Chapter 400: Chapter 159: A King Player in the Silver League?
’This business model is absolutely brilliant.’ Su Chen felt like a true business prodigy.
"Good work. Let’s prioritize these orders for next month. Shuyu, what do you have to report?"
Ling Shuyu pulled out her notebook. "Chen Wenliang has been asking me about the Chinese-style Snack Shop for the last few days. I’ve been too busy to report it to you."
’The Snack Shop...’
Su Chen did find this matter to be a bit of a headache.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t considered it before. But after mulling it over, he couldn’t shake the feeling that customers who come just for pastries would be a minority.
And if they made pastries to be sold in boxes to-go, that would become a completely different line of business.
No matter how he ran the numbers, the Snack Shop seemed like a money-losing venture.
Most importantly, while Chen Wenliang was a master pastry chef, Su Chen would still have to be the main driving force behind the pastry-making. It just wasn’t worth it.
So, how to execute the Snack Shop idea required more planning. They absolutely couldn’t just rent an entire floor solely for making pastries; Delicious couldn’t afford to take such a risk.
"This matter is still up for debate. But you can make it clear to Chen the Eighth that Delicious would welcome him at any time, and he needn’t worry about his salary."
"Okay, I’ve written it down," Ling Shuyu said with a nod.
"Anyone else?"
Zhang Li and He Shuting exchanged a look. In the end, it was the more petite of the two who spoke up.
"Boss, after the autumn break, another group of children enrolled at the Mechanical Kindergarten. A number of parents came by a few days ago to ask about our after-school meal program, but all our nap-time spots are full..."
Su Chen had considered this as well. Though he might seem to be sleeping in his office all day, in reality, nothing that happened in the company escaped his notice.
"Merge the adult dining area on the second floor with the home-style cooking section on the third floor. The third floor has eight service windows, right? Dedicate one of them to that business."
This would free up space for at least two to three hundred more nap spots, which would be more than enough to handle the kids from one Mechanical Kindergarten.
"Anything else?"
Aunt Fang, who usually just kept her head down during meetings, spoke up as well.
Oh, wait... the Aunt Fang of today was not the Aunt Fang of before. To be precise, she was now the head of the Logistics Department.
"Boss, that cleaning company we signed with last time is no good. I’ve inspected their work several times and found the cleaning to be substandard!"
Su Chen spread his hands. "If they’re no good, we’ll replace them. We’re in the food and lodging business; hygiene has to be impeccable. Aunt Fang, if you know any reliable companies, get in touch with them. If not, I’ll have Shengnan handle it."
These days, Aunt Fang no longer had to personally haul a mop and broom around to clean. After all, she couldn’t possibly handle several floors all by herself.
Ling Shuyu’s solution to this problem had been to simply outsource the building’s sanitation to a professional cleaning company.
And Aunt Fang’s only duty was to wander through the floors each day and inspect their work!
At the time, she found it a bit hard to believe.
’I can make money just by doing inspections? Have I really been blessed with such good fortune in this life?’
Clearly, she did have such good fortune.
"Alright. I used to work for a cleaning service myself, so I know a few reliable companies," Aunt Fang said.
Aside from that, there weren’t really any other matters to address.
"Alright, then let’s call it a day. Everyone go home and get your things packed. Tomorrow, we’ll leave for the airport from the office!"
Zhang Jiayi raised her hand. "I’ll have my family’s driver take us! Three cars should be enough!"
Su Chen’s lip twitched, but he said nothing.
’Sometimes, Zhang Jiayi’s wealth felt like such a waste, but then there were moments like these where it unexpectedly proved its worth!’
At the mention of a holiday, everyone was naturally happy.
"Old Er, Shi Qi, the three of us live here at the company anyway. While they go home to pack, how about we go out for a walk this afternoon?"
"Sounds good!" Zhang Heping said, his interest piqued. "I haven’t been anywhere in Jingzhou since I got here!"
Shi Qi was also enthusiastic. "Let’s go! We can check out what other good places to eat there are in Jingzhou."
’Good places to eat?’
Su Chen smiled. "In that case, let’s go to the food street this afternoon. It’s always bustling over there."
Ever since acquiring the 32nd floor, Su Chen had generously set aside two standard rooms as dormitories for the two chefs.
They had never dreamed they would have such excellent living accommodations.
The three men were in immediate agreement.
"I’m already packed, so I’ll go too. It’ll be inconvenient for you guys without a car," Ling Shuyu said casually.
"I’ll drive! I don’t have much to pack anyway. If I’m missing anything, I can just buy it when we’re abroad!" Zhang Jiayi said, raising her hand.
’Going to the food street with the boss was way more interesting than going home to pack, right?’
A few of the other younger employees were also tempted to join, but since they were going abroad, they really did need to pack properly, so they stayed behind.
The group of five rode in Zhang Jiayi’s G-Wagen and, before long, arrived at Jingzhou City’s only food street.
Back when he was running his stall on Pedestrian Street, people had advised Su Chen to move to the food street. Now that he was here, he finally understood why.
"This has to be the liveliest street in all of Jingzhou, right?"
Ling Shuyu, walking behind the others, commented, "It’s lively, but honestly not that interesting. It’s mostly just a collection of different snack foods, and when you get down to it, it’s all the same few things."
The street stretched for over eight hundred meters, lined on both sides with storefronts selling all sorts of delicacies.
Some were dine-in establishments, while others offered food to-go. The variety was vast, and the prices were reasonable.
And in front of the storefronts, parked neatly along the edge of the road, were various small carts. These carts all sold different snacks, and at a glance, the selection seemed endless.
