Chapter 433: Chapter 164: One Yuan per Skewer... 6

He walked to the front of the stage with his mouthpiece.

Ah Bao set the pot down with a THUMP in front of the first child, while Zhang Jiayi was responsible for translating his words.

"Hey! There are over a hundred delicious things in here. Pick whatever you want! This is a limited-time offer! The first skewer’s free, but I’ll have to charge you for the rest!"

The child stared blankly at Liu Ahbao’s chubby face.

Then Ah Bao lifted all the skewers from the pot at once. Coated in white sesame seeds and drenched in red chili oil, the various ingredients made one’s mouth water at first glance.

The child closest to the pot swallowed subconsciously. "The kelp... can I have that?"

Ah Bao picked out a skewer of sliced kelp, then dipped it back into the pot, swishing it around to make sure it soaked up as much flavor as possible.

The child took the skewer. At his age, it was the first time he had ever seen such a novel way of eating.

The spicy, fragrant aroma wafting from the skewer, combined with the kelp’s unique flavor of the sea, made him eager to try it.

He brought it to his lips and took a small bite.

"Holy cow!" Having grown up eating Western food, the child’s simple palate had never experienced such a flavor explosion.

After one small bite, he took a huge one!

The savory, fragrant, and spicy flavors filled his mouth. The substantial texture of the kelp slices ensured that every chew was a full experience of the exquisite taste brought by the various spices and ingredients.

He swallowed the last of what was in his mouth.

His eyes were fixed longingly on the pot being carried to the next table, and the little boy clenched his jaw and gulped.

"I have five dollars. Can I have five more skewers?"

Ah Bao turned his head. "You’ll have to wait until everyone else has had a taste!"

The little boy was still young and didn’t understand many things.

The truth was, after countless experiments by Su Chen, all the savory, fragrant, and spicy flavors of this dish had been tuned to a near-perfect state.

Su Chen hadn’t used Qing peppercorns when making the chili oil; he used red peppercorns instead!

As a result, this bobo chicken had a subtle numbness and a mild spiciness, which further accentuated its fragrance!

For someone who had never tasted anything like it, the first bite would be just like their first time eating a chili pepper!

’It’s so satisfying. You have to eat one skewer after another, or you’ll just keep drooling!’

Simply put: it was addictive!

The second little boy chose a piece of button mushroom.

The third little girl chose a slice of chicken breast.

When it was the fourth child’s turn, Johansson from Northern Europe shook his head frantically. "No pig’s trotters! I don’t want to eat pig’s trotters!"

No matter how Ah Bao tried to explain, Johansson’s face was filled with terror.

Ah Bao could only carry the pot regretfully to the fifth child. "Can I have a small piece of fish skin?"

"Of course!"

The sixth child, meanwhile, ate a slice of lotus root.

When the five children had finished their tasting, without exception, every single one who had eaten the bobo chicken had the exact same reaction.

"HISS! HAA... HISS! HAA..."

Su Chen had already been extremely restrained with the spiciness in his seasoning, but even so, it was still quite hot for them. They could only try to relieve the heat by constantly sucking in cool air.

Of course, there was another way.

"I have three dollars!"

"I don’t have any money, but my mom’s back there! I’ll go get some from her right now!"

"I want another slice of lotus root~"

Ah Bao grinned. "I was just kidding. The skewers are free today, no need to pay."

He put the pot on the table. "You can try some of the other ingredients. They’re all delicious!"

The five children immediately crowded around it. One after another they grabbed skewers, desperately stuffing their mouths while still sucking in air to cool the burn.

There’s an old saying in Huaxia Country: people eat more in a crowd.

Many children have a peculiar trait: when they’re alone, they’re picky eaters, but once there are more people around, they eat like there’s no tomorrow!

The kids right now were a perfect example. Seeing how fast the others were eating, they immediately quickened their own chewing speed.

Two of the children didn’t even care if the skewers they grabbed were what they wanted to eat anymore. What was a picky eater?

They just kept wolfing it down!

Returning to the stage, Ah Bao watched this scene, his eyes suddenly growing moist. "Boss, we... I think we did it!"

Up to this point, the highest score was still held by the contestant from France, with 2 points.

Never mind anything else; based on the situation here, they’d easily get 5 points!

Su Chen also breathed a sigh of relief. "Looks like my idea was the right one after all."

For kids, the most delicious food isn’t an SS Level giant meat bun, nor is it a tender and tasty "lion’s head" meatball.

It’s all those fancy-looking little snacks.

Bobo chicken isn’t exactly a snack, but it can be considered a street food. This way of eating, combined with the brute-force method of offering a hundred ingredients, meant there was bound to be something they’d love.

And with an SS Level bobo chicken...

’Hmm... the only fear isn’t that you won’t eat it, but that once you take that first bite, you won’t be able to stop!’

After composing herself from her shock, the female host had to prepare to announce the results of the competition.

"And so, the final score for the contestant from Huaxia Country is..."

Her words were quickly cut off by a scream.

"Damn it! Let me try some! As long as it’s not pig’s feet! Don’t eat it all!"

The red-haired Johansson rushed into the group of children, reached into the pot, and grabbed a huge handful of skewers. After a quick glance confirmed there were no pig’s trotters...

...he didn’t bother sorting them. He just shoved the whole bunch into his mouth and, with a WHOOSH, pulled the bare sticks right out.

"HISS~~ So good, so good! NOM NOM NOM~"

The female host stared in disbelief for a long moment. "So their final score is... 6 points! The highest score of this round, 6 points!!!"

Everyone had thought that with three dishes and a maximum of 18 points, the highest score would be around 10. But in the end, only Huaxia Country managed to get 6 points.

Liu Ahbao gave an emotional acceptance speech and, under the envious gazes of the crowd, raised the golden trophy for this year’s competition.

Su Chen stood at the very back, smiling faintly, the unsung hero of the day.

Finally, it was time for the simple post-competition interviews.

Su Chen had been planning to head back to the hotel by himself, but he was stopped by a television reporter.

"So, to our contestant, may I ask why you wore a suit to this competition?"
