Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Doting Father

"Daddy, a strange uncle came to our house."

"He keeps trying to hug Mengmeng."

"When Mengmeng won’t let him, he gets angry."

"He won’t let Mengmeng eat, either."

"WAAAHHH, Mengmeng is so miserable!"

As she spoke, Mengmeng actually started crying on the other end of the line.

"Mengmeng, where did you hide? Come on out, I’ll take you to bed."

Hearing that familiar voice over the phone, Jiang Fan’s expression darkened.

"Mengmeng, is Mommy there?"

"Mommy said something came up at work, so she had to go work overtime."

"You stay hidden. Daddy will be there in a little while. Daddy’s coming to get you."

Jiang Fan then hung up, rushed outside, and hailed a taxi.

After giving the address, Jiang Fan’s voice turned cold. "Here’s 300. Get me there as fast as you can, and it’s all yours."

The distance wasn’t actually that far—the fare would normally be forty or fifty yuan. But this man handed him 300 right off the bat, and the taxi driver’s eyes lit up.

"You just watch! I’m the God of Racing of Qiuming Mountain!"

The driver wasn’t just bragging. He floored it and got them to the villa in just 20 minutes.

When the security guard outside saw Jiang Fan arrive alone and was about to stop him, Jiang Fan shot him a single glance.

"Welcome home, sir!"

A guard behind the first one saluted Jiang Fan, then pulled the younger one back.

Jiang Fan sprinted to the villa at top speed.

He heard Mengmeng’s cries the moment he reached the door.

"Go away! You’re a bad man! Mengmeng doesn’t want you to hold her, and I don’t want to sleep with you! I want to sleep with Daddy and Mommy!"

"Young Master Li, please, let me put her to bed."

"The miss will be back soon. If she sees Mengmeng crying, she’ll definitely be angry."

Nanny Chen pleaded anxiously from the side.

"What’s wrong with me putting her to bed? I’m her uncle!"

"Why is this damn brat so disobedient? Get over here!"

Li Xiangyang’s voice grew increasingly impatient.

He had originally wanted to get on good terms with Mengmeng, which would be a prerequisite for his future attempts to win over Yin Ruxue.

But he hadn’t expected the damn brat to resist him so strongly.

She was completely unwilling to get close to him.

"BANG!"

The sudden, loud noise startled the three people inside, who all turned to look at the door.

Jiang Fan stood alone in the doorway, his gaze cold as he surveyed the scene.

"Daddy, you’re finally here! I was being bullied so, so badly!"

Seeing Jiang Fan was like seeing her savior.

Mengmeng let out a wail and burst into tears, looking as heartbroken as could be.

"You uncouth lowlife! You actually used brute force to break the door. Do you know it’s worth more than your life?"

Seeing Jiang Fan, Li Xiangyang felt a sense of foreboding, but he refused to back down and couldn’t help but taunt him.

"Nanny Chen, step aside."

"You need to remember who the master of this house is, who pays your salary, and who’s the one that calls you ’Grandma’ all day long."

Jiang Fan was also furious with Nanny Chen. A moment ago, Mengmeng had been wailing her eyes out, and all the nanny did was try to talk the man down.

’Was talking any use? Couldn’t she have called Yin Ruxue? It’s all because she was afraid of offending Li Xiangyang.’

Nanny Chen lowered her head, a flash of shame on her face as she stepped aside.

Holding Mengmeng with one arm, Jiang Fan strode over to Li Xiangyang and slapped him hard across the face.

"So you’re the one bullying my daughter?"

The slap sent Li Xiangyang sprawling face-first onto the floor, and one side of his face immediately swelled up.

"You good-for-nothing freeloader! You actually dare to hit me?"

Li Xiangyang’s face was a mask of disbelief.

"So you’re the one who was bullying my daughter?"

Jiang Fan lifted his leg and kicked him squarely in the stomach.

The kick sent him flying three or four meters, and he crashed violently into the solid wood dining table with a tremendous BANG.

All the bowls and plates on the table came crashing down on top of him.

Li Xiangyang let out a series of wretched screams.

He lay on the ground like a dead dog, completely motionless.

"Daddy, you’re so amazing!!!"

"I knew Daddy would come save Mengmeng!"

"Whenever Mengmeng is in danger, Daddy will always be the first one to show up!!!"

Mengmeng hugged Jiang Fan’s face and kissed him frantically.

She couldn’t care less whether Li Xiangyang, who had been beaten to a pulp on the floor, would live or die.

"Mengmeng, why didn’t you call Mommy?"

Jiang Fan dotingly ruffled her little head, a complete contrast to the murderous demon he’d been moments ago.

"Mengmeng was afraid Mommy was busy and didn’t want to bother her."

At this, Mengmeng’s lip quivered, and the feeling of being wronged resurfaced.

Nanny Chen stared at the scene, her mouth hanging open so wide you could have fit a goose egg in it.

"This..."

"Sir... you didn’t kill him, did you?"

Nanny Chen asked, her voice trembling.

"Don’t worry, he won’t die. He’s just playing dead like a dog right now."

"Call Yin Ruxue and tell her to come back."

But there was no need for Nanny Chen to call. As they were speaking, Yin Ruxue rushed in.

Staring at the scene before her, she was completely at a loss.

She had no idea what had just happened.

But it looked like Jiang Fan had gotten violent and beaten Li Xiangyang this badly.

’If her grandfather finds out about this, isn’t he going to have a heart attack from anger?’

"You..."

But then she remembered the last time she had misunderstood Jiang Fan, and the words got stuck in her throat.

"Tell me, what exactly is going on here?"

Yin Ruxue looked at Nanny Chen.

But before the nanny could speak, Jiang Fan stood before Yin Ruxue, still holding Mengmeng.

"Is your company more important than your daughter?"

"You just left to go handle business, letting this scumbag stay here and bully Mengmeng?"

"Do you have any idea how wronged she felt, or how long she was crying?"

"She didn’t want to disturb your work, so she’d rather suffer here, not eating or drinking, just crying her eyes out. And she still didn’t call you."

Jiang Fan’s voice wasn’t loud, but each word stabbed into Yin Ruxue’s heart like a knife.

"Mengmeng, tell Mommy what happened, okay?"

Mengmeng opened her arms and threw herself into Yin Ruxue’s embrace, whispering in her ear everything that had happened before and after Jiang Fan arrived.

She especially mentioned how Li Xiangyang tried to force her into a hug, wouldn’t let her eat, and even tried to drag her off to bed.

The more she spoke, the more aggrieved she felt, until she was simply crying in Yin Ruxue’s arms.

At that moment, Yin Ruxue’s expression turned completely frigid, like an eternal, unmelting iceberg.

"Hold Mengmeng."

She gently placed Mengmeng back in Jiang Fan’s arms.

Then she walked over to Li Xiangyang and looked down at him.

"Xue’Er, you’re back! This good-for-nothing, he..."

But before he could finish, Yin Ruxue snatched a nearby vase and smashed it violently over his head.
