THE GOD EATER
Chapter 1387: The Temptation.
But even if he wasn’t paying attention, he couldn’t have missed the descent of two avatars onto Thief Haven.
The thread of thought he left in the projection of his Supreme Metac had been paying attention to everything happening in Thief Haven. And when it saw two Supreme Metacs descending, it immediately contacted his true body to tell him the news.
The thread of thought wouldn’t contact him for just anything. It did so now because it believed that this was important enough to alert the true body.
As it turned out, the thread of thought wasn’t wrong. But when Loki heard that two avatars were up to something in Thief Haven, he wasn’t concerned. Far from being concerned, he was amused.
He chuckled and said, "Here it comes."
"They can’t wait anymore. They have dropped the bait now. I bet they’re waiting for me to fall for it."
"Classic trap. They let me add a Domain to Thief Haven, so I would know when the vulnerable avatars of my enemies descend and be tempted to make a move."
Shaking his head, he said, "Unfortunately for them, I’m not so easy to fool."
"I won’t rush ahead into a situation I know is a trap just like that. At least, I need much bigger bait than that to make it worth the risk."
He already had all the Supreme Metacs those two could offer, so there was nothing tangible to gain by hunting them. They also had more pathways, and killing their avatars wouldn’t be the end of them, so there was no intangible benefit either.
After weighing the pros and cons, he snorted and said, "Anyway, I won’t go. Let’s see who will force my hand."
Then he returned to his work. Right now, it was all hands on deck.
His avatar has been busy throughout the lower realm, expanding the Olympic Sect. He sold Wandering Thief’s information to any Dao Lord who would listen, in exchange for things like a permanent resident in their Domain or celestial gold.
Only one Dao Lord didn’t want him anywhere in their Domain and was willing to pay a lot of celestial gold for the secret. Black Chain paid 5,000 celestial gold instead of agreeing to let him openly establish sect grounds and recruit disciples without retaliation in his Domain.
So his avatar has been busy taking advantage of his numerous deals to recruit more mortals. The mortals in Black Chain’s Domain were also recruited en masse.
Because he had a deal with other Dao Lords, his avatar didn’t need to be around to protect his disciples. His disciples could openly recruit more mortals without fearing attacks from the resident sect or their Dao Lord, so he gave them the motivation to do so and left them to their ways.
This freed his avatar to stay permanently available to deal with any trouble from the Four Directions Sect across the Sea of Worlds. He didn’t think it would solve the problem directly, but he hoped it would serve as a deterrent and discourage Black Chain from doing something the Four Directions Sect would regret.
However, not every Dao Lord was open-minded enough to make a deal with him. Green Fire refused to pay for whatever secret he might have about Wandering Thief. She wouldn’t even listen to him.
Even if she didn’t want it, he still gave it to her for free, proving once again that he was always generous. As a reward for his generosity, he helped himself to the mortals in her Domain, recruiting them into the Olympic Sect.
As for White Loki, this traitorous clone of his received the celestial gold from Black Chain and invested it in the Olympic Divine Mountain.
He already had 40.5 billion square kilometers of Domain Power, so adding 5,000 units of celestial gold helped secure his control of the Divine Court.
After White Loki did this, he returned to patrolling the Divine Mountain. He wasn’t much use for anything else, so Loki made him the muscle, while his black clone did the smart work, like making Supreme Metacs.
Actually, Loki could control the Gemini Supreme Metac and use his white clone for anything. Unfortunately, he wasn’t supposed to be able to do that, and they were watching his every move.
With the level of surveillance placed on him, he couldn’t hide using a clone he wasn’t supposed to control to build Supreme Metacs of the Devouring Pathway, which he shouldn’t be able to do since he was in the Creation Pathway.
’Even the god king shouldn’t be able to make Supreme Metacs of the Creation Pathway, so it will surely blow their minds when I do it,’ he thought, smirking in disdain.
’What noobs! Utterly incompetent noobs.’
’Even in their wildest dreams, they can’t fathom what I’m capable of. No wonder the clones they made for me are so incompetent idiots.’
To be fair, his clones are actually normal, not as mentally retarded as he made them to be. In fact, they were more intelligent than normal Dao Lords since they were created from a special egg.
But to Loki, their so-called intelligence was similar to the ability of a one-eyed man being able to see among a sea of blind people. The one-eyed man’s vision couldn’t be called complete when compared to a man with two perfectly functioning eyes.
In the same way, their intelligence couldn’t be compared to the magnificent things he was capable of. Then again, even if they had two good eyes and perfect vision, he would still sneer at them because what he could do was absolutely extraordinary and had no equal.
His disdain for his clone only grew because he was forced to pretend it was difficult to make Supreme Metacs for other pathways, even though it made no difference to him which pathway was which.
It grated on him because he wanted to make a Supreme Metac of the Time Pathway to stop any kind of time manipulation around him.
