Chapter 306: Chapter 138: Unreasonably Delicious Scrambled Eggs with Tomato
Shen Ning and over a dozen of her students showed up at the west gate at the time arranged in their group chat. A crowd of attractive women dressed in tight sportswear were all doing various stretches.
Their presence drew the gazes of many passersby.
"It’s a shame. Coming so early means we definitely won’t run into that boss."
"It’s fine, we can just go over after our workout. Hehe, let’s just hope we don’t run into Coach Shen today!"
The four rich young women from the day before were in a corner stretching their legs, occasionally glancing toward Shen Ning at the front of the group as they chatted.
"Probably not. Coach Shen is extremely self-disciplined. I heard that even people who are really into fitness have cheat meals, so yesterday was probably hers."
"True. It’s normal to indulge once in a while. We just do it a little more often. Not much of a difference."
Zhang Jiayi, the youngest woman in the fitness group, was different from the other rich ladies—she was still single and unmarried!
For her, working out was just a hobby.
"There’s no way we’ll run into her, so don’t you worry. Coach Shen is nothing like us. *She’s* what you call self-disciplined! *Sigh*... I wonder how much it’d cost to be that cute guy’s sugar mama..."
"Jiayi, you should tone it down a bit. Be careful those words don’t get back to your dad!"
But Zhang Jiayi didn’t care.
’It’s perfectly normal for a woman to like handsome guys!’
’And a handsome guy who can cook, no less!’
A whistle blew, and the rich ladies quickly wiped the playful looks off their faces, jogging to fall in line with everyone else.
Shen Ning faced the group. "Same route as yesterday. We’re running. Let’s go!"
It was the same every day. Shen Ning would lead from the very front when the run started, then drop to the back on the second lap to urge everyone on.
Five kilometers wasn’t a very long distance for people who ran regularly.
A quarter of the way through the lap, the group reached the entrance to the Pedestrian Street.
Shen Ning took a deep breath. For some reason, just looking at the street made her feel a sudden wave of irritation.
"Speed up!"
She gave the order, intending to get through this unpleasant street as quickly as possible. But she’d only taken a few steps after giving the command when she sniffed the air.
Shen Ning sniffed.
’What is that smell? Why does it seem so familiar?’
After the group ran a little farther, Shen Ning suddenly stopped and raised her hand. "Hold up!"
She looked ahead.
’What’s going on? Why is that food cart out so early?’
But it wasn’t just out. Right at that moment, a long line was actually forming outside the red food cart!
The line was even blocking the Pedestrian Street right in half!
’Isn’t it just some stir-fried beef? How can business be this good? These people are insane... Lining up before it’s even mealtime!’
Shen Ning frowned and turned around. "There are too many people up ahead. Everyone, about-face! We’re heading back the way we came!"
’What was supposed to be a nice five-kilometer, two-lap run had suddenly turned into four laps back and forth. Having her training rhythm disrupted like this felt awful!’
After the five-kilometer run, Shen Ning led the group in another stretching session, then dismissed them on the spot.
The plan she had set for her students was three runs per week, with the remaining time dedicated to a mix of aerobic and anaerobic training at their training camp.
This was their last street run of the week.
After dismissing the group, Shen Ning glanced sullenly toward the Pedestrian Street. "What’s wrong with these people? Coming to eat at this hour... Honestly..."
She had originally planned to head straight back to her company, but for some unknown reason, her feet seemed to have a mind of their own, carrying her back along the running route toward the Pedestrian Street.
She looked at the food cart from afar; the line seemed to have grown even longer.
’I don’t believe this! Can some stir-fried beef really be that attractive? I’ll go have a look.’
Shen Ning’s mind was clear. She had already eaten two servings in one go yesterday, plus a side of carbs.
Even though the Stir-Fried Yellow Beef was undeniably delicious, her self-discipline was nothing to scoff at.
’I’m just going to have a look today.’
With light steps, Shen Ning walked to the end of the line, then circled around the crowd to get to the front.
’Isn’t it just stir-fried... Scrambled Eggs with Tomato?’
Seeing the words on the blackboard, Shen Ning tilted her head and frowned. ’What’s so delicious about Scrambled Eggs with Tomato?’
As luck would have it, Zhan Yang and Fang Chang were nearly at the front of the line. But unlike everyone else...
While everyone else was lining up to order, these two were lining up while already holding bowls of food!
"Haha, Fang Chang, you’re a genius! I was just saying I didn’t bring my lounge chair for nothing, but it turns out I won’t even need it!"
Fang Chang, who’d gotten a spoon from god-knows-where, was shoveling a huge mouthful of rice mixed with red-and-yellow scrambled eggs with tomato and a few cucumber slices from his bowl. "Who knew there’d be a line today?" he said, his words muffled by the food. "My method is foolproof. Stick with me, pal, and you’ll be living the good life!"
Zhan Yang nodded eagerly. Just as the person ahead of him left with their food, it became his turn. "Boss Su, straight to the point! One order of Stir-Fried Yellow Beef, one Scrambled Eggs with Tomato, and a bowl of rice!"
Su Chen rarely spoke while he cooked, but upon hearing the familiar voice, he stopped what he was doing in surprise.
"Didn’t you two just order your food? Did you cut the line?"
Zhan Yang grinned proudly. "This was all Fang Chang’s idea! After you serve our food, we don’t go sit on the side to eat. We just take our bowls right to the back of the line and eat while we wait. By the time we’re finished, we’ve made it to the front again."
Su Chen was stunned.
’You can freaking do that?’
