Chapter 1340: Chapter 886: New Function_2
The extra transport capacity can also be used to move more other supplies.
"Third, and this is the most strategically significant point!" Master Glenn’s voice carried an excitement he could hardly suppress.
"The ’Order Pyramid’ is equipped with a powerful ’Space Interference Generator’. It can actively lock onto a Void Rift and fire a highly condensed Order Rule shockwave into its core!
"This impact is not physical destruction, but a strong disturbance to its spatial structure, making it extremely unstable and temporarily severing its connection to the Void source."
Lurik’s gaze sharpened: "Interruption time?"
He instantly grasped the tactical value this function would bring.
"It depends on the stability and energy Level of the Rift, the margin of error is large, but at minimum it can forcibly interrupt the connection for two hours, and at maximum it’s estimated to reach six hours."
Master Glenn’s speech sped up. "Within this precious window, the Rift creatures that have lost the Void Energy support from behind will no longer receive effective reinforcement, and their ability to operate will be weakened under the suppression of the Order field.
"Then we’ll have the chance to gather our strength, thoroughly pull out this nail, or establish a solid forward base to seal it completely!"
This is the tower’s greatest function; the others are merely add-ons to it.
"Six hours..." Lurik rolled the number over in his mind, a fierce battle intent flaring in his eyes, but he asked again, "The cost and cooldown?"
Master Glenn’s expression grew solemn. "Yes, my lord. To unleash a single ’space interference’ consumes an enormous amount of energy, and it will place tremendous load on the core Order Crystal array.
"After one successful interference, the Pyramid needs roughly a full month of energy replenishment, system cooldown, and recalculation of spatial parameters.
"During this period, it cannot launch a second effective interference on the same target or a new one."
Lurik gazed at the six-tiered crystal tower in the air, rotating slowly and radiating a silver-gray brilliance, while the geometric light-bodies around it seemed to be silently weaving the laws of Order.
The port’s wind brushed his dust-caked beard, and even the distant, ceaseless thunder of artillery from the front line seemed less harsh.
"Is there no other way to shorten the cooldown time?"
The more often it could be used, the greater the impact it would bring.
Even two hours would be an enormous boost for the Night Watchers.
They could, within those two hours, rapidly shrink the area affected by a Void Rift.
This was the confidence given to him by the Night Watchers’ construction corps.
"It must be a month, because it’s not just energy intake; it also includes recalculating the data.
"The parameters of the Void Rift won’t remain the same after the first interference. There will be many fluctuations to evade the same data interference."
Simply put, this function is actually using the small to gamble against the large.
By using the Power of Datafication to calculate certain data about the Void Rift, then using some precise data to interfere, forcing the opponent to cut off.
Or rather, it’s not exactly a cut-off; if we have to define it, it’s more like disrupting the opponent’s signal connection.
In truth, the spatial Rift still exists, it’s just become chaotic. If they want to teleport creatures through, they can only rely on pure luck.
Out of a hundred sent, not even one is guaranteed to get through, and the influence of the Void will be weakened as well.
Thus achieving an Effect similar to the Gate of Void being shut.
Though it’s a bit helpless, this is enough.
"A month... is enough." The Dwarf Sage’s voice was low and firm, like clashing steel.
"As long as we can tear open a Break, even for just two or three hours... we can hammer the wedge of victory deep into the heart of ’Steel Broken Cliff’!"
His gaze passed over the cheering crowd, over the bustling port, toward the distant battlefield shrouded in violet-black and filthy green, as if he could already see the moment the breach was opened.
This ’Order Pyramid’ is not just a Weapon; it is also a beam of hope piercing the clouds of despair.
Daniel glared at the ’Order Pyramid’ floating above the port, radiating a soothing silver glow.
His rough fingers unconsciously rubbed the stubborn physical dents on his axe haft—the violet-black corrosion marks of Void pollution and that maddening Whisper had completely vanished, leaving only pure scars.
A long-lost rush of iron-scented satisfaction suddenly surged to his head.
"Fuck!" He slammed a fist into the wooden railing beside him, shaking dust down in a shower. "You see that? Liya, Fercheck, Martha! You see that damned thing?!"
Liya’s emerald eyes flashed with a sharp light. She stared intently at the geometric light-bodies swirling around the Pyramid, feeling the Order Power in the air that dispelled Chaos, and spoke in a low voice.
"A pure construct of Order Rules... I wonder if it’s the handiwork of a God. It can suppress Void pollution, and even interfere with the Void Rift itself!"
As an Elf, she had more knowledge.
She felt that only a God could accomplish this.
And the only God was the Leader of the Night Watchers.
"Whatever whose handiwork it is!" Daniel’s voice boomed like war drums. He suddenly turned, the trace of laziness from just returning to port to rest wiped away, leaving only blazing battle fervor.
"Those purple-skinned crystal-cluster bastards on the front line have had that damn gate propping them up from behind, pressing us down for half a year! The blood the brothers shed, the shit we’ve had to swallow—now it’s time to pay it all back!"
The Beastman was seething with rage; very soon his fury and pent-up frustration would finally be unleashed.
Fercheck sprang up like a monkey, shrieking, "Yeah! Hit the fuckers! I’ve had enough of crawling through that muck to dodge those freaks that spew Spirit pollution.
"With this big beauty pushing up front, we gotta be the first to charge. Let those Void brats taste what it’s like to get beaten up on their own doorstep."
Martha checked the string of her composite bow, nodding steadily, her eyes burning as well. "I’ve had enough of the pathetic queues at the supply point too. This is the chance, Daniel’s right—if we don’t go back now, all that frustration we swallowed before really was for nothing. Move!"
It seemed many Adventurers were furious, yet just as excited.
That feeling of an endless, surging tide coming at them, forcing them into a cramped Defense line, enduring suffocating Defense—was about to leave them.
The decision was reached almost instantly.
This band of veterans who had been gnawing on ’Steel Broken Cliff’s’ hard bone for a long time, after only replenishing the most urgently needed Antidotes, durable bowstrings, and a few decent whetstones at the port, unhesitatingly cut short their pitifully brief rest and merged into another surging torrent—countless Adventurers who shared their thoughts.
On the road from the Warship Port to the inland front line, an unprecedented bustle rose.
Not the heavy convoys hauling supplies, but one mobile force after another brimming with murderous intent.
Land Bird cavalry units.
Riders in Armor bearing various Mercenary Corps emblems spurred their rented Land Birds—Night Watcher standard mounts clad in light Armor—kicking up clouds of dust.
The shrill cries of the bird-flocks intertwined with the rough shouts of the Knights.
The Night Watchers’ Land Bird breeding techniques had long since reached their peak, spreading these excellent mounts almost across the entire world.
Besides these regular mounts—
A few ’Swift Shadow’ woodland off-road vehicles, angular in shape and sheathed in dark Metal plates, roared past.
Their appearance looked somewhat like off-road motorbikes.
The Magic Energy cores spat pale-blue exhaust flames, while the thick, gripping tires rolled over the rugged road as if it were flat ground.
The Adventurers seated on them gripped the handholds tight, savage grins of impatience on their faces.
Several Adventurers from the hot, humid southern regions were mounted on tamed swamp giant lizards covered in Scale Armor.
These creatures had astonishing stamina, moved quickly in complex terrain, and exuded a wild aura.
More numerous were the Ordinary Adventurer squads who couldn’t afford or couldn’t rent mounts. They ran with packs and Weapons on their backs, strides wide, eyes just as burning hot.
They knew that whoever reached the front line first would seize the chance to smash the Void and earn merit.
The road that had been somewhat quiet, with only sporadic supply teams and Patrol squads passing, had at this moment become a raging river of anger surging forward.
A common target—’Steel Broken Cliff’, a common desire—to vent the fury they’d bottled up for half a year.
The air was no longer filled merely with dust and Chaos Magic Power; now it carried a fierce new scent, one called "vengeance."
