Chapter 51: Chapter 20: [The Radiant Sun’s Scheme, The Night King’s Poison]

"We need the strains of the Underground City Spiritual Fungi," Talia replied.

"I will send a Demon Crow scout to deliver them to you before nightfall. Are you pretending to be adventurers? Playing house with a few low-level adventurers? The quirks of the Mixed-blood Demon Race are truly ridiculous!" Valak cackled. "When the Demon Crow arrives with the poisonous fungal strains, figure out a way to come out and get them yourselves. Don’t let your little game delay my business!"

"No problem," Talia nodded. The Feather-crowned Demon Crow flapped its wings and departed.

"My goodness, that was..." Talia breathed a sigh of relief.

"I... well, I actually still don’t really want to fight the Alliance people," Samael whispered. "They seem... like pretty good people."

"It’s fine, I’ll handle it," Talia said, shaking her head. "However, our appearances are too recognizable. We absolutely cannot do it ourselves; otherwise, we’d be spotted instantly, which would arouse the suspicion of the other adventurers.

"This place is too far from Valak’s Underground City, placing it beyond his range of dominance. He can’t control the beasts in this area. Only the Demon Crows have a high enough Spiritual Energy adaptability for him to manipulate one or two from such a distance. But since we are nearby, I can control the local Magical Beasts.

"Tonight, I will control the nearby Magical Beasts to intercept the convoy. That will draw their attention and give us the opportunity to slip the poisonous strains inside."

"Speaking of Magical Beasts... Randall’s team might be getting a bit suspicious," Samael added. "They haven’t encountered a single Magical Beast attack along the entire journey, so they might start wondering if we have something to do with it. We still need to put on a show and find a way to bluff our way through."

"Ah... that is indeed a problem..." Talia paused, momentarily stunned. "Wait a minute, I remember them saying they hadn’t encountered any Undead either, right?"

"Didn’t you scare away both the Undead and the Magical Beasts?" Samael asked.

"No, Samael. The predatory aura of the Demon Race can only scare away Magical Beasts," Talia said, shaking her head. "The Undead indiscriminately attack all living things, including the Demon Race. Although the Demon Race can expend a massive amount of extra Spiritual Energy to control the Undead, it’s incredibly difficult and highly inconvenient. We are much more accustomed to controlling demonized living creatures."

"Which means, the reason we haven’t encountered any Undead since we started traveling together is..." Samael mused.

Talia looked at Samael, and Samael looked back at her. "Oh, right. That makes sense." He snapped back to reality, looking down at his breastplate.

"...When I was young, I read in a book in my mother’s study that ancient Ghost Knights were the absolute pinnacle of high-tier Undead. They could control Undead Creatures, and the armor’s Undead aura could blanket a small surrounding area, preventing nearby Undead Creatures from being indiscriminately disturbed," Talia recalled.

"Huh? I can control the Undead?" Samael frantically accessed his UI, pulling up his disorganized database and searching for terms related to the concept of ’control.’

The text descriptions in the armor’s database differed greatly from the terminology used in this world, making it difficult to find matching content right away.

"Control..." he thought.

[Basic Matter Phase Transition - Heat Treatment Control]... No.

[Colonial Management - Personnel Allocation and Cost Control]... No.

"No, no, it should be a different concept, another keyword... What could it be?" he wondered.

Samael pondered deeply. Suddenly, he remembered the summary text detailing the command methods for the Rot Root Balls and the Earth-Devouring Demon Insects:

[Methods of command include, but are not limited to: Ethereal Spiritual Signals (i.e., the Spiritual Energy signals of Space Sub-Humans), and Spiritual Implant modifications.]

"Should I try ’signal’? Or maybe ’command’?" he pondered.

He searched for the "signal" entry...

[Synthetic Biology - Nether Copper Resonance Signal]

[Through a medium resonance signal created by Nether Copper, it is possible to command Spiritual Constructs repurposed from discarded organic matter. Due to the unique resonance frequency, this signal can only be generated using Nether Copper materials.]

He searched for "Nether Copper Resonance"...

[Auxiliary Equipment Diagnostic: Nether Copper Resonator]

[Status: Optimal.]

[Nether Copper Resonator is ready and available for use.]

[Striking the Nether Copper produces a resonance signal of a specific frequency for long-distance communication, allowing the command of organic Spiritual Constructs within the signal’s range.]
