The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 217: Here’s 2 Million for You
Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Here’s 2 Million for You
"Well... I just happened to run into them."
"I was visiting the area and wanted to try that restaurant. I saw Wan and her mother from afar, so I came over to say hello."
"Oh? Is that right? Chenel is a world away from Yang City, and you just happened to be visiting?"
"What a coincidence."
Anyone could read between the lines, but Liu Yuning acted as if he didn’t get it at all, a wide grin plastered on his face. "Exactly! Who can really explain something like fate? It’s just like me and Wan."
"Let me say this one last time: it is never going to happen between us."
"I already have a boyfriend. Don’t make me say something harsh. It’ll be embarrassing for both of our families."
Li Muwan’s voice was calm, but Jiang Fan, who knew her well, recognized it as the quiet before a volcano erupts.
"Boyfriend? You can’t be talking about this guy, can you?"
"That’s right. Allow me to introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Jiang Fan. And this is Liu Yuning, the young master of the Liu Family."
"An acquaintance of mine, you could say."
"’You could say?’"
From Liu Yuning’s tone, Jiang Fan could tell the two of them weren’t on good terms at all.
Besides, there was something about the man’s eyes that he really disliked.
His eyes hadn’t stopped roving since he arrived. He wasn’t just sizing up Li Muwan; his gaze would follow any remotely attractive girl who walked past.
And though he tried to be subtle about it, Jiang Fan noticed his gaze even lingering on Zhou Jing.
"Hey, I’m Liu Yuning. Stop the act, buddy."
"I know she doesn’t have a boyfriend. Just go back to wherever you came from, and I’ll give you some money for your trouble."
"Putting on an act must be exhausting."
After speaking, he patted Jiang Fan’s shoulder, his expression a mixture of pity and superiority.
He even tried to reach out and pat Jiang Fan’s cheek.
But Jiang Fan sidestepped him. "Keep your hands to yourself. I don’t know you, and I have a bit of a hair-trigger reflex."
"So if my hand suddenly connects with your face, don’t blame me," Jiang Fan said, his tone casual.
He then slung an arm around Li Muwan’s shoulders. "Where did this jackass come from? Can you make him scram? You shouldn’t be friends with people like this; it’s beneath you."
"Okay, I’ll listen to my husband."
Liu Yuning heard every word loud and clear.
This was a blatant slap in the face. It was like they were grinding his face into the dirt.
"You... I’m warning you, watch your mouth."
"There are some people you can’t afford to offend."
Liu Yuning’s expression darkened, his eyes full of menace.
"Hm?"
"Threatening me?"
Jiang Fan’s expression flickered.
But before he could react, Li Jiaxiang stepped in front of Jiang Fan and Li Muwan. "Boy from the Liu Family, what do you think you’re doing? You dare threaten my daughter?"
"Gotten used to throwing your weight around all these years, have you? Why don’t you go get that old man of yours? Let’s see if he’ll say that to my face."
"Better yet, ask him if he’d even dare say it to my face."
In that moment, Li Jiaxiang radiated the aura of a man in power.
His every word, his every move, was utterly commanding.
Even Jiang Fan, standing behind him, felt diminished by his presence, let alone Liu Yuning, who stood before him looking utterly stunned.
After a long moment, he finally spoke, his voice full of grievance. "Mr. Li, how can you think that of me? I didn’t mean anything by it."
"You know how I feel about Wan. I was just upset that she suddenly found a boyfriend, and I misspoke."
"Please, be the bigger man and don’t hold it against someone like me."
Hearing this, Li Jiaxiang gave a cold snort and didn’t say anything further.
A man of his stature couldn’t be seen bullying a junior, after all.
If word got out, it would become a joke, and the Li Family would lose face.
"Alright, if there’s nothing else, you can leave. Don’t disturb our family of four while we’re out."
Li Muwan waved her hand dismissively, as if shooing away a particularly annoying fly.
"Alright, alright, I’m leaving. But first, could I have a private word with this guy?"
As he spoke, he looked to Jiang Fan for his consent.
"I imagine that as a fellow man, and a fellow suitor for Wan’s affection, you won’t refuse."
His words immediately put Jiang Fan on the spot.
"He is my boyfriend, not a suitor."
"It’s fine. I’ll go with him. I’m curious to see what he’s planning."
"Consider it me taking care of this problem for you once and for all," Jiang Fan whispered in her ear.
The sight of their intimacy—whispering ear to ear—ignited a spark of fury deep in Liu Yuning’s eyes.
He had always considered Li Muwan his private property. Now, seeing her so close with another man, he felt as if the cuckold’s hat on his head was glowing for all the world to see.
After shooting him an indifferent glance, Jiang Fan led the way out of the shop.
Liu Yuning followed close behind.
The two of them made their way to a spot behind a nearby emergency stairwell.
Liu Yuning wasted no time, pulling a check from his pocket. "Here’s three million. Get lost, and stay away from her."
"She’s not for someone like you."
Jiang Fan raised an eyebrow. He’d thought there was going to be an ambush and had already braced himself.
He hadn’t expected a simple bribe.
"Three million? Are you insulting me, or are you insulting Li Muwan?" Jiang Fan said coolly, taking the check.
"Greedy bastard. But it doesn’t matter. Money is the one thing my family has plenty of."
"I’ll add another two million. Just disappear and never show your face again."
Liu Yuning was completely unfazed, as if there was no difference to him between three million and five million.
"Tsk. So this is what a rich young master is like?"
"But I’m afraid your money can’t buy my love. Besides, it’s not like I don’t have this kind of chump change myself."
"Now, get lost."
He casually tore the check to shreds, tossed the pieces in Liu Yuning’s face, and turned to leave.
’So satisfying.’
As he watched Jiang Fan walk away, Liu Yuning’s eyes glinted with malice.
He had never been a magnanimous person, much less the kind to repay grievances with virtue.
’No matter what, the Li Family would be his!’
