The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 36: Are You Having an Affair?
Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Are You Having an Affair?
Jiang Fan suddenly let out a chuckle.
He used to be short on cash, which was why he would compromise. But now that his debts were all paid off, he wasn’t falling for this anymore.
"Forget it. Here’s your key back."
"Find someone else."
Looking at the key in her hand, Yin Ruxue frowned. "Come with me, and I’ll give you a hundred thousand."
"Forget it. I’m not interested in that money."
"Two hundred thousand."
"Three hundred thousand."
....
"Final offer, one million."
Too bad. Jiang Fan just kept walking without even turning his head.
Yin Ruxue had no idea why this man was being so stubborn today.
’Didn’t he used to love money more than anything?’
Seeing that Jiang Fan was completely ignoring her, Yin Ruxue gritted her teeth.
She really wanted to just terminate all her contracts with Jiang Fan right then and there.
But when she thought of that one matter, she forced herself to endure.
She drove her car and caught up to Jiang Fan.
"Jiang Fan, what will it take for you to help me?"
"Name your terms."
Jiang Fan chuckled. "Is this how you ask for a favor?"
Yin Ruxue’s fists clenched. She huffed, "Don’t forget, I have your contract."
"I can fire you and then sue you for the breach of contract penalty."
"Sure, you can fire me. But then Mengmeng won’t have a father."
"You’re threatening me," Yin Ruxue fumed.
Jiang Fan remained perfectly calm. "You threatened me first, you know."
After a moment, Yin Ruxue calmed down as well. "What do you want to agree to help me?"
Jiang Fan rubbed his forehead. "Look, you have to at least tell me what you need my help with."
"What if you’re asking me to go commit murder and arson with you?"
Yin Ruxue clicked her tongue before finally saying in a cold voice, "Be my boyfriend and come home with me to meet my parents."
What?
"Be your boyfriend and go home with you to meet your parents???" Jiang Fan’s eyes went wide.
If Yin Ruxue hadn’t been standing right in front of him, he wouldn’t have believed those words had come out of her mouth.
"I’m not mishearing things, am I?"
Yin Ruxue gritted her teeth. "You heard me correctly."
"Yes or no. Are you going or not?"
Yin Ruxue was clearly running out of patience.
"What’s in it for me if I go?" Jiang Fan shot back.
"Everything I said earlier still stands."
"Whenever I need you to be my boyfriend, you have to show up on time."
"Otherwise, I’ll take back that one million at any time."
"What if I’m taking a dump when you need me to be your boyfriend? I can’t just run off with you without even wiping my ass, can I?"
Yin Ruxue felt inexplicably disgusted but still said, "I’m not that ridiculous. If something comes up, I’ll notify you ahead of time."
Jiang Fan thought about it and agreed. ’After all, a million is on the line.’
After they got in the car, Yin Ruxue had originally intended for Jiang Fan to drive, but she suddenly remembered that she hadn’t established his persona yet.
"The drive to the Zhongjiang Villa District will take about an hour. This is the file I prepared for you in advance."
"After you read it, you must memorize it. Memorize as much as you can."
"It’ll come in handy later."
Jiang Fan opened the file.
It was clearly written inside: Jiang Fan, age 26, a jade merchant from out of province.
Unmarried, with a family fortune of one billion.
Met Yin Ruxue at an investment conference.
It was love at first sight for both of them.
They fell madly in love.
’Damn, this is hilarious.’
Jiang Fan even started reading it out loud from the side.
Yin Ruxue was grinding her teeth in frustration.
"Jiang Fan, don’t push your luck."
"It’s not like you’re irreplaceable."
’That statement seemed a little off, but then again, maybe not.’
Jiang Fan coughed twice. "I couldn’t help myself for a second there. My bad, my bad."
’But if I really had a billion, would I still be here slacking off with you?’
The rest of the file contained specialized jargon, knowledge about antiques, pronunciation guides for several less-common languages, introductions to high-end products, and notes on high-society etiquette.
Yin Ruxue saw Jiang Fan flipping through the file very quickly; it was obvious he was only skimming it absent-mindedly.
But she had no other choice for now but to trust him.
Jiang Fan closed the file and asked, "So, should I call you Xue’Er later?"
Yin Ruxue replied somewhat reluctantly, "Mhm."
"Then let me ask a question, Xue’Er."
"What did you call me?"
"Just getting in some practice."
Yin Ruxue looked at the man before her, a strange feeling welling up. This Jiang Fan seemed to have changed a great deal from the Jiang Fan she knew before.
She couldn’t quite put her finger on what exactly had changed.
At the very least, the old Jiang Fan would never have dared to speak to her like this.
Yin Ruxue’s face darkened. "What do you want to ask?"
"Xue’Er, by having me act as your boyfriend, aren’t you cheating on your husband?"
"Won’t your husband get angry if you do this?"
Jiang Fan asked cautiously.
Fire seemed to erupt in Yin Ruxue’s eyes, but she quickly calmed herself.
"Do I really look like a married woman to you?"
Jiang Fan glanced at Yin Ruxue. There was nothing about her that one could find fault with.
"I can’t tell."
Jiang Fan’s words nearly made Yin Ruxue die of anger.
If looks could kill, Jiang Fan would have died countless times over.
After calming down, Yin Ruxue finally spoke. "I’ve never been married."
"Mengmeng’s mother was my older sister."
"The three of them were originally a very happy family."
"But in a car accident last year, my sister—Mengmeng’s birth mother—passed away along with Mengmeng’s father."
"Although Mengmeng survived, she lost her memories."
"My sister and I are identical twins."
"So, naturally, Mengmeng thinks I’m her mother."
"No wonder," Jiang Fan murmured.
"No wonder what?"
"Is there something wrong with Mengmeng?"
"No."
What Jiang Fan wanted to say was that after he gained his x-ray vision, he had seen what looked like a layer of fog within the meridians of Mengmeng’s head.
It was as if a cloth was draped over her consciousness.
’So Mengmeng had been in a car accident and lost her memory.’
"Perhaps losing your memory can be a good thing sometimes."
"At least for Mengmeng, she’s very happy right now."
"Yes, she’s very happy now." A rare, faint smile appeared on Yin Ruxue’s face.
"You know, you’re quite beautiful when you smile."
"Why do you always put on such a cold expression?" Jiang Fan said abruptly.
It would have been fine if he hadn’t said anything, but the moment he did, Yin Ruxue’s expression turned icy again.
’What did I say wrong?’
’I don’t think so.’
The Yin Ruxue who had just been talkative and willing to answer any question had now turned back into an iceberg.
’This woman’s moods are more fickle than the weather.’
