Chapter 205: Chapter 205: The Planning Department Has to Do This Too?

"I’ll do my best. To be honest, most of my past successes were just flukes."

"I’ve never thought of myself as capable enough for this position, or able to organize something this big."

"My shoulders aren’t broad enough to carry such a heavy burden."

"But since you’ve put it like that, I’ll give it my all. If it still doesn’t work out, don’t blame me."

Jiang Fan’s tone was soft, but his words were firm.

"Don’t worry. If it really comes to that, and Xuerong ends up collapsing, then that’s just our fate."

"It’s just... Mengmeng will be the one to suffer."

At this, Yin Ruxue sighed, closed her eyes, and fell silent.

Jiang Fan could feel the immense pressure she was under.

The night passed in the blink of an eye. After taking Mengmeng to breakfast as usual, Jiang Fan dropped her off at school.

Then he rushed to the office.

He hadn’t even reached the office yet when he saw Su Qingci in the distance, standing there as if she had been waiting for him.

The sight gave Jiang Fan a massive headache.

He immediately called Yin Ruxue.

"Is that Su Qingci woman crazy? Did you say something to provoke her, or what?"

"It feels like she’s latched onto me now."

"That’s impossible. About that other incident, I only said a few words to her. I know she means well."

"She wouldn’t hold a grudge against you just because I criticized her a little."

"Then what is she doing here now? This is the second day in a row."

Jiang Fan sounded agitated.

"I don’t know. Why don’t you ask her?"

’Time to face the music.’

After paying the fare and getting out of the taxi, Jiang Fan walked straight up to her. "Spit it out. What is it you want?"

"If you’re here to apologize, I accept. If you refuse to apologize because you think you’re right, then get lost."

Jiang Fan’s tone was ice-cold, filled with impatience.

"You’re just an employee of Xuerong. But Xue is the chairman of Xuerong."

"As you are now, you’re not worthy of her. You need to stay away from her."

Su Qingci didn’t look down or show the slightest hint of embarrassment as she spoke. Instead, she stared intently into Jiang Fan’s eyes.

"You’re right about everything. I’m not worthy of her. I’ll resign in a little while."

"Is that good enough for you? Are you satisfied now?"

"I’m telling you for the last time, stop bothering me. We’re not close."

Having exhausted all his patience, Jiang Fan turned and walked away.

"Are you sure we’re not close?"

Su Qingci shouted.

"Positive!"

Jiang Fan shot back just as loudly, not even turning his head.

After arriving at the office, he briefly assigned tasks to the planning department staff, sending some to do market research and others to compile product statistics.

Everything was in preparation for the National Day event.

Only Jiang Fan sat there, reading voraciously. Aside from necessary trips for water or to the restroom, he didn’t move an inch.

’He knew all too well what he was lacking. Now that I finally have a chance to catch up, I have to seize it!’

Time flew by. Just before the end of the workday, Li Muwan walked into his office.

She closed the door and said to Jiang Fan:

"Go liaise with the Yufan Design Team about the new product. We need to get three sets of blueprints from them."

"Right now, they’ve only roughed out a general scope for the blueprints. You must make sure we get the three best sets."

"Huh? Are you crazy? What does that have to do with me?"

"Surely this isn’t the planning department’s responsibility too?"

"No."

Li Muwan shook her head. "The planning department doesn’t have to handle it, but *you* have to go."

"I’m not going. I’m busy. I have to study every day, I don’t have time."

He refused immediately, shaking his head.

He knew Jun Yue, but this was about a contract between the Yufan Design Team and Xuerong Group.

’Where would I even fit into that picture?’

’And I’m supposed to secure the three *best* sets of blueprints, no less.’

’Why not just ask me to move their entire team over here while I’m at it??’

He was complaining wildly in his head, but his face remained impassive as he lowered his gaze back to his book.

"Bring them back and you’ll get 2,000. A 2,000 cash bonus, paid immediately."

"I am a man of principle, uncorrupted by riches, unbent by power! A mere 2,000..."

"Three thousand!"

Li Muwan named a price Jiang Fan couldn’t refuse.

"I have to say, Manager Li, you’re a sharp judge of character."

"Hmph. Not just a scumbag, but a penny-pincher too."

Li Muwan snorted, then turned and walked away.

"I want to see them by tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I’m docking one month of your salary and two months of your bonus."

Jiang Fan was instantly indignant.

"On what grounds?!"

"Since when do you get a say? My rules are the rules."

Li Muwan didn’t bother explaining any further.

She left Jiang Fan sitting behind his desk, completely flustered.

’These crazy women!’

After a moment’s thought, Jiang Fan called Jun Yue from Yuefan.

"I’m calling on behalf of Xuerong Group. About those three product samples, are the drafts ready?"

Jiang Fan asked, his tone all business and very serious.

"Who are you trying to fool with that act? You’re the one asking me for a favor, aren’t you? The designs are ready. Find some time to come pick them up."

Jun Yue was just as blunt with Jiang Fan.

"Can you get someone to deliver them to me? I’m swamped over here and can’t get away."

"Call me ’Sis’!"

Jun Yue said haughtily.

"Sis! Big Sis Jun! Big Sis Yue!"

Jiang Fan blurted it out without a shred of hesitation.

"Alright, just wait. I’ll have someone deliver them to your office. Keep an eye on your phone."

"Also, when you have a moment, take Qian’Er out and ask her what’s been going on at the orphanage lately."

"A friend of mine told me things aren’t going so well at the orphanage."

"’Not going so well?’"

"Okay, I understand. It’s probably nothing serious. I told her to call me if anything comes up."

"That girl has never lied to me, not once since she was a kid. She wouldn’t hide things from me."

Jiang Fan had complete faith in Li Qian’Er.

"Okay! Let’s leave it at that. I’m busy on my end."

The two exchanged a few more words before hastily hanging up.

An hour later, a courier delivered the package to Jiang Fan. He took it and slammed it down in front of Li Muwan.

"The best of the best! See for yourself. Want me to stamp a logo on it for you?"

"No need. I trust them. You can go to finance and get your bonus signed off."

Glancing at the bonus slip, Jiang Fan rubbed his hands together with glee.

Three thousand yuan for an hour’s work!

It felt like he’d just robbed a bank.

"Oh, right. Your planning department needs to remember to liaise with the material suppliers for the event."

"Don’t let them feel like we’re just going to use them and ghost them."

"Are you kidding me? What’s going on? The planning department has to do this too? Shouldn’t logistics be handling this?"
