"Now that you’ve been honest, it might hurt a bit, but a short pain is better than a long one."

Jiang Fan’s voice was gentle, yet it carried a reassuring strength.

Jun Yue slowly raised her head and looked at him. "I know you’re right about all that, but I just feel..."

Jiang Fan shook his head. "Are you busy today?"

"Not really. Why do you ask?"

"Then let’s go. I’m taking you out."

Jiang Fan grabbed her hand and led her downstairs.

The other employees in the office watched their departing figures, their minds immediately flashing back to Tie Lin’s dejected state from earlier.

Their imaginations were already running wild, concocting a grand drama of love and betrayal.

Some felt it was a shame about Tie Lin and Jun Yue, while others were curious about the true nature of Jiang Fan and Jun Yue’s relationship.

Several of the men simply gave Jiang Fan’s retreating back a look of utmost respect.

"Get in."

Jiang Fan pulled open the passenger door and ushered Jun Yue inside.

"What are you doing?"

she asked, confused.

"Taking you somewhere to unwind."

"It’s so early. Where could we possibly go to unwind at this hour?"

Jun Yue glanced at the time. It was only about 10:00 AM.

"You’ll see when we get there."

Jiang Fan hit the gas and sped toward their destination.

Only when they arrived did Jun Yue realize where they were: Yang City’s largest amusement park.

Even though it was only 10:00 AM, a large crowd was already lined up outside.

It was mostly children and young couples.

After they got out of the car, Jiang Fan pulled her straight to the ticket booth, quickly bought two tickets, and then led her to the entrance.

"I remember when we were little, you always told me you wanted to go to an amusement park. We couldn’t afford it back then, but I told you I’d definitely take you when we grew up."

"We didn’t have the chance or the means before, but we do now."

As he spoke, the amusement park opened its gates, and all the rides began to operate.

"You remember something from that long ago?"

Dusty memories slowly began to surface in Jun Yue’s mind.

"Of course."

"You like thrills, don’t you? Let’s go straight for the roller coaster!"

Jiang Fan pulled her into a light jog, dashing to the very front of the crowd.

"Slow down!"

A warmth spread through Jun Yue’s heart, washing away everything that had just happened.

’Being truly cared for and remembered by someone—that has to be one of the happiest feelings in the world.’

Next came the roller coaster, the pirate ship, the Ferris wheel... the pendulum ride, the drop tower...

Jiang Fan took her on every single ride.

In the end, even that wasn’t enough for them, so they made their way over to the bungee jumping platform.

Terrified screams filled the air, and the crowd of spectators watched the drama unfold, their eyes glued to the people dangling from ropes in midair.

"That’s hilarious. They’re clearly scared to death but insist on doing it anyway."

"A minute ago, some guy was trying to act all tough and show off how cool he was. He took one look down and passed out cold."

"I saw that! His girlfriend was right there next to him. She was so embarrassed her face turned beet red."

"This bungee jump is seriously terrifying, though. It’s over 400 meters high."

"Hey man, I gotta ask, when do they change the bungee cord?"

"When it breaks. Trust me."

"I’m telling you, this cord has to be top-notch. It’s never gotten a single bad review. Go check if you don’t believe me."

"Duh! Anyone who would’ve left a bad review has already gone to report to King Yama!"

"Oh, look, another young couple is going up."

The crowd below pointed at Jiang Fan and Jun Yue.

"Are you ready?"

Jiang Fan asked with a smile, looking at Jun Yue.

"Let’s do it. This is nothing to me."

"Alright, alright. Whoever screams is a chicken."

"Are you two ready?"

the staff member beside them asked.

"Let’s do it."

"Let’s go!"

The two of them locked eyes and, without a moment’s hesitation, took the leap.

"WOOHOO~~"

Jiang Fan yelled at the top of his lungs.

Jun Yue, for her part, didn’t make a single sound, but you could tell she was thrilled.

The crowd below was left completely dumbfounded.

"What did I just hear?"

"I think I heard a dragon roar..."

"WOOHOO!!"

"Is this guy for real? He’s got some serious guts."

"Forget being scared, you’ve got to at least show a little respect for the act of bungee jumping!"

After the bungee jump, the two of them returned to the platform, their expressions completely unchanged. They had even waved from the bottom of the drop.

"In light of your courageous performance just now, we’ve prepared a special little gift for you two."

"Would you like to have your picture taken together?"

The staff member was also a bit surprised. After all, in his two or three years of working here, he had never seen anyone so badass.

"Come in, come in. The food is ready."

"Little Yue’Er, you’ve gotten so thin these past few days!"

Director Grandma came out from the backyard, beaming at the sight of the two of them.

She took each of them by the hand and led them to the dining room.

The dining room table was already laden with dishes. Although they were simple home-cooked meals, they included Jiang Fan’s favorite braised pork belly with preserved greens, and Jun Yue’s favorites: stir-fried tomato and egg, and hot and sour potato slivers.

"Jun, no matter what happens or when, this place will always be a safe harbor for you."

"So whatever you’re going through, we can face it together."

"But, uh, can you save the tears and emotional moments for later? I’m about to start drooling here."

Jiang Fan said, his mouth watering as he stared at the food on the table.

His words made her laugh through her tears.

"Eat, eat, eat! Just eat already."

Jun Yue wiped away a tear and gave Jiang Fan a sharp pinch on his waist.
