That single sentence plunged Yin Ruxue into silence on the other end of the line.

She never imagined that the accusation she’d blurted out in anger was actually true.

"She is in the hospital, but she’s not my girlfriend. I was definitely in the wrong here."

"So I’m trying to think of a way to make things right for everyone."

Jiang Fan was holding his breath, frustrated. This wasn’t what he wanted either.

But circumstances were forcing his hand, and there was nothing he could do.

"Then you should get back to it."

She hesitated for a long time on the other end before hanging up.

Gazing at Sun Yanzi lying in the hospital bed, Jiang Fan heaved a long sigh.

After hanging up, Yin Ruxue brought Mengmeng to school.

She took out her phone and dialed Jiang Fan’s number.

"Where are you right now?"

"Me? I’m at the hospital."

Jiang Fan answered, cradling the phone between his head and shoulder while his hands were busy adjusting the height of Sun Yanzi’s hospital bed.

"I know that. I’m asking which hospital," Yin Ruxue emphasized.

"People’s Hospital. Why?"

"Wait there. I’ll be there in half an hour."

With that, she hung up.

Jiang Fan was stunned for a second.

’She’s coming here?’

"What’s wrong? Who was that?" Sun Yanzi asked, her voice slightly weak.

Jiang Fan hesitated for a moment but decided to tell her. "Yin Ruxue is coming over. She knows you’re in the hospital and wants to see you."

"Don’t let her come. The company is so busy right now; she can’t get away."

Sun Yanzi quickly shook her head to refuse, but the movement was so sharp it pulled at her wound, making her frown in pain.

"Be more careful! You’re going to tear your stitches. You can’t eat anything right now anyway, so just bear with it for a bit."

"Once enough time has passed, I’ll get you some millet porridge."

CREAK.

Just then, the door to the hospital room was unexpectedly pushed open from the outside.

Both of them looked over at the same time. Sun Yanzi was puzzled, while Jiang Fan was startled.

"Yaoyao, what are you doing here?"

That’s right, the person who had arrived was none other than Rong Anyao.

"Jiang, you’re okay? You scared me to death!"

Rong Anyao patted her ample chest, a look of lingering fear on her face.

"I’m the one who told her. I can’t come to work for a while, so naturally, I had to ask her for time off."

Hearing Sun Yanzi’s words, Jiang Fan gave a slight nod.

But Li Muwan shot him a harsh glare. "What about you? Do you not have to request time off?"

"Can you just skip work without a reason?"

"I didn’t! I just didn’t have time!" Jiang Fan hurriedly clarified.

"Right. Your mind isn’t on work at all. How could you possibly have time?"
