Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Li Muwan’s Interrogation

"If you don’t know how to talk, just shut your mouth. No one’s going to think you’re a mute."

Jiang Fan was already in a foul mood, and her passive-aggressive tone made his temper flare.

"What’s gotten into you?"

"I was just concerned about you! Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. I was just trying to be nice!"

Li Muwan refused to back down, retorting sharply.

"You call that passive-aggressive crap ’concern’?"

Jiang Fan snorted.

"A handsome man and a beautiful woman, a passionate couple... when you put dry tinder and a raging fire together, you have to be careful not to throw out your back, right?"

"Am I wrong?"

Her face was dripping with sarcasm.

"If you have something to say, just say it. Stop being so damn passive-aggressive with me."

"Or else don’t blame me for getting nasty."

Jiang Fan was furious. He felt like Li Muwan was just messing with him.

"Can’t own up to what you did?"

"If you didn’t do anything, why did Sun Yanzi have to call in for you?"

"How would she know you were still asleep?"

"Jiang Fan, just tell the truth. If you own up to it, I can at least respect you as a man."

"Acting like this just makes me lose all respect for you!"

"Get out. Get out of my office."

Jiang Fan’s words had finally gotten under her skin.

"I’ve always been a man. You want to come and find out for yourself?"

"I didn’t do anything in the first place, so what is there to ’own up to’?"

Jiang Fan rolled his eyes and stood up from the sofa.

His presence was no less imposing than hers.

"Get lost, you damn pervert!"

Li Muwan snatched the cup from her desk and threw it at him.

In truth, she didn’t even know why she was so furious.

Especially when she saw him stubbornly refusing to admit anything.

An inexplicable rage welled up inside her, making her want to just rip his mouth apart, especially when she thought about everything that had happened between them.

Without even blinking, Jiang Fan reached out and caught it.

"Are you crazy?"

"Hah. Then tell me, why weren’t you home last night?"

"And why did you have some other woman call in for you this morning?"

Li Muwan strode toward him in her high heels, stopping right in front of him. Her eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, bore into him.

"You knocked on my door?"

Jiang Fan eyed her sideways.

"I had something to do last night, some work to discuss with you. Is that not allowed?"

Her imposing demeanor immediately deflated a little at his words.

"After work is my personal time. Got it?"

"Besides, I went home yesterday. She came with me and we spent the night at the orphanage. So what? Is there a problem with that?"

"I overslept, so she called in for me. A problem?"

"And another thing, we’re just colleagues. Don’t meddle in my personal life unless you have a good reason, okay?"

He didn’t even know where all this anger was coming from.

Perhaps he had already been on the verge of an outburst, and Li Muwan’s words had just lit the fuse.

Li Muwan took two steps back and looked him up and down, still skeptical.

"The orphanage?"

"You just went back to the orphanage last night? You weren’t at a hotel?"

"That’s right, I was at a hotel."

"So what’s the point of this interrogation?"

"Why are you yelling at me? It’s not like I told you to go there!"

Jiang Fan’s harsh tone made Li Muwan’s chest tighten.

By now, she knew she had probably misjudged Jiang Fan, but she was too proud to admit it and apologize.

’Isn’t it normal for me to ask a couple of questions? Why is he being so aggressive about it?’

The thought made a wave of indignation wash over her.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

She angrily tried to wipe them away, but she couldn’t seem to get them all.

In fact, the more she wiped, the more the tears flowed.

Seeing this, the aggressive Jiang Fan was suddenly struck dumb.

All the anger in his heart vanished into thin air.

"Hey, don’t cry. I didn’t yell at you... I didn’t do anything!!"

He reached out to steady her, then pulled his hand back a second later.

Li Muwan said nothing, simply turning and sinking into the sofa.

The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt, and the more she felt wronged, the more she cried.

Finally, she gave up trying to stop them and just let the tears stream down her face, her eyes locked on Jiang Fan’s.

Her stare made Jiang Fan feel like he’d committed some unforgivable crime.

He couldn’t help but scratch his head as a headache started to set in.

In the end, he gave up on explanations and just grabbed a tissue for her.

"Um, here. Wipe your tears."

"First off, I’m sorry. My attitude was uncalled for."

"I’m just dealing with some stuff and was already in a bad mood, and then you came at me with that tone."

Jiang Fan wracked his brain for an explanation that would make her stop crying.

"So? If ’sorry’ solved everything, what would we need police for? Does an apology just wipe the slate clean?"

"I was just worried about you! Why did you have to yell at me?"

"Maybe my tone was a little off, but my intentions were good."

This gave Jiang Fan an even bigger headache.

’Damn, so you get to have it both ways? Everything’s my fault in the end, is that it?’

A thought even popped into his head. ’Is she gaslighting me right now?’

Before he could even open his mouth, Li Muwan’s tears started falling faster, like pearls from a broken string.

"Alright, alright, fine! Just tell me what I have to do to make you stop crying."

He asked, completely defeated.

"I want a coffee from Vita. I expect to see it on my desk in half an hour."

"If it’s not here, you can kiss your entire bonus goodbye."

"What???"

"This is abuse of power! Why don’t you just beat me up instead?!"

"That’s tens of thousands of dollars!!"

Jiang Fan’s head snapped up, his eyes wide as he let out a miserable wail.

But Li Muwan just turned her head away, ignoring him.

As a former delivery king, he knew for a fact that the Vita coffee shop was at least ten kilometers away from the office!

Making the round trip by car in half an hour would be nearly impossible.

"You have twenty-nine minutes left."

Utterly defeated, Jiang Fan bolted out the door without a second thought.

The moment the office door clicked shut, Li Muwan’s tears turned into a smile.

She patted her chest. "That was close. This whole ’being unreasonable’ act really works."

"I almost broke character and admitted I was wrong."

If Jiang Fan had heard that, he would have been grinding his teeth in fury.

’He knew something was off! This was just her being a goddamn unreasonable pest!!’

After wiping away her tears, Li Muwan sat back down in her boss’s chair, pulled out her phone, and started a timer.

"Hmph. Still, if I don’t teach you a little lesson, you’ll think you can just walk all over me!"
