The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 17: You’re Still Pretending
Chapter 17: Chapter 17: You’re Still Pretending
He was still holding an order list.
On it were all the breakfast items his female colleagues had asked him to bring for them the next morning.
Jiang Fan didn’t mind bringing some breakfast, but he felt these women were a little too ruthless.
’Oh well, I’ll just consider it an investment in good colleague relations.’
When he got to the elevator, a woman in a security guard uniform was also waiting there.
Jiang Fan thought nothing of it, pressed the button for the first floor, and stepped inside.
The woman in the security uniform followed him in.
Jiang Fan noticed the woman’s ID badge; it looked a lot more high-ranking than those of the two guards at the main entrance.
Clearly, this woman was someone of note.
’But no matter how important she is, it’s quitting time. When you gotta go, you gotta go.’
Su Qingci’s gaze was fixed on Jiang Fan, sizing him up.
’How did Jiang Fan get Yin Ruxue to make an exception and hire him?’
’For a position as important as sales, no less?’
"You’re new?" Su Qingci asked.
"Yeah." Jiang Fan replied with a single word.
Su Qingci decided to put him on the spot.
"Seeing as you’re the only man in the company, I feel it’s necessary to go over our rules with you."
"We don’t permit any harassment of our female colleagues."
Su Qingci was preparing to list off all the various rules and regulations.
She wanted to put this newcomer in his place and intimidate the man who had suddenly appeared in their ranks.
However, to her surprise, before she could even get to the next rule, Jiang Fan had already begun reciting the company’s various regulations.
"Your rule about not harassing female colleagues is Article Twelve of the company regulations."
"The first article is no eating instant noodles in the office. Violation incurs a two-hundred-yuan fine."
"Article Two: Do not bring family disputes into the company. Depending on the severity, the penalty is a fine or termination."
"Article Three: As an employee of Xuerong International, one is not permitted to slander the company or spread negative rumors. Any such discovery will result in immediate termination."
....
Somehow, in just a short amount of time, Jiang Fan had managed to recite the company’s entire code of conduct from memory.
Su Qingci had assumed the new guy wouldn’t even know the most basic regulations and would inevitably argue with her.
Then she’d have an excuse to "invite" him to the security office for a "chat."
But Jiang Fan was far too familiar with the company’s code of conduct; she couldn’t find a single opening.
If he weren’t standing right in front of her, she would have thought he was reading it from a manual.
What Su Qingci didn’t know was that after joining the company, Jiang Fan had spent a whole afternoon reading the regulations to make sure his fifteen-thousand-yuan salary didn’t get docked.
With his current memory, memorizing all this was child’s play.
The elevator doors opened.
Su Qingci coughed twice. "Fine, you pass on the regulations."
Jiang Fan had a feeling this woman was up to no good, but he couldn’t put his finger on why.
Su Qingci continued, "As you know, the guards in our Security Department are all women."
"When an incident occurs, our people are always the ones on the front line."
"Right. You all work hard," Jiang Fan replied casually as he stepped out of the elevator.
Su Qingci continued, "Now that you’re here, you’re the company’s only man. I hope that from now on, whenever something happens, you’ll be the first to charge to the front line to relieve some of the pressure on our sisters—I mean, our security personnel."
"What?" Jiang Fan was stunned. ’Did I hear her right? I was hired for sales.’
’And she wants me to be on the front line for the Security Department?’
Su Qingci started dangling a carrot. "Don’t worry, we won’t treat you unfairly."
"I’ll apply to President Xue to get you an extra two thousand yuan a month."
"How does that sound?"
’Damn, this woman is bad news.’
Jiang Fan shook his head and turned to leave.
"Hey, wait up!"
"The pay is negotiable!" ’If I can just get Jiang Fan into the Security Department, I’ll have plenty of ways to deal with him.’
She reached out, placing a hand on Jiang Fan’s shoulder to stop him. But the instant she made contact, she felt a jolt, as if from an electric shock. Her body was thrown back, and she landed hard on the floor.
’My butt hurts so much.’
’Is this... Inner Strength?!’
’This damned man... he’s actually a master?!’
Su Qingci was aghast.
’This man is too suspicious.’
Hearing the noise, Jiang Fan turned back, confused. "Su, why are you sitting on the floor?"
Her name, Su Qingci, was on the ID badge on her chest. To foster a good relationship with his colleague, Jiang Fan had addressed her as Su.
Su Qingci gritted her teeth. "Don’t you know what you just did?"
"And you still have the nerve to ask why I’m on the floor."
"What did I do?" Jiang Fan looked completely innocent.
He had felt a momentary tingling sensation on his shoulder, but it vanished in a flash. He genuinely had no idea what had just happened.
’Damn it, this pretty boy is still playing dumb.’
Muttering resentfully, Su Qingci got up from the floor and asked cautiously, "Jiang Fan, what kind of martial art do you practice?"
Jiang Fan was even more baffled. He reached out and touched Su Qingci’s forehead. "Su, you don’t have a fever, do you?"
"Maybe you should go see a doctor."
"See a doctor, my ass!"
"Get your grubby hands off me."
She punctuated the remark by stomping on Jiang Fan’s foot.
Jiang Fan was speechless. ’What the hell? This is completely out of nowhere. It makes no sense.’
’Forget it. Everyone in this building is weird. The people in the sales department are weird, the supervisor’s weird, the manager’s weird, and now this security guard is the weirdest of them all.’
’This is giving me the creeps. Time to go, go, go.’
As Jiang Fan walked away, a cold glint flashed in Su Qingci’s eyes. A moment ago, when she’d stomped on his foot, she surprisingly hadn’t been sent flying by that force.
This made her begin to doubt whether Jiang Fan was truly a master after all.
’No matter how you hide it, you can’t conceal the fact that you’re extraordinarily skilled. You’d better not give me any reason to believe you’re up to no good, or not even the gods will be able to save you.’
Su Qingci’s fists clenched. The next second, she was gently rubbing her sore backside. ’Damn it. This means war.’
Jiang Fan drove the Maybach out of the Xuerong International building.
You had to admit, the expensive car was worth every penny. The rose-colored interior, the ultra-high-fidelity sound system, the genuine leather seats, the massive amount of space, and it even came with an electric massage function.
Jiang Fan felt like his tastes had leveled up, giving him the air of the newly rich.
Jiang Fan stopped at a red light, waiting for it to change.
A delivery guy on a scooter zipped up from behind.
He was going eighty miles an hour. The bike was clearly modified for higher speeds to complete more deliveries.
While flying along, the delivery guy was also sending a voice message to a customer.
"No one has ever starved to death on my watch."
"Never."
But his path was blocked by the red light.
"Damn it! A whole minute for the red light at this intersection."
"Damn it."
"Almost couldn’t brake in time and crashed into that Maybach."
The voice sounded familiar to Jiang Fan, as did the way the man lit his cigarette. He leaned his head out the window to get a look, and a joyful expression immediately spread across his face. "Wu!"
