The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 294: The Angry Li Muwan
“Whoa, Qiang, I’m not living off some sugar mama!” Jiang Fan said quickly.
“You’ve got a bona fide rich woman right there with you, not to mention the one in the villa district!”
“Alright, Qiang, that’s enough. Let’s play!” Jiang Fan said, glancing awkwardly at Rong Anyao.
Wu Qiang just chuckled and didn’t press the issue.
They played a few more rounds. With Wu Qiang and Rong Anyao carrying them on their smurf accounts, the three of them played over ten matches together in the blink of an eye, and they didn’t lose a single one.
Jiang Fan glanced at the time. It was already seven in the evening.
After playing games all afternoon, Rong Anyao seemed to be in much better spirits.
“Qiang, let’s call it a day. That’s enough for now.”
Jiang Fan saw that after an afternoon of getting carried, he had already reached the rank of Strongest King.
“Alright, let’s play again next time! Yao, add me. We can queue together next time.”
After exiting the game, Jiang Fan felt his stomach rumbling. He opened a food delivery app and ordered some takeout.
The food arrived quickly. By the time he and Rong Anyao finished eating, it was already past eight o’clock.
“Yaoyao, I should probably get going. I have to work tomorrow.”
Rong Anyao seemed to want to say something more, but after a moment’s hesitation, she nodded, not trying to make him stay.
After all, Jiang Fan had already spent the whole afternoon with her.
“Yaoyao, get some good rest tonight. Don’t worry about streaming,” Jiang Fan added before he left.
Watching his retreating figure, Rong Anyao felt a wave of emotion. ‘Even though I was in danger today… it would be nice to have more chances like this…’
「By the time he got home, it was already past nine at night.」
Jiang Fan had messaged Sun Yanzi in advance, so she hadn’t waited for him for dinner.
“Li Muwan called you many times today. Did you not see them?” Sun Yanzi asked suddenly when she saw Jiang Fan return.
“Ah…”
“She just came by and knocked on the door a little while ago. I think she said she’d called you a bunch of times. In any case, she didn’t look very happy.”
Only then did Jiang Fan remember that he had put his phone on Do Not Disturb while he was gaming, so he wouldn’t have seen any calls.
He pulled out his phone for a look and was shocked. Li Muwan had called him over a dozen times. It looked like she’d been phone-bombing him.
“What’s wrong? Did the event not go well?” Jiang Fan asked.
If he remembered correctly, today was supposed to be the first day of the event, marking the beginning of the clash between Xuerong International and Fengming Group.
“Today was just a test run, and it went really well. The response from all the stores was great.”
“That’s good. Then why was Li Muwan looking for me?”
“You’ll have to ask her that,” Sun Yanzi said with a hint of resignation.
Jiang Fan glanced at the time, then called Li Muwan back.
“Hello, Wan’Er!”
“Don’t call me Wan’Er, Jiang Fan. So you finally decided to grace me with a call? Why don’t you take a look at how many times I had to call you today?”
Getting an earful from Li Muwan like this, Jiang Fan was utterly bewildered.
But on second thought, it made sense. He hadn’t replied to a single one of her messages all afternoon. No wonder she was furious.
“I’m sorry, Manager Li. I really did run into an emergency today, so I couldn’t answer the phone…”
“Save it. I don’t want to hear it. Come to my office tomorrow morning as soon as you get in. Remember, work starts at nine, so be there on the dot. Don’t be late!”
After saying her piece, Li Muwan hung up.
A nameless anger flared up inside Jiang Fan. He hadn’t even been at work today, and it was Li Muwan herself who had given him the day off.
Besides, Li Muwan knew perfectly well that he had left earlier because of an emergency.
Yet now she was calling him, completely ignoring the facts and just laying into him.
‘Why did he feel like he was her Zhong Wuyan in a crisis, but her Xia Yingchun in times of peace?’
“What’s wrong?” Sun Yanzi asked, seeing the dark expression on Jiang Fan’s face.
“It’s nothing. She’s probably lost her mind!”
After speaking, Jiang Fan went to the bathroom and took a cold shower, but that nameless anger simmered within him all night.
Early the next morning, when he and Sun Yanzi arrived at the company, Jiang Fan felt that the atmosphere was a little off.
“Jiang, President Yin wants you in her office!”
He had just reached his desk and hadn’t even sat down when Yu Xiaoyu sidled up to him.
Jiang Fan was speechless. ‘Why are both Yin Ruxue and Li Muwan looking for me?’
Then, Yu Xiaoyu suddenly added, “Manager Li seems to be in there too. And it looks like someone else showed up first thing this morning. Both President Yin and Manager Li look really upset. Did you get into some kind of trouble?”
“Trouble?” Jiang Fan said. “Of course not!”
Yu Xiaoyu nodded and tactfully excused herself. She could sense that something big and unpleasant was about to happen.
Jiang Fan didn’t overthink it and headed for Yin Ruxue’s office.
He knocked lightly on the door, and Yin Ruxue’s voice immediately came from inside.
“Come in!”
Jiang Fan entered the office. Yin Ruxue and Li Muwan were seated on the sofa. Across from them sat a man in a sharp suit who looked to be in his forties or fifties, his face stern and imposing.
Behind the man stood four other men who looked like bodyguards.
At that moment, the expressions on both Yin Ruxue’s and Li Muwan’s faces were extremely grim.
The man opposite them, however, looked perfectly composed, a cold smile playing on his lips that didn’t reach his eyes.
“President Yin, Manager Li, should I… come back later?” Jiang Fan asked tentatively.
“You must be Jiang Fan, right?”
But just then, the middle-aged man spoke first.
Jiang Fan frowned, but Yin Ruxue and Li Muwan gestured for him to come closer.
Jiang Fan walked toward them.
“And you are?”
The man’s gaze was sharp as a knife as he looked at Jiang Fan.
“Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Liujiang River.”
Upon hearing the name, Jiang Fan’s brow immediately furrowed.
‘The Liu Family of Chenel!’
Liujiang River stared at Jiang Fan, his gaze piercing.
“You’re the one who injured my son yesterday?”
“You mean that creep?” Jiang Fan said. “Yesterday, some guy with ulterior motives tried to harass my friend, so I taught him a lesson.”
“A lesson? Who the hell do you think you are?”
Liujiang River shot to his feet. “You’ve got some nerve. You actually dared to cripple my son’s arm and leg? To think someone in Yang City would dare to lay a hand on one of the Liu Family!”
As Liujiang River spoke, the bodyguards behind him tensed, their faces grim and eager for a fight.
“President Liu, I think… there might be some kind of misunderstanding here?” Yin Ruxue suddenly interjected, her expression pained.
“Misunderstanding? What misunderstanding? Is the fact that he injured my son a misunderstanding?”
“With a son like yours, even if I hadn’t taught him a lesson, someone else would have!”
“That’s enough, Jiang Fan! Can’t you just keep quiet? President Liu is right here in our office, and you’re still trying to stir things up?” Just then, Li Muwan suddenly spoke up.
“Stir things up?” Jiang Fan looked at Li Muwan, the nameless anger inside him flaring even brighter.
