The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 153: Dad’s Superpower
Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Dad’s Superpower
"It’s just..."
Under Jiang Fan’s gentle prompting, Mengmeng told him the whole story.
He found it a little amusing after hearing everything, but he kept a straight face.
He never imagined the source of the conflict was just a little dress—the same limited-edition one Su Qingci had mentioned before.
Mengmeng had really loved it. Now, the very last one had been bought by someone else. That would have been fine, especially if she never knew about it.
But the child who bought it just so happened to be Mengmeng’s rival at school, and the two couldn’t stand the sight of each other.
At first, neither of them could get the upper hand, but now, her rival had found her sore spot and hit it directly.
No wonder Mengmeng was crying her eyes out.
"Alright, sweetheart, don’t cry. Do you believe that Daddy has superpowers?"
Just as he’d expected, that one sentence was enough to capture Mengmeng’s attention.
"What? What kind of superpowers?"
Mengmeng asked, furiously wiping away her tears.
"It’s just a little dress, right? How about Daddy magically makes one for you that’s even prettier than hers?"
"Really??"
"Of course. Truer than true."
Scooping Mengmeng into his arms, Jiang Fan headed for his car.
He hadn’t known at first that the dress had been designed by Junyue.
But now that he did, and considering their relationship, getting a dress like that would be a piece of cake. He could get as many as he wanted—even better ones wouldn’t be a problem!
Jiang Fan had 1,000,000% confidence in Junyue’s skills.
In fact, you could tell from Yin Ruxue’s attitude toward her that Junyue’s skills were truly formidable.
Otherwise, why would someone as proud as Yin Ruxue constantly seek to collaborate with her?
After placing Mengmeng in the back seat and making sure she was buckled in, Jiang Fan drove straight to the headquarters of Junyue’s Yufan Design Team.
He arrived upstairs, carrying Mengmeng and humming a little tune.
Junyue rushed out to greet him, only to be stunned into place by a single sentence from Mengmeng, leaving her completely at a loss.
"Daddy, this auntie is so pretty."
"This is your daughter..."
"You’re married? And you have a kid this old?"
Junyue swallowed hard and stammered.
"Yeah. I’ll explain in a bit."
"Mengmeng, say hello to Auntie Junyue."
"Hello, Auntie Junyue."
Mengmeng was on her best behavior.
"Oh, uh, hello to you too."
Junyue’s gaze darted back and forth between Mengmeng’s and Jiang Fan’s faces, searching for any trace of resemblance.
But after a long moment, she found none.
A sliver of suspicion couldn’t help but surface in her mind.
’Don’t tell me he got suckered into being a dad?’
’How could he do that? Where’s his pride as a man?’
The thought made Junyue fume internally.
"Mengmeng, guess what? That little dress was designed by someone on Auntie Junyue’s team,"
Jiang Fan said, planting a gentle kiss on Mengmeng’s cheek.
"Whoa, really? Auntie Junyue is so amazing! I wanna see, I wanna see!"
Mengmeng whined playfully, squirming in Jiang Fan’s arms.
"A little dress? What little dress?"
she asked, momentarily confused.
"Shouldn’t you let us in first? Or are we just going to stand here and chat in the doorway?"
"Right. Come on in."
Junyue stepped aside, letting Jiang Fan and Mengmeng into the studio.
Jiang Fan then set Mengmeng down.
"Did your company happen to design a Gothic Lolita dress a while back?"
"The kind that was a limited global release?"
"Yes."
Junyue nodded.
"Do you have the design sketches for it? Or maybe other kinds of dresses?"
"We do, but they’re all prototypes. They’re in the showroom in the back."
The two went back and forth.
"Could you have someone take the little one to have a look?"
"Sure. Min, could you come here for a second? Take this little girl for a tour of our showroom."
Hearing Junyue’s voice, a young woman hunched over a desk, drawing a design sketch, nodded and stood up.
"Want to come with me, little one?"
Mengmeng looked to Jiang Fan for his permission.
"Go on."
Jiang Fan said with a smile, patting her little head.
Once she got the okay, Mengmeng was visibly delighted and walked off holding Min’s hand.
Once they were out of earshot, Junyue silently grabbed Jiang Fan’s hand and pulled him into her office.
She didn’t say a word after they entered, simply staring at him in silence.
"Junyue, why are you looking at me like that? It seems like everyone enjoys staring at me lately. It’s making me a little nervous."
"I know what you want to ask, and it’s not what you think."
"I’m just doing someone a favor. The little girl has had a tough life."
Jiang Fan chose his words carefully and explained Mengmeng’s situation.
He made sure to emphasize that he was only pretending to be her father, and he explained the tragedy of how Mengmeng had lost her parents at a young age.
Upon hearing this, Junyue’s expression immediately softened.
She was an incredibly kind-hearted person by nature, and because of her own upbringing, she couldn’t stand to see others suffer.
"Well, why didn’t you just say so from the start?"
Junyue stood up in a huff and twisted Jiang Fan’s ear.
This time, she didn’t hold back.
Jiang Fan let out a yelp, rubbing his now-reddening ear.
"Hey, Junyue, what was that for! I already explained everything, so why are you still twisting my ear?"
He couldn’t help but cry foul.
"Twisting your ear is letting you off easy!"
With that, Junyue turned to leave the office.
"Wait, Junyue, are you angry? You’re not usually this petty."
"My bad."
"Where are you going?"
Jiang Fan reached out to stop her.
"I’m going to pick out a couple of nice dresses for the child. The poor thing has been through enough."
"Besides, since you’re so fond of the little one, I can’t be stingy, can I?"
With that, Junyue hurried to the showroom, where Mengmeng was leaning over a display case, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
"This one is so pretty, Auntie Min."
"When are you going to start selling these? Mengmeng wants to buy one too."
"Do you like it? If you do, we can take it out for you to try on."
Min was about to reply when Junyue’s voice came from behind them.
"Jun, this is a prototype we just made. It’s a new, unreleased design. If word gets out..."
"It’s even better that it hasn’t been released. Doesn’t that make it more special? The only one of its kind in the world."
Junyue knelt in front of Mengmeng and gently stroked her hair.
"Which other ones do you like, little one?"
"You can pick any one you like."
