"Alright, go get some rest. Save up your energy. When the time comes, I’ll need you to lead the charge for me."
Jun Yue reached out and patted Jiang Fan’s shoulder, her tone more serious than ever.
Jiang Fan could clearly see the fiery determination burning in Jun Yue’s eyes.
"Okay."
This time, Jiang Fan agreed without a moment’s hesitation.
He’d been up all night and was utterly exhausted. The moment he returned to his room and closed his eyes, he fell into a deep sleep.
"Jun, are you confident about this? Also... I put all the orphanage’s money in the bank. I deposited it in separate fixed-term accounts to get the interest, so I’m afraid I can’t withdraw that much for you all at once..."
Li Qian’Er hadn’t dared to bring it up while Jiang Fan was there. She felt he was already under enough stress and didn’t want to add to his burden.
"How much did you deposit, and for how long?"
Jun Yue was a little curious. She knew Jiang Fan had donated a large sum to the orphanage, but she had never asked for the details.
"It’s not that much... but it’s for a seven-year term..."
Li Qian’Er looked a little embarrassed. Despite her physical skills, she had no talent for business or financial management, so she could only resort to the simplest method: putting the money in the bank to collect interest.
"Don’t worry, leave all of this to me. You don’t need to concern yourself with it."
Jun Yue said with a magnanimous wave of her hand.
"Jun, but this will require a lot of money, won’t it?"
Li Qian’Er asked curiously.
"Don’t worry, I have some savings from over the years. It should be enough. If not, I’ll figure something out. You just focus on taking care of the children. And it’s about time you agreed to what I mentioned before, right? You can’t possibly handle all this on your own now. Juggling Grandma and all these kids... you’re spread too thin. You might end up not being able to properly care for either."
"Well... right now..."
"Okay."
After a brief hesitation, Li Qian’Er nodded in agreement.
A long time ago, Jun Yue had suggested to the director and Li Qian’Er that with more and more children, they should hire two helpers to assist with cooking and to look after them, so they wouldn’t be so exhausted.
But the two of them were used to being frugal and couldn’t bear the expense, so they had refused outright.
Jun Yue had brought it up many times since, but the director had never agreed.
But under the current circumstances, Li Qian’Er truly couldn’t handle everything on her own.
"Good. I’ll make a call and have someone come over. I’ve hand-picked them myself, so don’t you worry."
"Let me help you out for a bit. The little ones should be waking up soon."
As the two women were talking, Jiang Fan felt like he had barely slept before being jolted awake by his phone. The incessant ringing grated on his nerves.
"Who is it?"
Jiang Fan answered, his tone curt.
"Someone’s cranky in the morning. Is this why you’re skipping work? And you dare to take it out on me? That’s a five-hundred fine!"
A teasing voice came from the other end of the line.
The voice jolted Jiang Fan fully awake. "I wouldn’t dare! I requested time off! Don’t fine me!"
"And who did you request this time off from?"
Li Muwan asked leisurely.
"From President Yin!"
Jiang Fan lied through his teeth.
"President Yin, he says he cleared his absence with you."
"Oh? Is that so?"
Yin Ruxue’s voice was tinged with amusement.
"COUGH! COUGH! COUGH!"
Jiang Fan nearly choked on his own spit.
’How could those two be together?’ he wailed internally.
"Um... I must have misremembered. I asked Yanzi to let you know. Did she not mention it?"
"Yanzi, is that what happened?"
Li Muwan asked coolly.
"Nope."
Jiang Fan was left speechless. ’Good grief, so all three of them are together, huh.’
"I worked late last night, so it’s understandable that I’m late today, right?"
He tried one last time to salvage the situation.
"Forget it, I’ll stop teasing you. But you didn’t come home, you didn’t call in, and you weren’t answering your messages. I was just calling to see if you were still alive."
"Since you’re alive, you can get lost. Take the day off, just don’t let the proposal fall behind schedule."
With that, Li Muwan hung up. The three women standing by the window exchanged a smile.
Listening to the dial tone, Jiang Fan was completely baffled. ’What are those three up to?’
"You’re awake? Good. Get up and come with me. I’ve set up the meeting."
Just then, Jun Yue happened to push the door open and come in.
"Okay. Where’s the meeting? Do you need me to drive?"
Jiang Fan put his phone away and climbed out of bed.
"I’ll drive. Hurry up and get ready."
When he got in the car, he found that Jun Yue had already prepared breakfast for him.
"Here, eat."
She tossed it to him as the car sped away.
About half an hour later, after a series of twists and turns, the car arrived in a rather run-down area.
The building at its center, however, still showed signs of its former glory.
After she parked, Jun Yue and Jiang Fan got out of the car.
"Is this the school?"
Jiang Fan asked, turning his head.
"That’s right. Let’s go."
Just as the two of them reached the school gate, an elderly man came hurrying over.
"Miss Jun?"
"My name is Lin Shu. We spoke on the phone earlier."
Jiang Fan noticed that although Lin Shu was smiling, the smile seemed somewhat forced.
"Principal Lin, I believe I made my intentions clear on the phone."
"Let’s not beat around the bush. How much do you want for it?"
Jun Yue asked bluntly, getting straight to the point.
"Why don’t you two come in and take a look first? All our accreditation is in order, and while the facilities are a bit old, they’re all definitely still functional."
Lin Shu said with an ingratiating look on his face.
Jiang Fan’s brow furrowed slightly, but he remained silent, leaving everything to Jun Yue.
"Then let’s take a look inside."
At this, Jun Yue seemed to shed any trace of her earlier anxiety, resuming her powerful, professional demeanor.
The three of them stepped onto the school grounds.
Once inside, Jiang Fan realized that while the school didn’t look large from the outside, it had everything it needed.
There was a classroom building, a cafeteria, a library, and even a soccer field and basketball court on the athletic grounds.
The farther they walked, the more Jiang Fan felt something was off. There was even an indoor badminton hall. ’How could a place like this be going out of business?’
That’s right—he could see this school was on the brink of bankruptcy.
And he also understood what Jun Yue was planning.
’But he just couldn’t figure it out.’
However, the sight of Jun Yue’s calm and composed expression made him hold back all his questions.
"Miss Jun, we’ve seen the school now. Do you have any other questions?"
Lin Shu said, choosing his words carefully.
"No other questions. Now, we need to talk about the price."
