Chapter 1299: Chapter 867: Another Purge

On the other side.

Facing the soul-trembling presence of the [Twilight Weaver] and its shadowless, formless yet utterly lethal entanglement formed from condensed Rules.

Aisha Radiance turned into a streak of swiftly leaping golden lightning.

Her slender yet power-filled body twisted in the air in ways that surpassed the limits of the human frame—but for Legendary Powerhouses, this was nothing remarkable.

The speed traits of the [Dawnlight Chaser] were pushed to their absolute limit.

You could tell just from her title: she was an absolute speed-type combatant, and her corresponding Rule was very likely the same.

She moved around like light itself.

Every time she skimmed past those gray-white threads that could dissolve all things by a hair’s breadth, her Light Blade "Morningstar Gleam" would carve out a razor-sharp golden arc near the Weaver’s energy tendrils or eye-clusters.

For Legendary Powerhouses, raw Power isn’t as important as one might imagine—unless your Rule matches it.

"Annihilation of all things? So you really are a beast that destroys worlds!" Aisha’s voice was clear, ringing, and brimming with battle fervor.

After a hair-raising evasion that brushed past its surface, her Light Blade stabbed viciously toward the tangled crystalline threads in the Weaver’s Core Area.

"Taste the power of Dawn! Atone for the worlds you’ve destroyed!"

"Lightspeed Lunge · Stardust Fall!"

Countless light-points, dense as rainfall and Sharp as blades, shot out along the Light Blade’s explosive trajectory, slicing at the [Annihilation] crystal threads that sustained its Power.

"Hold it together! Wendysa!"

The [Fate Weaver] Wendysa was using the crystal Magic Staff in her hand to channel disruptive Spirit fluctuations while shouting at the tense [Nature Binder].

"Use ’Emerald Root-Grasp’ to bind its movements! Don’t let it fling those lines of destruction around at will!"

Wendysa swept both hands, invisible chains of Spirit attempting to interfere with the Weaver’s will and energy flow.

She was using some completely unperceivable force to influence the enemy—this was a top-tier Magic.

Through such Magic one could derive Rules; but even without having reached Legendary, for a Mage like her who had already ascended to the mortal pinnacle, it could be employed in a simplified way to affect foes at the Legendary Tier.

Meanwhile, the [Nature Binder] chanted an ancient Nature prayer; the earth answered the call, and thick emerald energy-vines, radiating rich vitality, sprang into being out of thin air.

Like living giant serpents, they coiled toward the Twilight Weaver’s tendrils and lower body cloud-mass.

Trying to restrict its range of movement, even though the edges of the vines were turning gray and dead at a speed visible to the naked eye under the lash of whips woven from [Annihilation].

"Life... unceasing... bind it!"

The [Nature Binder]’s voice trembled with stubborn resolve.

Trying to affect a Legendary with non-Legendary Power is anything but easy.

The fact that they possessed such titles meant they had such capabilities; it meant they had a real chance to cross the mortal limit and step into the Legendary.

The [Arcane Disruptor] was continuously hurling Arcane Missiles from the periphery, not to strike, but to explode near the Weaver’s Energy Nodes.

These explosions formed short-lived yet highly effective [Rule Turbulence Zones], causing the enemy’s devastating Rule attacks to falter briefly and making the weaving of its energy threads sluggish.

For a pure offense-type combatant like him, in a battle at Legendary level, all he could do was use his overwhelming offensive methods to disrupt the opponent, unable to make his attacks truly inflict meaningful damage.

To actually injure the enemy, they had to rely on the Legendary Powerhouses in their squad; the rest of them could only perform support maneuvers around the edges.

But even that was already extremely powerful.

For a normal Life to cross into Legendary, it requires long periods of accumulation.

Even for a Night Watcher—even though a Night Watcher can, within just a few short years, go from an Ordinary person to the very limit of mortal Life.

Once they hit that threshold, they too have to honestly stop and contemplate their own Power.

Yet the reason datafied Power is so formidable is that even at this stage it allows Night Watchers who have reached their limits to step into the Legendary at a much faster pace.

The Power brought by Rules and Skills, the way Skills extend and weave into one’s own abilities—this process in itself is the structuring of one’s Power.

It likewise accelerates one’s understanding of Rules, leading to entry into the Legendary.

If the Night Watchers hadn’t expanded so rapidly—if they hadn’t, within barely over a decade, reached their current scale—they wouldn’t be in this situation where their strength at the Legendary Stage feels somewhat stretched thin.

But in the last two years, their deeper foundation has begun to erupt.

Those Night Watchers who hit the Level Ten limit early and started Rule comprehension—among them, the gifted ones have already begun to step into the Legendary one after another.

In another five to ten years, Legendary Powerhouses among the Night Watchers will surge in an explosive wave.

By then, the definition of a Soul Guardian Squad may truly become a squad composed purely of Legendary Powerhouses.

Switching the view back.

On the battlefield, he gritted his teeth and shouted, "It’s reweaving its Nodes! Captain Aisha, right-side energy conduit!"

A Legendary battle is a clash of roaring Rules.

The [Crystalline Spread] Rule of the Shatter-Crystal Tyrant collided violently with Rein’s [Ever-Firm Bulwark] Domain, like two opposing world-laws wrestling against one another.

At the boundary between crystal growth and earthen-yellow radiance, space itself warped and ruptured in patterns visible to the naked eye.

Every direct clash was like mountains colliding; the Impact’s shockwaves plowed over the ground, instantly pulverizing all Low Level creatures in the pollution zone into dust.
