Chapter 436: Chapter 165: Two Giant Orders

After Lu Yongliang served himself a bowl, the basin of fried rice was scraped clean.

"I’m not trying to lecture you," Lu Yongliang began earnestly, "but even if Boss Su’s food is amazing, you can’t just abandon your dignity like that! You’re the head of Urban Construction, for crying out loud. How does this look?"

With that, Lu Yongliang casually scooped a bit of fried rice into his mouth. "Acting like that, you make Boss Su... Holy crap!"

The old man didn’t even finish his sentence. The flavor exploding in his mouth left him completely stunned.

SMACK SMACK!

He polished off the small bowl of egg fried rice in just a few bites. Only then did he realize the basin was already empty. Staring blankly at Shang Mingke, he exclaimed, "So that’s why you were eating so fast, you rascal! There’s more to this egg fried rice than meets the eye!"

Looking back, he realized he’d missed out on this incredible egg fried rice for the sake of a few tea eggs. The regret was almost physically painful for Lu Yongliang!

"The tea eggs were delicious too!" Shang Mingke, who was normally a serious man, always turned into a child when faced with good food.

Lu Yongliang shook his head, speechless.

"Looks like the two of us are completely at Boss Su’s mercy. I still don’t feel full."

Shang Mingke nodded in agreement. "I know, it’s like I ate, but I also didn’t."

But in truth, Su Chen had made a very generous portion of fried rice... Besides, both of them were prominent figures. Neither could bring himself to swallow his pride and ask Su Chen to make more.

They could only gaze at the empty basin and sigh.

"Oh well. Let’s head up to the second floor and have Ah Bao make us some buns."

Now that everyone was back to work, everything at Delicious had to return to its normal operating routine.

The small dining area on the second floor wouldn’t need to open for a while; the Jingzhou Kindergarten’s autumn break was set to last for half a month.

It was the "autumn tiger" season. To ensure the children had a proper afternoon nap and to prevent heatstroke, this autumn break had always been a tradition.

It was one of Jingzhou’s unique customs, in a way.

While Lu Yongliang and Shang Mingke went up to the second floor, Su Chen was in his office.

During this time, aside from experimenting with more dishes in the practice room, Su Chen had been doing something particularly interesting.

Which brought to mind the task rewards he had received while abroad.

One was the *Universal History of Cuisine*.

This was the reward for the main quest, and to Su Chen’s surprise, it was an actual book!

He couldn’t physically manifest it; he could only view it in his mind’s eye. Nor was it like a direct infusion of knowledge that he could instantly memorize. He had to read it slowly, bit by bit, just like a normal book.

Su Chen had been studying this book for the past few days.

He had to admit, the book was quite fascinating. Its contents combined the world’s diverse food cultures with local geography and history, providing incredibly detailed explanations.

It was practically a comprehensive historical encyclopedia!

The sheer volume of content was staggering. Su Chen roughly estimated that if he did nothing else for the rest of his life, he still wouldn’t be able to finish reading it.

’If I could somehow manifest this and give it to the country, it would be an absolute treasure for historians!’

However, Su Chen had no plans to transcribe it and hand it over.

Whenever he wasn’t busy, Su Chen would lie back and study the book. His current focus was on the evolutionary history of China’s major regional cuisines.

The rest of his time was spent holed up in the practice room.

And let’s not forget, aside from the main quest, Su Chen had also completed a side quest and received another incredibly generous reward!

*Chinese Famous Snacks*!

Paired with the *Chinese Cuisine Collection*, the combination of the two made Su Chen feel like Zhang Wuji after mastering the Nine Yang Divine Skill. He was invincible!

So, for the past while, Su Chen had done nothing but read his book and coop himself up in the practice room to research snacks.

And believe it or not...

...researching these snacks was actually far more interesting than studying the famous dishes from the major cuisines.

Not only were the preparation methods fun, but the snacks themselves were exceptionally delicious. Crucially, the ingredient requirements weren’t nearly as strict.

After being cooped up in his office reading for a few more hours, Su Chen finally stretched his stiff body and headed to the second floor around ten in the morning.

It was the first day back after the holiday, and a mountain of work was waiting to be dealt with.

The first order of business was a certain person who had been pestering Ling Shuyu for the last few days.

"Boss Su! I’ve heard so much about you! It’s a pleasure to finally meet you!"

This President Feng had already visited Delicious for three consecutive days, but Su Chen had refused to see him each time.

He had shown up bright and early again today, claiming he wanted to discuss a collaboration.

Su Chen had originally asked Ling Shuyu to handle it, but after she looked into the situation, she told him this proposed collaboration was a bit unusual and she wasn’t sure how to proceed.

"Please, have a seat." Su Chen gestured for President Feng to sit. "Zhang Li, bring some tea."

Seeing Su Chen’s completely unfazed expression, Feng Yaoyang said with a smile, "Has Boss Su forgotten me?"

"You are...?"

"At that culinary world gathering, your egg fried rice was truly delicious. I finished that entire pot by myself."

Su Chen thought for a moment. "Ah, so it was you. However, President Feng, egg fried rice isn’t on the Delicious menu at the moment."

Su Chen assumed that the middle-aged man had enjoyed the egg fried rice and had come to discuss some sort of franchising opportunity.

These sorts of inquiries came up all the time, but Bai Xiaobo always turned them down.

"It’s not about the egg fried rice," Feng Yaoyang said, his speech carrying a thick Hong Kong accent. "Boss Su, I was wondering if you would accept this order?"

Feng Yaoyang pulled a small card from his pocket; he had clearly come prepared.

Su Chen took it and glanced at the contents.

[Budget: 100,000.]

[Number of Diners: 5 people.]

[Request: To taste famous snacks from all over the country.]

Seeing Su Chen’s silence, Feng Yaoyang quickly added, "Boss Su, the dining time doesn’t have to be fixed. It could be over one day, or spread out over a week. I can stay in Jingzhou for another ten days. As long as you can prepare at least thirty different kinds of snacks for me to taste within that time, I’m willing to raise the budget."
