sooty from smoke, rudely, holding a light board projecting chaotic lines.
Besides explosions, there are also some strange Alchemy Equipment.
Unpopular Alchemy units roam or fall here, buzzing around, colliding with the Energy Barrier, smoking miniature reconnaissance eyes.
Several spider-shaped cleaning puppets toddle along, habitually mistaking trash bins for targets.
Occasionally, one might spot some extremely peculiar, seemingly meaningless semi-finished "Chimera Creations," patched together from multiple failed products, temporarily abandoned in the corner of a platform, ignored.
Passersby are unfazed; in any case, there are no city residents here—anyone entering are Night Watchers.
