Chapter 102: Chapter 76: This Place is Pretty Good, You Can Even Trick Your Wife into Working Overtime
Gotta say, the Uncle never saw this coming.
He saw that fan’s comment, too!
He immediately had his assistant look it up. When the Uncle saw the photos and bio online, he was completely dumbfounded.
Fuck!
’Sun the Second, that son of a bitch, set me up!’
’He really is a goddamn National Banquet Chef!’
’If this is true, then I’ve really picked a fight with the wrong person this time. The owner of that place hasn’t even made a move yet. If I keep slandering them, and that owner decides to lift a single finger, wouldn’t my streaming career be over just like that?’
At that thought, the Uncle immediately ended his stream.
’The best thing to do right now is to go offline, then quickly post an apology video. I’ll just explain that I had a cold that day and couldn’t taste anything. Maybe there’s still a chance to salvage this!’
Liu Ahbao hadn’t expected his opponent to be defeated so easily. ’I should have used my master to hold down the fort sooner! Even if it was just a photo.’
All that remained was a black, offline stream, with over a thousand fans buzzing in discussion.
And then there was Liu Ahbao’s gloating face. "How about that? Convinced now? Heh heh, I scared him so bad he shut down his stream!"
"Alrighty, I’m logging off too!"
[Kong: The Uncle really got it wrong this time. If even Master Lu gives it a thumbs-up, then no matter how bad the shop is, it can’t be *that* bad.]
[PlentyOfTime: I’m the fan who ate there today. I can attest that this place is really good. The downside is you can’t order from a menu, but the upside is the owner will generally make whatever you want to eat. It’s kind of like a private kitchen.]
[Jingzhou Wu Yanzu: I’m another fan. This place is the real deal. I went again tonight, and the tea eggs were absolutely superb. A restaurant endorsed by a National Banquet Chef, as expected! So good~]
[...]
Liu Ahbao watched the comments in the stream and turned off his phone, completely satisfied. "That should settle it!"
He immediately put his palms together and bowed to the photo of Lu Yongliang. "Master... it still required you to make a move!"
It was a good thing Liu Ahbao ended his stream when he did. If Lu Yongliang had seen that, he probably would have flown over just to slap him!
After dealing with the online hater, Liu Ahbao said goodbye to Aunt Fang and happily went home.
「The night passed quietly.」
Having completely exhausted his energy, Su Chen opened his eyes again to find it was already 7 AM.
"Why is being the boss so painful!"
Huddled under the covers, Su Chen suddenly remembered the first mission the system had given him.
The reward was an item called [Quilt]!
’If I were snuggled under the system’s reward quilt, could I just daydream forever?’
’That actually sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?’
Su Chen was still lazing in bed, unwilling to get up, but the sound of knocking from outside the door grew clearer and clearer.
’Who could it be so early in the morning...’
’An employee? Impossible.’
’Aunt Fang? She has a key.’
Su Chen, wearing baggy shorts and a tank top, groggily walked outside. Standing between the elevator and the company’s large glass door were two people!
’And they both look damn familiar!’
"What are you two doing here?"
Liu Ahbao chuckled. "Came here early to get some tea eggs."
Zhan Yang was there too, a backpack slung over his shoulder. "I have to go to work in a bit. My shift is twelve hours long, so I need to get some provisions."
"But I just woke up. I haven’t made anything yet."
Liu Ahbao waved his hand. "No problem for me, I’m free anyway. And this fellow fan?"
Zhan Yang also shook his head. "It’s fine. At my company, being an hour or two late is okay."
The two of them exchanged a smile, walked right past Su Chen into the company, and found a random workstation to sit down.
They looked just like employees of the company.
Su Chen scratched the back of his head and went to wash up. ’What the hell is going on this morning?’
’No, wait. Could this be the "delicious fission" Ling Shuyu was talking about?’
In any case, Su Chen quickly washed up. The pork knuckle supply was running a bit low, which meant he had to reduce the number of buns he made.
Adding tea eggs to the menu made for a good combination, and it would be more than enough to handle the Xinghui crowd.
Seeing Su Chen enter the kitchen, Liu Ahbao quickly followed. Not to be outdone, Zhan Yang did the same.
’I’ll go take a look too!’
And so, early that morning,
to the soundtrack of Liu Ahbao’s constant "miraculous technique" commentary, Su Chen made five steamer baskets of buns, 120 in total.
He also boiled 200 eggs at once, dividing them into four large pots.
After all the work was done, Zhan Yang said admiringly, "After watching you make them, I suddenly feel like five yuan for a tea egg isn’t expensive at all. You used a ton of Coca-Cola."
"And this technique... I’ve never seen anything like it in all of Jingzhou."
When Su Chen was cracking the eggs, Zhan Yang didn’t think much of it at first. But after Liu Ahbao explained the secret behind it, he was too shocked to speak.
He exclaimed that getting an egg for five yuan was an absolute steal!
As it approached eight o’clock, the buns and eggs were ready. Neither took much time to cook.
Liu Ahbao asked for two buns and five eggs, then went to a workstation by himself to eat.
Zhan Yang, on the other hand, wanted his to go.
"I’ll just take a few buns, five is enough. I’ll save three to heat up for lunch. The eggs are delicious, so I want ten of them!"
"You can eat that much?" Su Chen was a bit surprised as he packed the food into a container. ’You really shouldn’t eat too many eggs; you could end up in the hospital.’
Zhan Yang leaned against the doorway with a carefree expression. "It’s not that I eat a lot. I work at the power plant—the kind where you work for 12 hours and then get 48 hours off. I’m sick of the cafeteria food, so bringing my own is a good change."
"I see." Su Chen finished packing the buns. "How about you take a few more buns?"
’The S Level large meat buns absolutely live up to their name, it’s just that these guys haven’t tried them yet!’
’If it weren’t for the low stock of pork knuckle, Su Chen would keep selling the large meat buns indefinitely. They were simple, easy to make, and very profitable.’
"Sure," Zhan Yang said nonchalantly. "Ten buns and ten eggs, then."
Once everything was packed, Zhan Yang put it all in his backpack and left.
Su Chen knew a little about this. Jingzhou’s wind power plant was doing well. The employees there didn’t have a very demanding job, but when things got busy, they got *really* busy.
Usually, one long shift earned them two days off, making it a job with both good pay and ample free time.
No wonder Zhan Yang didn’t even blink at spending a hundred yuan on buns and eggs.
Not long after, the Xinghui employees started to arrive, which was when Aunt Fang would show up.
She usually started her shift two hours earlier than everyone else. In her own words, she was getting old and couldn’t sleep much, and since she’d just be idle at home, she might as well come to the company and do something.
So, Su Chen left the breakfast sales to Aunt Fang and returned to his office to happily catch a few more winks!
