The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 30: I’ll Donate 3 Million
Chapter 30: Chapter 30: I’ll Donate 3 Million
Jiang Fan shot Li Qian’Er a cold glance.
"Let’s be reasonable here. You stole from me, and I still saved you, letting bygones be bygones."
"I’m not asking for anything in return. Just give me my stuff back. That’s the bare minimum, isn’t it?"
Li Qian’Er knew she was in the wrong, but she clenched her jaw and remained silent.
Jiang Fan didn’t really want to resort to any tricks. "Fine. If you really won’t give it back, I’ll just take you to the police."
The earlier threat to search her had just been a bluff.
Hearing this, Li Qian’Er lost her composure. "Can you please not take me to the police?"
"Fine, I’ll give you the card back."
As she spoke, she reached into the soft curve of her chest and pulled out his bank card.
Jiang Fan was taken aback.
’No wonder I wouldn’t have found anything if I had searched her.’
’Who the hell hides a bank card in their bra?’
’Won’t it get... you know?’
’Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.’
She reluctantly handed the bank card back to Jiang Fan.
Jiang Fan took the card and examined it to make sure.
He was worried she might pull another fast one.
Then he returned Li Qian’Er’s own bank card to her.
"Here, this is yours."
With his card back, Jiang Fan turned and left.
He hadn’t gone more than a few steps before he realized someone was following him.
’Could Scarface have found me this quickly?’
He walked to the corner up ahead and slipped into the shadows.
A moment later, the figure followed him.
It was Li Qian’Er.
Li Qian’Er wondered aloud, "What’s going on? He was right here a second ago."
"How could he just vanish?"
But Jiang Fan suddenly appeared right behind her.
He scared the daylights out of her.
"Hey! Why are you sneaking around like a ghost in broad daylight? You scared me to death," Li Qian’Er said, annoyed.
Jiang Fan snorted. "And I wonder who’s been following me."
"We’re even now. Why are you still following me?"
Li Qian’Er fell silent. After a moment, she said, "I need money. Three million."
"Can you lend me three million?"
Jiang Fan didn’t know whether to be angry or laugh. "Let me get this straight. First, you steal my card. Then you need me to save you. And now you, a stranger, are asking to borrow money from me—and not just any amount, but three million right off the bat."
"Do you think my money grows on trees?"
Li Qian’Er’s face paled, and she was at a loss for words.
"Besides, even if I did lend it to you, do you really think you could pay back three million? For an ordinary person, earning that much would take a very long time. Ten, twenty years... it might not even be possible."
’And this woman in front of me has to resort to stealing just to scrape together any money at all.’
"Lending money is like a business partnership. Both parties need to see value in each other before making an investment."
"So, what value do you think you have that’s worth my investment?"
His question left Li Qian’Er speechless.
Li Qian’Er looked crestfallen, but then a flicker of determination seemed to cross her face.
"I’m not bad-looking. I can sell myself to you to pay off the debt."
"I’m still... I haven’t been with a man... you know."
Jiang Fan shook his head. "I don’t know how much prostitutes charge for a night..."
"...but three thousand is usually more than enough."
"You may not have... experience, so you might cost a little more, but you’re nowhere near worth three million."
Li Qian’Er finally broke, tears streaming down her face. "Then... then let me do it with you a thousand times! That has to be enough, right?"
"Just lend me the money."
????
Jiang Fan was completely bewildered.
And astonished.
Then he fell into deep thought.
’What’s most important to a woman? Her purity.’
’This woman looks to be only five or six years older or younger than me.’
’She must know the meaning and cost of what she’s proposing.’
Jiang Fan dropped his mocking, teasing tone and asked seriously, "Why are you so desperate for three million?"
Li Qian’Er burst into tears. "I’m a teacher at an orphanage. We’ve run out of money. The children are going to starve, the dorms are falling apart, and when winter comes, they’ll freeze to death."
"The director—the old woman who runs it—was diagnosed with heart disease a while ago. If she doesn’t get surgery, she won’t have much time left."
"I thought that with three million, I could change everything."
Li Qian’Er cried her heart out, her sobs loud and full of sorrow, as if she were releasing all of her pent-up frustrations at once.
The word "orphanage" resonated with Jiang Fan. He had grown up in one himself. He had no family, so to him, the orphanage was his home, and the people in it were his family.
"Which orphanage are you talking about?"
"The Grand Orphanage."
Jiang Fan’s heart skipped a beat. That was his orphanage.
"I’ll give you the three million."
The weeping Li Qian’Er looked up in utter disbelief when she heard his reply. She couldn’t believe the man in front of her had actually agreed.
Li Qian’Er bowed again and again. "Thank you, thank you! On behalf of the orphanage and the director, thank you!"
"Don’t worry, I’ll definitely pay you back within ten years."
"It’s a long time, I know, but if you want to collect interest... you can come find me anytime." As she said this, her face turned beet red, as if it might start to bleed.
Ahem. Jiang Fan, of course, understood what she meant.
"Ahem, forget it. I’m not interested in you."
’Saying I’m not interested is a lie, of course, but I have to at least pretend to be a gentleman on the surface.’
Getting back on topic, Jiang Fan said, "This three million isn’t a loan for you."
"It’s a donation to the orphanage."
"What? A donation to the orphanage?"
Li Qian’Er’s head was buzzing.
’Did I hear that right?’
"You heard me. Let’s go. Take me to the orphanage for a look."
Jiang Fan grabbed Li Qian’Er’s hand and started leading her toward the parking lot.
Li Qian’Er felt the warmth from his palm, and her face flushed red.
Despite her usually flirtatious act—which was all for show—when it came to the real thing, she was incredibly shy.
Just holding hands now was already pushing her limits.
「Underground Parking Garage.」
Li Qian’Er glanced around at the dim lights.
The man in front of her was a bit domineering, still holding her hand without letting go.
’He’s not having a sudden impulse to... you know... with me right here in the parking garage, is he?’
If Jiang Fan knew what she was thinking, he’d probably pass out.
When Jiang Fan heard about the orphanage’s current state, scenes from his past flashed through his mind.
He was raised in that orphanage.
Although he had lost contact with the orphanage at the age of twelve, he had continued to receive money from them all the way through his college graduation.
But he hadn’t made much of himself. He could barely take care of himself, so he had never dared to go back.
Now that he finally had a little money, it was time to go back and take a look.
Sitting in the Maybach, Li Qian’Er looked around the dim, deserted space. For the three million, she clenched her jaw and gave herself a pep talk. ’I’ll go through with it.’
"Hey, handsome... please be gentle in a bit."
"I don’t really know much about... this sort of thing."
"Be gentle. I’m afraid it’ll hurt."
Jiang Fan, who was starting the car, looked at her in surprise. "What did you say would hurt?"
"What do you mean, ’be gentle’?"
Jiang Fan had just snapped out of his reverie.
Their eyes met, and Li Qian’Er realized she had misunderstood.
’Ugh, I wish I could just find a hole to crawl into and disappear.’
