Chapter 384: Chapter 156: The Authentic Review of the Cthulhu Soup Dumplings
But as soon as he stepped inside, he realized that wasn’t it at all!
The nineteenth floor was dead quiet!
As far as the eye could see, there wasn’t even a single dining table!
Instead, there were neat rows of office desks!
He watched as a customer emerged from a glass door at the very back, happily found a workstation, and sat down.
Then, the customer took out the tools on the desk—scissors, tweezers, and whatnot—and began to perform surgery on the two crabs he had brought out.
The livestream comments instantly exploded!
"Holy shit, why does the nineteenth floor feel like I’m going to work? This is so damn weird!"
"Unbelievable! I thought I was here to eat, but it turns out I have to clock in first!"
"The internet says the nineteenth floor of Delicious is the core of the whole building, and that a lot of high-end custom meals are served here. But it’s actually an office area? Do they eat in cubicles too?"
"Everything Boss Su does is beyond my expectations..."
Never mind the fans; to be honest, Sui Po was also completely baffled by the situation.
He didn’t rush to order.
Instead, he started wandering around the nineteenth floor.
"As you can see, this is an open area. The rooms along the wall are conference rooms and lounges. They probably don’t serve food in here."
In fact, if the netizens knew where all this stuff came from, they would probably be even more baffled.
The conference rooms and lounges were freeloaded from Xinghui Company!
The only private room outside, the National Style Snack Shop’s "Xanadu" room, was sourced from the company’s driver, Zhang Jiayi.
The smaller private room inside was freeloaded during Fang Chang’s engagement!
You could count every single thing on this nineteenth floor, and not one of them was something Su Chen paid for himself!
Continuing forward, he mused, "This must be the place where they were eating snacks during the last livestream. It’s really unique. You can tell it took a lot of effort to acquire these items. Interesting. Whenever Boss Su has some free time, we should do an episode on Chinese-style pastries."
Walking further, he reached the workstations where customers were dismantling their crabs.
"I’ve seen that girl before. They probably still have two options here: either customers pick their own crabs to make the buns, or they just buy the finished buns directly. The prices are different, but the taste is the same."
He kept walking and came to the glass door.
He pushed it open and went inside. The furnishings were a bit simple.
To the left was a small square table for four, and in the center of the floor was a large round table. Both tables were currently occupied by customers.
Some were dismantling crabs, others were eating buns.
Further to the right, against the wall, a small private booth had been created using a folding screen. Sui Po stood curiously at the entrance and peeked inside.
"This little booth has a nice atmosphere! It’s just not soundproof. But Boss Su’s custom meals are generally for one customer at a time, so soundproofing isn’t really an issue."
He walked further in.
Sui Po stood at a doorway. "This must be the kitchen. We won’t go in. So where do I order..."
Zhang Li, who was sitting by the kitchen door, glared at him. "Teacher Sui, am I so big that you can’t see me?"
Sui Po looked down.
Whoa!
A girl with short hair was sitting by the door, scissors in her left hand, a crab in her right. Her legs, too short to reach the floor from her stool, were dangling and swinging.
"Uh! Sorry. I’d like to order two Cthulhu Crab Soup Dumplings."
Zhang Li shot him a look. "Do you want to pick the crabs yourself, or...?"
Sui Po felt a bit awkward under Zhang Li’s gaze. "I’ll pick them myself. I’ll pick the crabs for two buns."
"So, will you be dismantling the crabs yourself, or should I do it for you?"
Sui Po looked at Zhang Li and thought, ’You already look so annoyed. How could I dare ask you to do it for me?’
"I can do it myself!"
Zhang Li pointed to a water tank nearby. "Go ahead and pick. Take your pick, and once you’ve chosen, I’ll steam them for you."
This time, Su Chen had moved the steamer directly into the dining area.
Since there were insulated food warmers left over from when the space was used as a cafeteria, they didn’t have to worry about the power supply.
Teacher Sui stood to the side and observed for a long time before selecting four very plump crabs and scooping them out himself.
Zhang Li put them on a scale and took a look. "Four crabs, one jin and one liang!"
It had to be said, Sui Po had a viciously keen eye. The crabs he picked averaged nearly three liang each—they were definitely big enough.
Zhang Li skillfully tied up the four crabs and tossed them into the steamer. Sui Po found a place to sit down.
He had just sat down, ready to chat with his fans for a bit.
An old man at the next table turned his head. "Are you that ’Casual Explorer’ from the internet?"
Sui Po was stunned for a moment, then replied, "Yes, I am."
"Hey!" The old man stood up excitedly, wanting to shake his hand. "I’m a fan! I learn to cook from your other account every day! Your tutorial videos are excellent!"
Sui Po was no stranger to this kind of scene. He said a few words of thanks and took a photo with the old man.
But the old man didn’t seem ready to stop talking.
"Master Sui, can you figure out how this bun is made and then create a tutorial video for us?"
"Well..." Even though he was on camera for his livestream, Sui Po made no effort to hide his helplessness. "I did have a taste yesterday, and I already put out a video."
"But to be honest, there are some parts I can figure out, and some parts I really can’t. If you want to make a crab soup dumpling that’s even close to Boss Su’s, I’d say it’s going to be tough."
The old man clicked his tongue. "That’s a real shame. I discovered yesterday that my daughter absolutely loves these buns, and I wanted to learn how to make them for her."
Sui Po was taken aback; there was something he didn’t understand. "How old is your daughter? If she loves them, you could just get some to-go for her, or bring her here to eat!"
