The God of Football Starts With Passive Skills
Chapter 806 - 145: Record-Breaking! Finale Transfer! Outrageous Faction! Goodbye, Henry! The Biggest Win in History!
De Bruyne took the free kick on the right flank.
When he delivered the ball, Subotic leaped high at the near post, flicking it with a header toward the far post. Vermaelen quickly surged forward and met it with a powerful diving header, smashing the football into Blackburn’s net.
5-0!
Crazy!
They were playing out of their minds!
During the halftime break, sitting in the locker room, there was absolutely no need for a pep talk. When everyone saw Wang Shuo’s heavily bandaged left foot and his shattered shin guard, their fury ignited.
Who was Wang Shuo? The boss of the Arsenal locker room! Their leader had been bullied to such an extent; how could they not seek revenge?
Besides, what was Blackburn’s nickname? Violent Blackburn! Those bastards hadn’t spared Arsenal in past years! In the past, they didn’t have the capability, so they let themselves be bullied. But now? Who was afraid of whom?
When the Gunners returned to the pitch, Blackburn attempted to launch an attack right at the start of the second half. As a result, their very first shot of the entire match came from a long-range effort twenty-five meters out. Szczeny didn’t even need to jump to comfortably catch the ball. It was as if they were terrified of not getting a single shooting opportunity all game, forcing them to take a hasty attempt.
In the 50th minute, Walcott earned a corner kick on the right side. De Bruyne delivered the corner into the center of the penalty area, where it was cleared by Hanley, the substitute opposing center-back. At the Arc Top District, Arteta chased down the loose ball and unleashed a furious volley. The football drilled straight into the left side of Blackburn’s goal.
6-0!
The most amusing scene unfolded four minutes later. De Bruyne, receiving the ball thirty meters out, passed it to Walcott on the right. Wang Shuo was also lingering in the right channel and was the first to sprint forward. Consequently, Blackburn’s midfielders and defenders completely swarmed after Wang Shuo.
Walcott, who clearly had the ball at his feet, suddenly realized that not a single defender was pressing him. The Little Tiger himself was dumbfounded!
He wondered, "Hey, the ball is over here! Why are you all chasing Wang Shuo? What’s going on? Do you all think I’m definitely passing to Wang Shuo?"
Upon reaching the edge of the penalty area, Walcott simply decided against driving further forward and instead cut inside. The most absurd part was that three defenders were completely surrounding Wang Shuo, ensuring Walcott had absolutely zero chance of passing to him. Another three players were lined up on the right side of the penalty spot, blocking Walcott’s direct line to the goal.
Yet, as the Little Tiger dribbled inside along the penalty box line, he was completely ignored! It wasn’t until right winger Pedersen tracked back from the front line into the penalty area that Walcott was finally intercepted. But the Little Tiger made a quick pass first, finding an unmarked Hazard to the left of the penalty spot. Hazard easily slotted the ball into the near corner, sending it into Blackburn’s net once again.
7-0!
Everyone stared at the scene in sheer disbelief, truly at a loss for words.
"Blackburn’s defenders have clearly been scared out of their wits by Wang Shuo!" the Sky Sports commentator exclaimed. How else could one explain them completely abandoning their defense on the ball-carrying Walcott to swarm around Wang Shuo?
In the 58th minute, after making a breakthrough past two Blackburn defenders on the left flank, Hazard made another pass to Arteta, whose volley sailed just over the crossbar.
Then, in the 62nd minute, Gibbs surged forward on the left and whipped a low cross across the face of the goal. An unmarked Wang Shuo easily swept the ball into the net.
8-0!
"A hat-trick!"
Wang Shuo turned and sprinted toward the sidelines, waving his hands in excitement. Amidst the deafening cheers of the entire stadium, he celebrated yet another hat-trick!
For Arsenal, this match was going far too smoothly!
Trailing by eight goals and a man down, Blackburn had completely collapsed. From the 62nd minute onward, although the Gunners maintained possession, they began to slow down their relentless attacks. Wenger also started making substitutions.
First, he brought on Henry for Walcott. As Henry took the pitch, he was greeted with a thunderous ovation from the entire Emirates Stadium. Soon after, Pogba came on to replace Hazard.
In the 81st minute, Wang Shuo and De Bruyne executed a brilliant one-two pass. De Bruyne carried the ball into the right side of the penalty area, only to be tripped by Blackburn center-back Dann. However, the referee waved play on and refused to award a penalty.
Not long after, Pogba received the ball in the left channel, pushed forward for a breakthrough into the box, and was fouled to the ground. Yet again, the referee made no call. Anyone could see that he was trying to save Blackburn a shred of dignity.
In the history of the Premier League, an 8-0 massacre was already sensational. The last time such a lopsided scoreline occurred was on May 9, 2010, in the 38th round of the Premier League, when Chelsea demolished Wigan Athletic 8-0 at home.
Interestingly, the previous 8-0 scoreline had the same victim—Wigan Athletic—and it happened in the very same season. On November 22, 2009, in the 13th round of the Premier League, Tottenham utterly dismantled Wigan Athletic 9-1. That was the match where Defoe single-handedly scored five goals in a single game.
To be brutally slaughtered by two different teams in one season—one could only imagine the psychological trauma Wigan Athletic endured. Yet, miraculously, despite such back-to-back torment, Wigan Athletic managed to avoid relegation. One had to admit, they were incredibly resilient.
Just as everyone assumed the match would end at 8-0, an unexpected twist occurred in stoppage time. De Bruyne delivered a diagonal pass. As Pogba sprinted toward the penalty area from the left channel, he executed a beautiful one-two with Wang Shuo. Breaking through to the left of the penalty spot, Pogba unleashed a furious shot that pierced right through Blackburn’s net.
