Chapter 1293: Chapter 864: Graduation
Iron Oak Plain.
The important crossroads in the vast heartland of this continent.
Its fertile soil nourishes several towns and scattered villages.
Wide ancient merchant routes and emerging Magic Guide tracks, like veins, continuously transport resources and people to the border cities of Paragon Great Desert and the bustling ports of the southern Liberty City.
It can be said that this plain is so important, it connects so many urban clusters.
To the extent that over the years, the plain is covered with various paths and diverse buildings scattered in the wild.
Whether inns or post stations, the coming and going of people are so frequent that there are hardly any bandits here.
As they would be attacked by groups.
But although there are few bandits, there are some every year.
Because the caravans that travel through this area are so numerous and alluring.
But that’s all in the past.
Years ago, the number of bandits began to decrease.
Bandits often arise primarily from civilians who can’t get enough to eat or wear.
Of course, there are evil leaders as well.
Since the Adventurer’s House came into being, the gangs have gradually disappeared from various forces.
Adventurers are eager to take on such tasks, and those with some ability and ambition in martial force will become adventurers, rather than bandits.
Not to mention, nowadays it’s hard to gather as many people to become bandits, people’s lives have gotten slightly better.
Of course, you can’t credit those damn lords for these improvements, but rather thank the Night Watchers.
At least civilians with a bit of sense know this.
Even the residents in various villages and towns on this vast plain know this very well.
Yet even this has become a thing of the past.
But this abundance has now become a fatal allure—two sinister Void Rifts, emitting thick purple fog, have burst like vile sores at the central intersection of the plain.
Fortunately, compared to the beginning, the changes are not so drastic.
People can circle around half a day’s journey compared to before.
As the central area has become a massive battlefield, it unexpectedly leads to increased prosperity of surrounding commerce.
These accomplishments are indeed thanks to the Night Watchers.
When the initial Void Vanguard Army breached the world and invaded.
The Night Watchers’ response was textbook-like rapid.
When the first rift opened, the alarm tore through the tranquility of Ring Tower City command post via the [channel], the nearest rapid reaction force shot like an arrow towards Iron Oak.
As the local residents had not fully recovered from the panic, a circular wall constructed of cold steel and arcane runes already majestically surrounded the two rifts.
And this circular wall is constantly being updated and improved.
Within half a year, it has changed to the third model.
The frequent changes are due to the incredibly destructive nature of the creatures enclosed, they had to be replaced.
"Damn position," a Shield Warrior with a fresh scorch mark on his face, dressed in the kingdom’s elite heavy armor, spat.
He fiercely smashed the buzzing [Skull Crusher] heavy chain whip against a Clawed Beast climbing the battlement.
The crystalline shell of the Clawed Beast, condensed from purple-black energy, shattered instantly, and it was crushed into a corpse and quickly dissolved into ash.
"But damn, it’s fast! If it were a moment slower..." he hadn’t finished speaking when a Night Watcher veteran beside him had already smashed another sneaky Clawed Beast’s head with his heavy nail hammer.
"Just like whacking moles back in the day."
"I didn’t spend months whacking them as a kid."
"You grew up after all."
"Stop the cold jokes, we’re at war."
The pressure is intense.
Beyond estimation, immense.
The Iron Oak Plain’s Life Force is exceptionally abundant, maybe this powerful life vortex has become Void’s best "nourishment".
Two rifts emanate Clawed Beasts, twisted crystalline creepers, and nerve-wracking Low Tier "Soul Eaters" forming a tide endlessly assaulting the defense circle’s grey-black bulwark.
Damn Void.
The Void Creatures pouring out seem endless, twenty-four hours a day nonstop, with no intention to halt.
That’s enough.
If it was just one, then it would be manageable.
But a few days ago, another new rift abruptly opened nearby, the frenzied energy stream instantly tore apart the weak spots of the still unreinforced original defense line, rushing Void Creatures flooded in like a tsunami.
After a brutally intense meat grinder, the defense line was forced to retreat entirely, constructing a larger "8" shaped circular defense circle, locking the two rifts resolutely in the center.
The Night Watchers constructed such a defense circle for the first time, even opening their own eyes to the possibility.
Anyway, it’s useful.
This "chain" now bears double the pressure.
On the walls, two distinct but equally blood-stained standard armors stand side by side.
The Night Watcher’s signature dark silver-gray, sturdy and practical modular battle armor.
The kingdom’s finest Griffin Guard, wearing more ornate plate armor embedded with magic-resistant runes.
The difference lies in the inside of the Guard members’ left arm armor, mostly printed with a faint emblem provided by the Night Watchers.
That is a testament to the [Vow].
They are no longer mere mortal warriors, but adventurer warriors blessed by the Night Watchers, possessing datafication power, and gaining strength called "experience" by slaying Void.
