Chapter 837: Can’t Believe It.
Because he had just left the Cave Heaven, he couldn’t run away. So this person was able to get close to him despite his extensive evasive maneuvers.
The person’s eyes gleamed with glee when they saw him. Then they grinned and said, "I’ve finally found you."
They were already attacking him while they spoke. It seemed they didn’t want to waste time talking and give him the opportunity to escape.
A concentrated beam of golden light pierced through the air to strike him. The beam of golden light turned everything it touched, including dust in the air, into gold. Then the golden smashed into him.
The power of the attack was 8(Cultivation Rank) × (8(Body) + 8(Will) + 8(Mind)) × (8 × 3)Divine Metacs, which is 4,608 units of divine power.
Loki responded by making a black force field surround him. This black force field is different from the one he usually uses in that it is blacker than usual. It is also blurry, and it has mental components that confuse anyone it touches.
So now, the black force field can confuse a target and make them find it difficult to resist. This is because this back force field was created together with the help of other Divine Metacs, not just with Fenrir.
This ability to combine the power of the Devouring Ability with other Metacs like the Obscuring Mist Metac and the Will Erosion Metac is a perk he gained when Fenrir detached from him. So the power of the black force field is stronger than normal.
His power output with the black force field was 9(Cultivation Rank) × (9(Body) + 9(Will) + 9(Mind) + 9(Insight) + 9(Soul)) × (8(Fenrir) + (6 ×4)Divine Metacs), which is 12,960 units of divine power.
Because of this power, he was able to block the ray of light. Instead of being turned into gold and frozen, he was also able to extend the black force field over to Money Body. Then he wrapped Money Body up in his own cocoon.
After doing so, he shook his head and said to Money Body, "Why do you want to die so much?"
"You could have remained safe and sound where you were, but you had to come over to be killed. Are you suicidal?"
Money Body didn’t answer. It seemed he was still in shock.
This made Loki sigh and say, "Look at how far I’ve come."
In the past, he would bow his head and act obedient so as not to offend Money Body. But his strength has reached the extent where he could nab Money Body as easily as swatting a fly. It made him emotional.
What’s most amusing wasn’t that he defeated Money Body. The most important part of this short fight between him and Money Body, and also the most amusing part, was that he didn’t use his full power.
Right now, he has only used 5 out of 11 Divine Metacs he has in his possession. So he can easily double his power if he wants to. He didn’t do so now because he didn’t want to kill Money Body quickly.
If he were to kill Money Body now, his death would scare the divine beings hunting him away. So after he secured Money Body within his grasp, he reduced the number of Divine Metacs he was using to three.
This made his power output fall to 9(Cultivation Rank) × (9(Body) + 9(Will) + 9(Soul)) × (8(Fenrir) + (6 × 2)Divine Metacs), which is 4,860 units of divine power. In comparison, Money Body’s maximum power is 4,608 units of divine power.
So with this level of power, he can keep Money Body captured without killing him too quickly. This is not only to keep Money Body from dying too quickly, but it was also to make sure that Money Body would suffer for as long as possible.
Money Body still refused to make a sound, even though the pain of being burned alive by a flame that was cutting him all over was a lot to bear. But this didn’t stop Loki from laughing.
As he dragged his prey away, he said, "I promised to torture him to death, but I didn’t expect that it would be like this. Who would have guessed that I would be torturing him mainly because I didn’t want to kill him?"
He found this amusing, so he laughed. He laughed merrily and loudly as he went about hunting more people. But Money Body couldn’t laugh.
In fact, Money Body couldn’t do anything aside from staring into space. If not for the constant pain of something tearing into him, he would have easily believed that he was dreaming.
Even now, he wanted to believe that he was dreaming. Divine beings don’t sleep, so a divine being shouldn’t dream. If a divine being is dreaming, that can be seen as a sign of a terrible problem with their minds.
A problem with the mind of a divine being can be more difficult to deal with than a physical problem with their bodies. But he was willing to have a psychological problem rather than accept what had just happened to his esteemed self.
As he stood there in the core of his Cave Heaven, staring into space, memories of what had just happened went through his mind. Scenes of what had happened flashed through his eyes, and he saw everything clearly, again and again.
He saw how he was subdued like an adult subduing a wayward child in a loop. He was trying to find a weakness in the dragon that he could exploit or figure out something he could do differently. But instead of being helpful, it was as if his humiliation was playing on repeat.
Actually, his humiliation was indeed playing on repeat. And that feeling of humiliation was worse because, no matter how he reviewed that fight, he couldn’t find anything helpful.
The fight had been too short for variables. He made a move, and the dragon made a move. Then he lost.
