Chapter 819 Charge! Unstoppable Wang Shuo! The Fastest Hat-Trick in History! De Bruyne’s Deadly Diagonal Pass!

  • Next Chapter

Arsenal had taken complete control of the match. No one could believe this was the top-ranked team in the Premier League absolutely crushing the fourth-place team. Under these circumstances, almost every play the Gunners made seemed to hit the mark.

By the 62nd minute, while defending Wang Shuo just outside the Arc Top District, Sandro stepped on his foot. The foul earned Sandro a yellow card and handed Arsenal a free kick in the attacking half, roughly twenty-six meters from the goal.

Wang Shuo naturally stepped up to the spot and slowly backed away. Once Tottenham Hotspur set up their defensive wall, he made a swift run-up. His left foot struck a dipping knuckleball with a bizarre trajectory and incredible speed that drilled straight into the back of Tottenham Hotspur’s net.

"A poker!!!" the commentator shouted.

"Another four-goal haul!

"This is Wang Shuo’s second poker of the season!

"My God, Arsenal is playing like absolute madmen tonight! From the final minutes of the first half to the opening of the second, they’ve taken complete control of the situation. Tottenham Hotspur’s defense simply can’t stop them! Keep in mind, Tottenham conceded twenty-five goals in their first twenty-five rounds this season—averaging one goal conceded per game. Arsenal conceded twenty-seven goals in their first twenty-five rounds, meaning their defense was actually worse than Tottenham Hotspur’s. But in this match, Wenger’s team has utterly demolished Tottenham’s defensive formation! Six to two!"

Just three minutes later, Tottenham Hotspur launched a rapid counterattack. Gareth Bale drove the ball down the left side of Arsenal’s penalty box and attempted a cross to the front of the goal. Subotic headed the ball clear, but Modric intercepted it on the perimeter and shifted it back out to the right wing, only for Gibbs to steal it away.

Gibbs passed to Vermaelen, who immediately launched a long ball upfield searching for Wang Shuo. Near the left side of the center circle at the midfield line, Caboul overpowered Wang Shuo and headed the ball back into Arsenal’s half.

However, Arteta recovered the ball and sent a chipped pass over the top, dropping it behind the defensive line. Wang Shuo made a rapid forward run, surging ahead to block Caboul with his body and trapping the ball just a step quicker. Caboul and Ledley King instantly double-teamed Wang Shuo, forcing him to stop and shield the ball. Behind him, Parker, Sandro, and Kyle Walker all tracked back simultaneously.

Five players surrounded Wang Shuo, yet he still managed to protect possession. After a series of rapid touches, he flicked a pass right to the edge of the Arc Top District.

Walcott sprinted forward at breakneck speed, trapping the ball as he entered the penalty box, and slotted home a low shot in a one-on-one situation.

Seven to two!

Even more astonishingly, in the 68th minute—just three minutes after his last goal—Alexandre Song intercepted the ball on the right side of their own half and abruptly launched a long pass straight behind the opponent’s defensive line. Walcott made another rapid run, charging deep into the defense to receive the ball before scoring yet another one-on-one goal.

Eight to two!

Madness! The entire Emirates Stadium descended into absolute madness!

All the Gunners fans stared in disbelief at the players sprinting across the pitch, unable to fathom that this was actually real. Previously, when the Gunners had crushed Blackburn 10-0 at home, everyone assumed it was just a fluke. But now, after trailing by two goals, they had struck back with eight consecutive goals. The most absurd part was that it was only the 68th minute. This meant that from the moment Wang Shuo scored their first goal up until now, a grand total of merely half an hour had passed.

Eight goals in half an hour! Who could believe it?

"This is undoubtedly the most spectacular half-hour of the entire season!" the Sky Sports commentator declared, pinpointing the reason for the wild comeback. "Both sides went all out, delivering a fast-paced, unreserved offensive battle."

Tottenham refused to play conservatively! Even after subbing on Sandro in the second half, Tottenham continued to insist on trading blows with Arsenal. As a result, this so-called offensive battle turned into a one-sided beatdown by Arsenal!

Fortunately, after the 70-minute mark, the Gunners finally began to slow down their attacks. Wenger also made a series of substitutions. In the end, neither side managed to find the back of the net again, and the final score was frozen at eight to two!

"Bloodthirsty Arsenal has achieved a quintessential victory!"

This was the evaluation given by Sky Sports during their post-match summary. Was the match entertaining? Absolutely spectacular!

The Sky Sports commentators considered this to be the most thrilling North London Derby in history. With an abundance of goals, it set the highest-scoring record ever in a match between Arsenal and Tottenham. What was the largest scoreline in the history of the two clubs? During the 31st round of the First Division in the 1934-35 season, Arsenal had crushed Tottenham Hotspur 6-0 at White Hart Lane Stadium.

This match was 8-2! Although both were six-goal margins, purely from a record standpoint, 8-2 surpassed 6-0.

The first thirty-odd minutes actually weren’t great, and the final twenty-something minutes were just average. However, the end of the first half and the start of the second half were played so brilliantly. Both teams traded blows on offense and defense, but the Gunners’ attack was simply too fluid. Reversing a two-goal deficit by scoring eight unanswered goals was, by any measure, an adrenaline-pumping spectacle.

Yet, it was also incredibly bizarre. This season, the Gunners had been continuously conceding goals, repeatedly producing massive scorelines. From a 4-5 loss against Manchester United, to a 5-4 comeback over Blackburn, to a 4-3 comeback over Tottenham, followed by a 7-2 comeback against Chelsea, and now this 8-2 comeback against Tottenham. Not to mention the record-breaking 10-0 thrashing of Blackburn sandwiched in between.

Sky Sports argued that as powerful as the Gunners’ offense was, their defense was equally atrocious! And if Sky Sports was merely being polite, some busybodies didn’t hold back and went straight to bashing them.
